Great shoe, great service - I have recently bought this shoe after wearing the vitesse for years. I think that the quality changed or maybe my foot, as the vitesse started causing problems. I was ordering discount and maybe they were seconds. This is a great fitting, durable shoe that does about everything. After wearing this, I am sure that I will order the Sierra Leona for summer time and I will order again from Zappos as the two day delivery and service are the best. I will happily pay the full price for their products and service

Great shoe- I got these for hiking as I prefer a light and nimble shoe over a traditional boot. These perform very well- great comfort, fit and style. They also get great traction in mud, roots and dry.

Montrail....A great product- This is my 15th Montrail Shoe... Started buying Montrail about 10 years ago... Great product... Consistent quality... and a great customer service who answers all emails... The best.

Great Shoes for Active, Sensitive Feet - These shoes are the best I've found in years! I have a history of related foot and back problems, wear orthotics, and avoid bad shoes at all costs. I took a chance with Montrail after liking how they looked and liking the fit in the store. They immediately became the only shoes I want to wear, and I've had happy, healthy feet with daily walking and lots of activity for eight months now. I'm so delighted with their support, comfort, water-proofness yet decent breathability, and look that I now own three pairs! My original red ones are still my favorite color, but the dark blue is great too (men's and women's fit the same). They're expensive but worth it. Great job, Montrail. You've become my favorite shoe company.

Great Trail Runner - Break in period is a bit longer than the non Gore-Tex model (Leona Divide), and this is a heavier more stable shoe, too. The heel fit is snug but closer to the ankle than the LD. The overall size fit is generally the same. I do lots of gnarly and wet trail runs and feel safe in this shoe. On 9/10/05 I will be running a 17 mile race, Imogene Pass Run, in them....5,200 ft. elev. gain from Ouray to Telluride, CO. From what I can tell so far, they are goats uphill and very stable downhill.

Montrail Hurricane Ridge - These shoes are great for running on any surface. They run a little big. I usually wear a 7 and a 6.5 fits me perfectly in this shoe. Overall this shoe is really great!

All Weather Wonders - They are excellent for running or hiking in snow, mud, or any wet weather. A little warm for use in the summer: feet get damp. Great traction and comfort over the miles. The mesh tends to wear through around where shoe flexes at the ball of your foot, but it's not a critical issue. Had a minor defect in my first pair and Montrail was happy to exchange them, even though they had already been well used. They are a great company to deal with.

Just perfect - Size runs true. Very comfortable and quite stylish as well. A very satisfactory purchase.

Great shoe - I bought this shoe a month ago and am very pleased. The gore tex is great for those wet winter days including snow. The stretchable tongue is great if you take your shoes off in the house and need to slip 'em back on to go out without tying all the time. The tongue being sewn is great for keeping out debris. The arch support is great. I highly reccomend these shoes. Nice to find a decent looking and functional shoe at size 15.

Best pair of shoes I've ever had - They are the most comportable shoes around, great for hiking, and playing in rain or snow. Suprisingly warm in cold conditions.

Good Exercise Shoe - My old running shoes were hurting my feet, so I got these. I run on gravel roads and these shoes make this much easier. These shoes are very comfortable and look cool.

Perfect mountain trail runner - I wear these a lot in the winter too. Perfect traction for all situations , even ice. You can't beat waterproof!

Stable on Trails - I've only had these shoes for a couple weeks, but pleased overall so far. Compared to street running shoes the Montrail holds up very well on the trails. I've always had a problem twisting ankles, but with these shoes my ankles seem very secure. We've had a lot of trees cut in this area so debris is everywhere. The bootie (there is no tongue) seems to keep the smaller debris particles from entering the shoe. The Shoe is about as comfortable as could be expected for a trail shoe. If you want comfort get an Asics. So all in all the Hurricane is an excelent shoe for the trail, but don't run on the streets or expect to make a fashion statement at work.

Solid Trail Shoe - Good support. Tight fit - narrow for stated width. Must size up at least a half size if you hope to use thicker hiking socks. But seems to fit well enough to work with a single thin sock, so you could go true to size and wear thin socks.

This is a sneaker - As other posters have stated, get a 1/2 size larger. Did that and it fits perfect. Like a previous Montrail, the shoes build and construction is great and solid. Feels a little snug but it’s because your feet are wrapped securely with this shoe. It is extremely comfortable and required no breaking in. The comfort is great.

Good Shoes - Runs Small Though - Comfortable and waterproof - but make sure you order 1/2 a size larger than normal - these run SMALL...

Good and not so good - The shoe fits me like a sock. However, the caveat with this shoe is that it is not very soft and so it fits like a hard sock. It's relatively comfortable - I use it to work all day for which I stand and walk about. I was looking for an all-purpose shoe and this fits my bill. It's waterproof and comfortable enough.

Great shoes that run small! Purchased these for everyday use in New England, where I walk, jog and bike- rain, sleet, snow or shine. I was looking for a pair of lightweight, waterproof shoes that don't look like space ships. These fit the bill pretty well, though I could live without the neon highlights and reflectors. Even so, they still pass for casual wear. The fabric has a pebbled texture that seems very durable (something that wasn't apparent to me from the online photos). The tongueless, sock-fit adds comfort and the arch support is great. My feet and knees are happy running in these. Tread is good. These won't give you the traction of a Stealth Rubber sole, but they also won't mark up your floors (a win in my book). All in all I'm very satisfied and would purchase these again. One thing: Order larger and save an exchange! These run small! I started at 10.5 (my usual size), tried 11, and ended up with 11.5. Follow Montrail's fit guide and you'll be alright.

Water necessity - Good shoe. A must if traveling to the tropics during the wet season. They dry fairly quickly but you must rinse them off or they stink after a long day of wearing in the rain or hiking in wet conditions. Initially, they were a little narrow and caused blisters, (without socks) but have since stretched and are fine. Good price too compared to Gore-Tex that isn't nearly as breathable. Glad I purchased them prior to a seven week stay in Costa Rica.

Fits like a sock - It is a great shoe. I work at a golf course and my feet are wet every day but so far they have held up. The only thing I would mention to a potential internet buyer is that there is not traditional tongue. If you look closely at the photos the shoe fits more like a sock. This makes it a little difficult to get on but once on is very comfortable.

Nice shoes, but they feel a bit smaller than the size 11 that I ordered.

I like them - I bought Montrail's Hurricane XCR without knowing anything about the company or the fit of their shoes. At first, they were harder to break in than I expected, but once I got rolling, I found them to be comfortable to wear for long stretches. They seem extremely sturdy. We'll see how they hold up.

Hurricane XCR review - I wore this shoe right out of the box in a 50Km trail run that was a muddy mess. My feet were dry as a bone. I developed a blister on my big toe, but was happy with the fit. I will keep shopping at Zappos thanks to their speedy delivery at no extra cost. Thank you for excellent service.

Foul Weather Shoe - I have run in the Hurricane three (3) times including a run in steady drizzle. I have purchased Montrail shoes a number of times and I like the support; however, Montrail shoes are too rigid and firm to be good running shoes. This shoe is not soft but has enough cushioning to suit me for trail running. The shoe is stable and supportive for trail running. Arch support is average. Feet stayed dry during run in the rain and great traction.

Possibly the best foul weather trail runners ever - I owned and wore out a pair of M hurricane ridge shoes from Dec 2001 to June 2003. These shoes rock in just about any condition. I was just as comfortable in New England snow as I was in Pacific Northwest wet. The waterproof on-trail-bootie was excellent in cold climates. The aggressive tread gave me traction on slippery, algae covered rocks and muddy banks. Traction was never an issue (until they wore smooth)! I put tons and tons of miles on my shoes and wish they could last forever. One drawback, in extreme heat and humidity (115+ degrees) the waterproof sock acts as a bag that collects sweat and soaks your feet. Under sane running temperatures, there's no problem with breathibility.
