Beautiful boot, made in Hungary. Surprisingly roomy in the toe box! Almost as wide as Vasque Sundowner GTX in 7D (wide). I have wide feet and a bunion, so ordered 1 size up. The Asolo was much wider than Hi Tec V-Lite Altitude Ultra and Keen Oregon PCT of the same size. But my toes had more wiggle room in the Vasque, so this one went back with the other 2. Wish they made it in wide widths!

Finally, my search for an awesome, well fitting boot is over!!!! (Thank you so much Zappos for your awesome hassle free return service!). I have a typical woman's foot: wide in the forefoot and narrow in the heel. Well, problem is most boots that I have tried on are either too loose in the heel (causing my foot to slide forward and/or rub up and down in the ankles/heel) or are too tight in the forefoot causing discomfort and a cramped feeling. There seemed to be no solution and I would always have to settle on something that didn't really fit well. Until now. Thank you Asolo TPS 535 V. These boots offer plenty of forefoot and toe space (without being unsupportive or floppy) and they hug my heel just enough to keep it in place, even with a lightweight sock! Yet they still fit comfortably with a heavy sock. Simply amazing! I usually wear somewhere between an 8.5 and 9. I ordered these in an 8.5 and found the fit to be fantastic. When I unlace and cram my toes all the way against the front, there is about 2 fingers width behind my heel. Perfect spacing for wiggle room, or thick socks, and again, feels like a glove when you lace em up and go. Usually 8.5s do not allow me this much toe space in the front and still fit well. Yippy! Overall the boot is very well constructed. The leather is nice and thick and good quality. They feel very strong and supportive when I walk. The front to back action is very good and natural. (Another reviewer mentioned these were for over-pronators, but I did not find that the case. I have a neutral foot, so would not do well in shoes designed for over-pronators. The heel just looks weird from the back because they have a "brake" for descents). They are not pillow comfy exactly, but rather their comfort comes in absorbing the shock of impact. If you want pillow comfy, you could easily add some pillow insoles. There is space to do so. They are a bit stiff right now, but that will change as I break them in, of course. I chose this style over the Gore-Tex versions because I wanted them to not be too hot in the summer. Gore-Tex makes my feet hot. I used to have a pair of Salomon hiking boots that were full grain leather with Cambrelle linings (like these are) and they were always waterproof if I kept the leather in good shape, no Gore-Tex needed. Thank you Asolo for making a non-Gore-Tex, full grain leather boot. It is a rare find these days! I'm hoping these will last as long as my old Salomons did- 10 yrs! So in short, after all that rambling...I love these boots!

As comfortable as slippers - I have the worst feet to fit: wide forefoot because of bunions and narrow-ish heels. I am also an over-pronater with a high arch. I need lots of support. Also, have sensitive soles and a neuroma. I need a somewhat rigid and thick sole on my boot. I have yet to test these boots in rocky upstate NY - on trail and off trail. So far I've worn them an ENTIRE day around the neighborhood. I was in no hurry to take them off at the end of the day. Really comfortable. I normally wear a 10 in a dress shoe, but I've found I need to go up a size in hikers. I think this pair will work out nicely for me.

Asolo 535 - The Asolo 535 is a nice shoe for the money. I think it runs true to size. It's a nice stiff boot that would lend plenty of support. You will need some break-in time to hike/backpack though. The only reason I cannot use them is I have wide duck feet and these are for normal width feet. If my feet fell within the normal range, I would wear them all of the time.

I love these boots. I needed boots for work in the desert mountains of Nevada during 70F temps. I have plantar fascia. With only 4 hours of break-in time before the trip, my feet were fine! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out whether to buy the woman's 9 or 9.5. I do not like tight fitting shoes but also knew that heel slipping would be a problem. I usually wear a 9.5, but the reviews said they run a little large. The size 9 would have been alright, but I decided to go with the 9.5 and use insoles; it worked out perfectly because the laces let me snug the shoes up so nothing slipped, but my toes had wiggle room, and my heels had extra cushion for traversing the airport. Not a single blister, no heel pain. I was hiking 8 hours a day. One reviewer commented that without rubber toe protection, they might wear out quickly; my boots are very beat-up after only 2 days (especially the toe), but I was in extreme conditions: very sharp rocks. They look abused, but they are still solid. The boot did not irritate my ankles, and it gave decent support. The sole was a good balance between stiff for protection from rocky terrain, and flexible enough to move. Their definitely more stiff than flexible. No sweaty feet at 70F.

Hiked to Machu Picchu in these almost right out of the box, with only a few very minor hikes in them just to test them out. They were extremely comfortable, excellent ankle and arch support, a little heavy, but not anything to exclaim over. They also kept my feet dry and warm the whole time. I will have these for a very long time. Highly recommended.

Quality footwear is so important, and these boots are worth every single penny. Perfect fit, support, and comfort right out of the box. Not too stiff - no blisters (unlike some other brands that are so stiff they feel like I'm hiking in ski boots). I'm looking forward to years of Rocky Mountain hikes in these trusty boots.

I bought these for a multi-day hike this summer, so they have not been fully tested on extended hikes. I have done several three hour hikes and so far they are fabulous! Super comfortable right out of the box, though a little stiff at first. They are a little on the narrow side, so if you have wide feet they might be cramped. Good arch support, with enough vertical room for inserts if more is needed. Good ankle support, great traction, rugged, and sufficiently waterproof so far (stepping through little streams and puddles). I tried these along with some other brands at the same price point and these were by far the most comfortable. I have high hopes for my extended hiking trip! Highly recommended.

Buy this boot. It's like having rockets under your feet, seriously comfortable and energizing. I bought it for hiking but I am wearing it everywhere. I bought the leather rather than the Gore-Tex because that's what the trail crews in Glacier Natl park wear because they say the Gore-Tex makes your feet sweat. That's a hard job so I figure they ought to know!

This is a great boot! I\'m a guy, but since I have narrow feet and never seem to get a good heel fit I decided to try going up a full size and getting a women\'s model. I was foolish enough to wear them for the first time on a full day of slogging up and down some very steep and rough terrain in Rocky Mt. National park. No blisters, no toes hitting the end, great fit and support. I\'m very impressed! Can\'t really comment on durability, but I would definitely recommend them. Zappos service was good too.

These boots are the most comfortable I have ever worn. I've worn them most every day for the past 3 years and they're still in good shape. Being so warm and waterproof, they've been a good reliable boot for hiking and work outdoors.

Wonderful hiking boot. No break in time. When you walk you feel the three points of support that feel like springs. I have feet problems with my heels hurting. When I first slipped these boots on. I felt no more pain in my heels. There is plenty of room for inserts placed on top of the three layers made by Asolo. Do your feet a favor and buy Asolo TPS 535V. Great arch support holding your heels in place. There is a newer generation of this high tech hiking boots. It is made with the same craft making.

Hard to find size - After visiting 7 sports, hiking and recreational stores. (And 50 websites) I was still unable to find the Asolo hiking boot in my size. I measure at a 4.5. Every store and website carried the boot in a 6 as the smallest size. Until a friend suggested Zappos. They had the boot in a 5 and it fits perfect. I spent the week breaking them in. They are a very stiff boot. My ankle bone was very sore and bruised but I worked through the pain. After about a week, the boot fit like a glove and is very comfortable. I haven't done any serious hiking yet, but I don’t expect any problems as a friend of mine swears by this brand. I am doing another section of the Appalachian Trail this summer and I think this boot will offer the support I need for carrying a heavy load.

I LOVE these boots. I have problem feet – left foot a size smaller than my right foot, narrow feet, high arches and weak ankles. So you can imagine that finding the right boot is not easy. These give enough support for my ankles, fit as tailor made on my narrow ski-shaped feet, and both my feet are very happy, even after hours of walking. After a year of regular use I've only had one blister (on my heel) unavoidable with my weird-sized feet. I can't recommend them enough, I hope they last forever!!!

Great boot - I bought these boots in the dead of winter and find they provide great traction on icy city sidewalks. Clomped around in snow and feet stayed dry and very warm. Provide tons of support. These boots are a bit on the heavy side and I hope they won't feel too hot in summer. No break-in time necessary. Extraordinarily comfortable. Good if you have a narrow heel and wide toe. I bought these after my Asolo 530 boots gave out - I can't complain since I used them heavily for 15 years and walked hundreds of trail miles. I knew I'd be buying Asolo’s again and wrote the company to ask which boots had the most similar fit to the now-discontinued 530's, and they recommended the 535's. I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to hitting the trails this summer.

Great leather hiking boot - I bought this boot for hiking in cool and wet conditions since I dearly love my Asolo Stynger GTX boots in drier weather. They have the same grin inspiring fit. If you have narrow feet, try them on...you'll grin. I have hiked all over in them, and don't suffer from tired, sore feet at the end of the day. While the leather became a lot more comfortable after it broke in, they never hurt, and I've never had a blister wearing them. (Wearing sock liners and lightweight wool hiking socks ended blisters for me). I have lower back troubles, but these boots are supportive and don't feel like weights on my feet, even though they're pretty substantial. I find I end up wearing them around town when I need a nice, solid shoe, and my back and feet stay happy. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them. One note: when they were new, they tended to pull my socks down. After a couple day hikes, they softened and it stopped.

Superb Boot - Took this boot on a 32 day backpacking trip in the Willmore Wilderness near Jasper in Alberta. I didn't even have to break these boots in! Didn't get a single blister, any rubbing-ANYTHING! These boots provide amazing support! My ankles fared remarkably well considered our days out. Only suggest that if you have the money, purchase the Gore-tex waterproof ones. I put a waterproof coating on these which worked okay, but walking in wet boots-no matter how nice they are, for 20 days can drag you down!

Fabulous boots so far- I have only owned these for a few weeks but have worn them on several hikes, and as a general outdoor/work boot. I did not find them too stiff, but I do like a boot that gives good ankle support. I just found them very comfortable... but I wasn't expecting a sneaker either. They are incredibly nice-looking... a very attractive shape which happens to be much more comfortable than those spoon-shaped boots which claim to accommodate wider feet, while giving you blisters because your toes splay out with every step. The width here is built in around the level of your pinky toe, and then the boots taper toward the end. And they make you feel quite tall, which I like. I checked that the boot felt wider than marked, mainly because I normally have to order up to get a good fit, but I didn't this time.

Great boot. I love this boot. I found that they broke in really quickly, and were comfortable from the first step. They give plenty of support, waterproof well, and are extremely versatile. They're a steal for 100 bucks!

Asolo 535 V - Great boot. Sizing appears to be standard. I wear a 5.5 womens and they fit like a 5.5. They're comfy, warm, and I think, farily light weight. They wear well all day-no foot fatigue. I highly recommend, and the price was great to boot (no pun intended)!

These boots are beautifully made. But they are very stiff and unforgiving on the front of the ankle. The collar is very stiff. The footbed is still a little long, even for a 7.5 I usually where an 8, but even the 7.5 is a little long. I am skeptical about the arch support.

Be sure to examine all views of shoes before purchasing - This shoe is stiff and probably shouldn't be worn by people with lower back and/or specific gait problems. I am an over-supinator. I think this shoe was designed for over-pronators (See back view--I wasn't aware that heels like this existed, so I didn't check out back view before ordering). This shoe aggravated my SI joint disfunction, etc. My chiropractor said that this shoe doesn't have enough "give."

I normally like Asolos, but I HATE these. The ankle was so stiff that as I walked and it hit my lower calf, it built a knot--so painful, that I was better off wearing little trail hikers despite my 80+ bag. I've worn heavy-duty boots before, mostly ones compatable w/crampons, but I thought I'd do well with a heavier packing boot as I'd be guiding in the summer. WRONG! my mid-weights are just fine, the footbed and toe box are comfortable...the boot is extremely stiff. If you need a lot of support, (I found out from my doctor and PT that I don't require it) then this is it, if not, you can find better. I think they make Asolo's in general fit a womans foot well, the heel cup is cut perfectly for a medium sized foot and on through the rest of the shoe...not sure how wide feet would do, but narrows should have no prob.

Top quality boot - I bought these to replace the ones I bought 15 (!) years earlier. Not exactly as pictured - laces are more rope-like and lining is dark brown, not tan. They will feel stiff at first but break in for excellent ankle support. Overall, unbeatable.

These are so comfortable. I feel secure, safe, my ankles are protected, I can step on absolutely anything, and I can walk for miles and miles and miles in these. Love them. I didn't need any breaking-in time at all, personally, but then that might just be me. I wear thick socks with all of my shoes, so I always order a half size up. Maybe this is also why I didn't need any adjustment time. Great shoes!
