Order a half size bigger - Great shoe very unique. I say order a half size bigger if you want to wear this shoe for a long time. Although they are converses but the are Jack Purcells and not All Stars so going a half size bigger wont make your feet look huge. I've had my shoes for two years and they are still intact. Worth the money.

Jack Purcell sneaker - I have been wearing Jack Purcell sneakers for 27 years. The updates in design to this great looking sneaker are tremendous. The old version of the shoe was pretty stiff and certainly had no cushion to speak of. I just received them in Pink and they are devine and so comfortable. I will order the black to replace my old black pair.

What a great classic ! Love 'em ! I returned the canvas ones because I needed a size larger and learned about and purchased these ones with the padded footbed and more comfortable tongue. I have since taken them to Japan and worn them for at least 3 full days of walking, at least 6-7 hours each day, and wore them on the plane ride home last night. I love them, love them, love them. Mostly because I know I’m wearing the classic ! I don't know why I didn't know about this model in my younger days. I love them ! Even when I thought I might pack them to wear them on rainy days and they'd be ruined, I was comforted because I knew I could come home and go directly back to zappos.com for the best price to replace them !!

Even better than the original! I was nervous that something I knew I loved had changed, but these Jacks will definately last longer than the old style, and are just a little bit more comfortable.

I was really skeptical of the updated JP because I love the original. These new ones are super-comfy, although the comfort comes at a higher proce of course. The typical JP breaking-in phase isn't needed. I have the light blue and they're pretty cute. The fabric is different than the original canvas, it's almost a linen that's layerd over the inside canvas.

Versatile and comfortable - Looks old school, but updated with modern features. Has genuine arch support, and is made with lighter materials than the pair I owned 30+ years ago.

Classy - I got this shoe in Oat/Parchment which is perfect for summertime. The shoe is a tad narrower than Chucks (as many other reviewers have noted) and at times when I wear thicker socks, my little toes feel squashed, so I just wear thinner socks. The arch support on this shoe is ok, I have a problem with the heel cup though, which sometimes feels like it has sunk into the ground (or maybe I'm just an elephant), so I got some Dr. Scholl's heel supporting cups. Other than that, it's remarkably comfy and very classy - I wear it with jeans all the time. The material and construction of the shoe is better than that of Chucks and I'm thinking of getting these shoes in black leather.

Hard heel - Had to rip out the hard heel insert on both shoes because of blisters on my ankles. Very comfortable now, though the shoe fits slightly larger. If you think you might have the same problem, order a half size smaller than they recommend.

Looks better than it feels - I love the look of this shoe; however, there's little arch support and it's a bit front-end heavy causing me to trip every now and again. Still, it's an adorable shoe.

Felt good - Looks great - I liked the look of these shoes on my foot. The arch is a little funky (but at least there is one). First 3 days of wearing them I was on my feet for over 30 hours and they were very comfortable.

A good shoe - First of all, about sizing, I would say that if you're a woman, at least, you'll probably wear the same size in Purcell’s as you do in Chucks. I went a half size larger and it wasn't the best decision (which I didn't realize until I'd worn them a few days). They're comfortable for what they are; I wouldn't go running in them, obviously, but I can walk across campus in them with no problem, which I couldn't do in my chucks. Overall I'm very pleased.

Now that the whole world is wearing Chuck Taylors, I had to move on and the Jack Purcell is filling the bill. Like the Chucks, there is no arch support, but I put orthotics in anyway, and I love the look of them. Sizing is different. For me - a size 10N - the size 8 worked well. And Zappos - you are the best. I brag about you all the time. Nobody does it better. I ragged on another online company recently and told them they should take lessons from you guys!

THE Classic "sneaker" Jack Purcell was a Canadian world champion badminton player. Purcell designed a canvas and rubber badminton shoe for the B.F. Goodrich Company of Canada in 1935. Jack Purcell sneakers are still produced today by Converse. These are a true classic and, as legend has it, were the shoes James Dean was wearing in his fatal car crash in his Porsche 550 Spyder in 1955. ORDER THEM 1/2 SIZE SMALL - and be prepared for a few blisters if going sockless.

Jack Purcells - The shoes are great. The insole feels just right. I wear an 11.5 in Vans slip-ons and purchased the same size in my Jack's. The fit is exactly the same, just right. I ordered these at 3:30 on Tuesday and received them Wednesday. Zappos is incredible. I gave the look 4 stars because my shoes size makes the shoe look huge, but the design is still simple and goes with anything. I recommend buying this shoe.

Big on style, but less substance - The Jack Purcell is a fine looking shoe that fit pretty well to size. I have big, wide feet, too and I didn't have a problem with the shoe feeling too narrow like I sometimes do with my Converse Chuck Taylors. There's plenty of padding, BUT there isn't a lot of heel support. In fact, it almost feels like my heel is lower than the rest of my foot. Also, the insole that came with my particular shoe had a brown suede-like top that pretty much turned the bottom of any socks I wore with it permanently brown. That's not a big deal when your foot is in the shoe, but when you take the shoes off and start walking around in just your socks, it looks like you have some pretty gnarly feet.

Jack where have you been - I thought for sure this sneaker had long been discontinued by Converse until I came across it on your site. This new upgraded version is great.

Converse Jack Purcell - I love my Jack Purecell's! I have the cutest pink ones and I get compilments on them all the time. They don't go with everything I wear but if they did I would wear them everyday. There are on of my favorite pair of shoes that I've ever bought!

Run fast, jump high! I was so happy to find Jack Purcell's at Zappos, I've finally decided that Converse Allstars were just not comfortable enough for me anymore and the Purcell's give me that vintage look with more comfort!

New jack ain't it. Can't say I'm crazy about the overall quality of this new Purcell. They look great and are pretty comfortable but the rubber layer closest to the canvas began to turn pink after only a few wears. my shoes are now maybe three months old and the rubber is pink and now coming away from the canvas. I won't buy these again.
