Shoes are roomy - After two weeks of use, I find these shoes quite comfortable. The length and width are fine, but I have high arches and had to put in insoles on top of the ones in the shoe.

Nice comfortable blah shoe - I tried several shoes from Zappos before buying the Rockport Northfield. I needed to replace a pair of brown waterproof oxfords I'd beaten over the past several years, and get black instead of brown, as my wardrobe has more than khaki pants these days. They are a nice fit; usually Rockports don't fit me well, and are a simple, conservative look. They look good with jeans and Dockers, and can be worn with dress pants, too. They were comfortable enough to wear as my only shoe on a business trip right out of the box. The Redwing Beacon was comfortable and a nice fit with more "contemporary" styling, but wasn't waterproof. I couldn't get the Hush Puppies Airborn or Dockers Shelter to feel comfortable no matter what size I bought. I'm not a good person to define sizing, as my shoes run from 8-9 and from D-4E width, depending on the shoe.

Perfect fit - This shoe felt perfect right out of the box and can definitely be worn as a casual dress shoe. Great support and comfort matched with excellent customer service provided by Zappos.

Rockport Northfield - First Class Results - I wanted a light, waterproof and comfortable shoe for extensive walking while on holiday in Europe. The Northfield exceeded my expectations. It is a quiet shoe (doesn't squeak on church floors), non-slip sole great on museum floors, and the cushion factor is very good. The sole conforms to the cobblestones found in most central cities. One can add orthodics without any problems (remove the insole). Uppers are essentially maintenance free - it doesn't really take a wax shine too well. It is waterproof up to a couple of inches of water. Goes well in a pair of jeans or khaki pants or in a pinch, dress pants.

Great shoes for a good price! The more I wear 'em, the more comfortable they feel. Looks good, too! Highly recommended.

Comfy Walkers - Soft leather, no break-in time. Very comfy arch support and inner sole cushion. Waterproofing works! Surprisingly cool (I thought "waterproof" would mean "hot and sweaty" but that's not the case here). Very, very comfy.

Dream shoe. Work on my feet all day. Best shoe I have found yet. Immediately comfortable.

Good trade off - I bought this shoe for comfort and light weight not for looks. It looks OK enough to wear to the office -- better than most such -- and is as comfortable as I had hoped.

Great Shoes-very comfortable - Very comfortable, especially if you're on your feet a lot. Good looking also.

Great shoe - I bought these shoes as a birthday gift for my husband. He has other Rockports but this pair is his favorite! My husband has a wide foot so this Rockport fits great. He said they are so comfortable and he really likes the look!

Great Walking Shoes. We bought these walking shoes for business trips to Europe where it's frequently raining. These aren't as dressy as we'd like, but they're super comfortable and good enough in a down pour.

Comfort right out of the box - Quite possibly the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Zero break-in period, and I've had similar shoes continue to tear up my Achilles even after wearing them for a week. I might just buy an extra pair. The outsole did seem to have early signs of wear but I'll accept that.

A Quality Product - With B-width feet, I have trouble finding shoes that fit and have come to rely on Zappos as my shoe source and Rockport’s as my shoe of choice. I've owned at least ten pairs of Rockport’s over the years and recently added the Northfield as a bad-weather shoe. The shoe does seem to run a half-size larger than advertised, so I'm glad I ordered a 10.5 rather than my usual 11. I'm not a big fan of the look of the squared off toe box on this model (and on the Margin, which I also own). I know the squared toe is a trendy look for the younger generation, but for this 50-something it's a bit clunky. Still, I'm willing to live with this style quibble in exchange for the Rockport fit and durability (I have Rockport loafers that I've worn for more than 15 years, resoling 3 or 4 times!)--as well as this shoe's ability to ward off the elements. I'd much rather wear the squared-toe Northfield than have to put ugly rubber slipovers over other shoes! All in all, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. And, of course, I'm continually amazed at how easy it is to order shoes from Zappos. What a great company!

Reliable and well made - I have been wearing these shoes for nearly a decade. On the plus side, they are waterproof, they come in narrow widths, they are very good for walking long distances, and they have room for orthotics. Another plus is that they are not easy to wear out; it's a tough, well made shoe. The only negative, if you want to call it a negative, is that the lugged sole doesn't look quite right with dressy business clothes. But certainly they will do for business casual. In summary it's a proven, reliable shoe.

Great casual or semi-dress shoe - The reason I like this shoe is that they can be worn with a pair of chinos or a sport coat or a pair of jeans.

Rockport Northfield - These are great. I bought my first pair about 3 years ago and they were so comfortable I purchased them in all three colors. I just replaced the black ones. Not only are they comfortable but completely water proof. I wear them everyday and walk through rain and snow without worry that I may get wet feet or ruin the shoes. They are my dress shoes, walking shoes, jean shoes and casual shoes. Buy a pair!

Best of Five - This pair is a winner for comfort and good thick, cushioned soles. It also came with a label that indicated that it should stand up to wet weather well, which is a bonus for a man who uses a lot of public transportation year-round. Other shoes tried for comparison in this order were: Rockport Margin (great, but not a thick a sole), Keen Austin (looser fit all around, not as desirable for this guy), Clarks Portland (slipped when walking, but so awesomely comfy that Clarks will top the shopping list next time, even if they are a bit ugly), Born Tribune (almost won for looks and comfort--really great, but again the sole wasn't quite as thick, and it was more binding across the joints when flexed.) In spite of the fact that two pairs ago, had Rockports and the sole cracked, trying this brand again. They lasted a good long time before they cracked. Last pair was a Dunham and wore those clean out, also a great shoe.

Casual comfort - Looks good, comes narrow for those who need or prefer it tighter.

Kept shoes on all day at work - My husband usually takes his shoes off the minute he gets to work, but with these he said he kept them on ALL day because they were so comfortable!

Best shoe ever! This is the only shoe that fits my foot. I am very worried that they are discontinuing this model. It is a very versatile shoe - good for casual and dress.

Stunning experience!!! I found what I wanted, ordered it with ease and my order arrived lightning fast! I'm a Detective Sergeant and I work long hours on my feet - so quality shoes are very important. I have told all my friends & co-workers that Zappos is the only way to buy shoes!

Great shoe - This is my 2nd pair of this shoe. I use the shoe for work. I am on my feet a lot as I am a manager in a very busy corporate mail room. These shoes are very comfortable and do very well standing on my feet all day. If there is one negative about the shoe is that when the sole wore out they easily slid on wet floors. But other then that great shoe.

Rockport Northfield Shoes - My second pair of Rockport’s for work (I am a teacher). They are very comfortable, even after a day on my feet in front of students.

Great fit for my wide feet - I've got extra-wide feet so I always have trouble finding shoes that fit properly for under $100. I've bought several different wide shoes from Zappos with mixed success. I finally picked up a pair of these in black when I found them in XW here; the wides I got before at a local store were close but just a little too narrow. Now that I have the 12XW, I like them so much that I'm thinking of buying a second pair in brown -- and even a third pair if the brown suede reappears. They're the most comfortable shoes I've had in years!
