This boot is surprisingly comfortable -- wore them the first for 10 hours straight and not a bit of discomfort. The top part of the boot is way too wide for skinny calves, but paired with a cute skirt, they still looked trendy and fashionable. The color looks MUCH BETTER than pictured -- they are a dark caramel brown.

Great boot, but runs very large. Wear an 8 or 8.5, returned this one with absolutely no problem and received the exchanged boots next day. Wonderful service.

Great looking boot w/ round toe that your feet will love - This boot goes w/ all casual attire. Great for street walking as well as hiking or riding. Only problem is difficulty getting left boot over my wide, high arched foot. I have to really work that boot on. Right boot is no prob.

SMALL FIT - I went ahead and purchased 2 sizes up from my regular shoe size (wide) because of the previous reviews I read. I'm glad that I did, because it does fit small. I like the style and color it came in - more 'chocolatey' than it looks online. My first cowboy boots ever! Glad I bought them. :-D Thanks Zappos for such a quick delivery. You guys are awesome!

Ariat's Heritage Roper review - I bought these boots for riding horses (I will be a new rider). I wanted something easy to slip on and off and that would also slip in and out of the stirrups. I have a medium wide foot and pointed toed boots always seem too tight, so that's why I went with the rounded toe. I bought these a 1/2 size larger and they seem to fit fine. As far as comfort goes, they seem more comfortable than most boots I have tried, but still require some breaking in.

Ariat Ropers - At first I got the Ariat Western R toe but had to send them back because the heels were too high for my flat foot. Next I ordered the roper which I am keeping even though it isn't as comfortable as a tennis shoe like I had hoped. The left one rubs a blister on my ankle and the right one hurts the small bunion that I seem to have. Nevertheless, I think they are the best I can do in a boot with my problem feet. I like the look and the softness of the leather. I found that wearing a thick sock seems to help. I think they will eventually break in and be fine. Some complain that they are hard to get on. I like it that they are snug. Since I have a rather narrow foot they work well for me, but I can see that some would think they run small. Great service from Zappos.

Comfy workhorse- This is not a fancy boot, which makes it great for everyday wear. With a low heel it is super comfortable, and looks good with jeans. I put this boot on to go out to breakfast, then while working in the yard, then to the mall, then to the movies. It fits great and just gets better looking.

I wanted a pair of western boots that would be comfortable to walk long distances in when I'm out with friends, running errands, etc. I have a pair of Laredos, but they will make my feet hurt after a while. So I did a lot of research trying to find a pair that would work well, and settled on the Ariat Heritage Ropers! At first, they were very comfortable. I broke them in around the house. But when I tried to walk for a while, they gave me blisters on my heels and pinched/hurt my toes and balls of my feet. I've tried moleskin, but it doesn't help that much. I'm really sad, because I was so excited to wear these!! They're my first pair of Ariat's so I'm not sure what the others are like, but I hope I can find a pair that works well for my needs!

These are very nice boots and good looking too. I have another pair of Ariat Boots (The Heritage R) and they are a 9.5" medium. They fit great and I've had them for years. I naturally ordered the same size in the Ropers but they were too narrow and my toes felt a bit cramped. I called customer service and they were very nice. I decided to order a 10" medium. They fit me fine in width now and my toes are fine but now the heels are too loose!

Look good and the fit is pretty good but the seams on the tops are not flattened and covered and if I don't put moleskin on my left ankle I'd have a big blister from the very hard seam rubbing against it. Hoping I can soften it with time and some saddle oil.

Very heavy, yet the sole does not look lasting and so very disappointed that they were made in Indonesia, I purchased Ariat because I thought they were made in America, clearly they have sold out like so many others

I've worn this same style of Ariat boot forna out 12 years. This is my 3rd pair. Same model number, same size, same color, etc. These new boots are visibally narrower than the previous pair and the toe is not as wide. The seams inside rub on my ankles, and now, after wearing them for 3 weeks, they are beginning to rub on my heels. They are just not the same.

Love the boots. My old pair are really old and going strong. But, these new boots are rubbing my ankle sides really bad, I mean deep rubs to the bone . Any ideas short of bandages on sides of ankles? Thanks Rick

Nice boots, but if you decide to buy online be aware that if you return them for a refund because of wrong fit it takes at least a month to get money back.

I've worn the Heritage Roper round toe and wide square toe for years. My last pair, ordered a few months ago, were a real disappointment. Lighter weight uppers and poor quality stitching that is already unraveling. This new pair is not durable enough for horse farm work.

Unfortunately, we had to return the boots. They were the perfect color and well made but each shoe fit differently.

I wear a 9.5 in Ariat boots but these run large, possibly a full size too large. Also, they are described as “distressed brown” but they were darker in person and no distressing at all.

Sadly, I've worn a few times with thick socks, extra footbeds and even an ankle brace, but they are just too big. I ordered 8 wide which should have been right, but felt like it was a 9 ! Should have sent back right away but now am stuck with an expensive boot that doesn't fit. I had a pair bought many years ago in brown (men's size that fit) but after so many years they allow my ankle to turn. Don't know why the black ones I got recently are so big!

These boots are nice looking and seem to be well-made. I'm usually a 6.5-7M; I ordered these in a 6.5M and while it felt ok in the toe and arch area, my heel kept coming up in the back. This despite wearing thicker socks. I also wasn't crazy about the shaft height -- I know the ropers are a little shorter than regular boots but I didn't care for the way it looked on me. And there was a pretty big gap around the top of the boot and my leg. So...nice boot but nah.

Was recommended to buy these by a few other ladies in construction. Turns out when you only go out in the field once a week these are great, however I wasn't so fortunate. I work in commercial construction walking upwards of 4-6 miles a day and these only lasted about 6 months. Started wearing two pairs of socks just for comfort because the soles were so thin. Might have just been because they're round toe (heard it's a round toe thing), but they what I would call "busted" and it would look and feel like I was walking the outer sides of my feet. Weren't as bad to break in as I've heard for ariats, but recommend taking your old pair of boots with you to work for a day or too as they do run snug for a few days. Overall would buy ariats again because I don't feel these are a great work boot- more of a hybrid or office boot.

I typically wear a size 6 so after reading all the reviews that these run big, and knowing I’d probably want to add an insert, I ordered a 6. Could barely even get my foot down on it. So I then ordered a 6 1/2 and they are very snug with no extra room at all. So I’ve now ordered a 7 and we shall see. They do seem like they will be very comfortable and they look really nice although I bought them more for outside work around the house. I would def wear them out with jeans and a sweater or something. Fingers crossed the next pair are keepers!

I loved these boots but the soles are coming apart at the seams where they are stitched, I mean chucks are just coming off. I take care of my boots and condition the leather and don't do any rough work in the just basic outside work and everyday wear. They were great until this year.
