This is my third pair of Asolo boots. The narrow width of the Asolo, is the only boot that fits my foot well. Previous to this boot, I have owned the TPS 535. I thought I would try out something a little different, and with gore-tex. I owned this boot for 18 months before it became unwearable. From the beginning this was the most comfortable boot I have had, lighter, and a faster break-in time than the all-leather boots I usually get. There are a few issues I have with this boot. First, the sole is not a Vibram sole, and it wore out much faster than any boot I have had. After 18 months it is smooth, almost all tread is gone. In addition, it’s soft enough to allow holes from nails to let water in. The Suede leather on this boot does not come waterproofed. It needs a heavy coat, I discovered this winter camping when they were soaked for 4 days. I was not impressed with the gore-tex, and in my opinion, it was not superior to a good coat of sealant on a regular boot, it did eventually start leaking. The toe rand separated from the nearby suede, letting water in. The boot generally wore out along all the seams, becoming cracked and separating, in addition, the rand became cracked. In the end, I would say this is a comfortable boot, but don’t expect it to last for 5 years like my TPS 535s did, with plenty of sole left. I will not buy them again, unless the style changed a bit, I don’t trust them. Bottom line, I just purchased a pair of TPS 535s and I look forward to the break in process.

I am writing this review to inform my fellow hikers of a little uncommon piece of knowledge that I wish I had known before buying the ASOLIO Fugitive boots. You must realize that the boots are designed to fail within about five years. By fail I mean delaminate. Let me explain. Last week I was two miles from my car near Sedona when the soles of both shoes my ASOLO boots began to disconnect. I toppled head first when a sole caught a rock on the trail. I landed on my hands and scraped my right palm. This is when I noticed the soles were coming apart! After about a quarter of a mile the right sole became so detached that I was force to remove it and walk in my sock. After another half mile the other left foot sole became too loose to walk on. At this point I was forced to hobble in my socks back to my car. The pain of this ordeal was quite intense. I had these boots about four years and had used them about 10 times for hiking. This should not have happened and I feel it is unacceptable. I requested a refund or replacement but was told that this often happens and to go find a cobbler by their phone contact. What? This is common! I cannot believe that a pair of boots so highly recommended is doomed to failure. The only companies I found that provide an acceptable guarantee were Cabelas and LLBean (both these companies claim to guarantees their boots for life under normal wear and tear). Having your boots fall off your feet is not normal.

This is a really sturdy shoe, well made and fairly comfortable although somewhat stiff. The main drawback is that the soles are EXTREMELY SLIPPERY on wet rocks and wet roots. I\'ve almost fallen everytime there is any moisture on smooth surfaces but they are great on all other surfacees and are nicely waterproofed.

So all the boots and shoes I order are size 10 1/2 wide or even EE and fit great, however Asolo builds this boot just a little bit too tight. So the day these came I right away ordered the next size up (had been waiting for some time for this model to come back in stock!) Just got the size 11 10 min ago and they are just right! Good thing returns are not complicated.

Had Merrill hiking boots for years but needed wider boot. Tried these for trails and light mountain hiking. They are all I expected and have held up for the past 3 years. Will definitely buy these again. The price is reasonable given the comfort, support and durability. I do not write reports unless I have really tried the product out. Rocks, water, and rough terrain are easier with these boots!

What I look for in a work boot is comfort, ankle support, and breathability. The Asolo Fugitive provides all of that plus it's water proof. I Haven't done any hiking in them but as a construction worker up and down 8' ladders and scaffolding all day, I can attest these are the best boots for any one who active on their feet and wants support. The soles have a grip to them and are not overly stiff, minimal break in. Nor does the boot weigh a lot, especially for the amount of support they provide in the footbed and ankle area. I've never had blister or even a hot spot from them. I would recommend merino wool socks year around. Lastly I am not someone who just bought a pair of boots and decided to write about them after owning them for a week. I am on my 3rd pair and wear them every day I go to work. So far each pair has lasted about 2 years. Enjoy them they are worth the price.

My husband has boney narrow flat feet, we're both in the military so boots are our thing. In the past his feet have had so much trauma from ill fitting military boots, long forced ruck marches that last days in poor weather and rough terrain. He was able to wear these boots right out of the box and served him well for 10 years. They finally fell apart while hiking 28 miles for a German Eidelweiss badge of which he pulled a pair of low quarter La Sportiva approach shoes out of his ruck sack to finish the last 8 miles. These boots have handled extreme temperatures, snow shoes, even cramp-ons and hiking lava fields in Hawaii. There is no other boot he will wear. So here I am at this website to purchase another pair. Not every foot is good for this boot it seems if you need more volume go with Asolo in full leather and Gortex. My best friend with a size 12 foot, a decent arch and chunkier feet swears by them.

Now on my third pair of these boots. Wear them almost every day for farming and other outdoor activities. Feet stay comfortable and dry through all kinds of weather and terrain up until insulated boots become necessary. My first pair were not very good on ice or packed snow, but it seems the sole rubber has been improved since then. Best all around boot I have owned in my 76 years (including Bean boots).

Very comfortable boot. This is my 5th pair of Asolo boots and this may be my favorite next to the now discontinued TPS Highland. It's very well made and I really like the capped nylon toe of the front of the boot, which really prevents scuffs and water penetration.

Great Boots - A couple of co-workers turned me on to these boots and let me say...these boots are the best boots I have ever owned! Well worth the money. Over the last twenty years with careers in the military, security contracting and law enforcement I have come across and owned a lot of boots. These are by far the most comfortable and are pretty darn cool looking too. I have the Tundra color and am always getting compliments when I wear these. Be advised if you have a wide foot these are not for you. I have narrow feet so they fit perfect. Hoping these last a loooong time, but looking forward to buying more Asolo boots.

Asolo, great buy - These boots may look a little colorful online, but they are truly great classy boots. They break in easily, and are tough as nails. Have held up to the worst New England has to offer with flying colors for the past 2 years, and are still in great shape.

Great boot - I bought the fugitive to replace my Danner 453s which I had 2 years or so. This boot fit a little narrow at first, but within an hour or two, shaped to my foot quite nicely. I love the feel of this boot. Holds my foot in place through the roughest terrain. With the Danner's, the toe box is a little wide so you can fit thicker socks and still not be cramped. In the summer mine felt a tad sloppy on my feet. Highly recommend the fugitive, but if you want to spend a little less money, go with the 453s.

Asolo Fugitive GTX - Great fit right out of the box. Comfort was very good, until after 5 or 6 hours of hiking. Then they got a little hard. Has great grip and is water resistant.

Good foot - Bad foot - I just recently purchased this boot and have been trying to break them in. The right boot fits like a million dollars, the left boot hurts my instep under the hooks and laces. After about 20 miles, different weight socks, foot liners and heal inserts I'm still trying to figure out how to get very far from home with this boot. The arch support is great, the soles are a little stiff yet.

Great boot - I love my pair, but the one complaint I have is that Asolo seems to run very narrow. Unless you have very skinny feet, I would recommend wide by default for comfort.

Looked around a long time before deciding on this one - I looked long and hard in trying to find a waterproof hiking boot. My feet are wide so I am somewhat limited in selection at local stores. I bought some Vasque Summit GTX shoes last year and, even though I bought them in wide, I ended up with corns on both my pinkie toes. So, I was back in the stores and internet sites again looking this year. The Fugitives (wide version) are quite comfortable out of the box and seem to be well put together. However, I find them to be smaller than what I am used to -- I tried them on with thick socks and had to go up a half size. My only complaint is that I think they could be a bit better looking. The only color I could get in my size (and wide) was the "wool" color, which has a butt ugly red stripe down the back that make the boots look like bowling shoes. However, all things being equal, I'd rather have a boot that fits well and is ugly than one that looks nice (like the Summits) and gives me corns.

Great boot! Excellent composition, looks and feels great. Only drawback is that it takes more than a moment to cinch the fifth eyelet/lace. Otherwise great boot if you don't mind the $$$.

Hiking boots don’t get any better than this. I’ve had all kinds of hikers and spent thousands on boots, but this is it the end all be all. Asolo nailed it. The fit is perfect. For hiking I’ll only wear a fugitive, for street use I’ll only wear a Dr. Martens 0939. Take it from a guy who has a huge boot collection. These are it… period. Buy them you won’t be sorry. P.S. they are from Romania and run a hair on the narrow side so if in doubt they do come in a wide version.

Most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I'll admit I've only had them for one day so far, but wow. Putting these on, was like an epiphany. So that's how boots should fit. The back of the boot hugs your heel and Achilles tendon and the arch is just enough. Very light weight compared to all the boots I've worn. The marriage of form and function. Perfect boot. I own the green ones, and they're cool as hell. Unique but not flashy.

What an amazing hiking boot!! Forget the fact that this boot is one of the best looking among the higher end hiking boots available. This boot performs great! Unbelievably comfortable. I wore them to work for a few days to break them in and I'm not even sure it would have been necessary. They were comfortable from the first moment I put them on. So far they've only been through a few miles in the Mexican jungle (the terrain consisted of mild rolling hills with tons of jutting limestone, mud and snaking tree roots), but I only have a few gripes with them overall. I'd prefer a little more ankle support and the soles seemed a bit slippery on the larger flat pieces of wet limestone and wood (I'm attributing this to the fact that it was the first real hike for these shoes and expect the traction to get better with time). Definitely recommended!!

I found the boot of my dreams! About two and a half years ago, I bought my first pair of Asolo Fugitive GTX's. It was the best move I could've made. Most of the reviews pertain to hiking / backpacking, but I must say that I wore mine for work as well. I figured I wore these boots about 70-80 hours a week, every week! I worked ‘em hard, and took ‘em on trails too. Not only did they hold up, but they were comfortable and waterproof at the same time. Sadly, I finally wore them out. But I am online purchasing a new pair right now! I can’t wait to get my new pair! Asolo, you have a customer for life!

Great boot for the buck! 20 years in the military taught me to take care of my feet. Dry, comfortable support. The sticky soles keep your feet firmly planted and the firm base provides a stable platform on rugged terrain. Construction and material quality... outstanding! Excellent value. Zappos service is the icing on the cake!
