Great Boots! This is a beautiful, well-constructed boot that looks great with jeans, skirts or dresses. I ordered the coco color and was pleasantly surprised to see that they are actually suede. They felt a bit stiff when I initially put them on but have quickly loosened up -- you can even adjust the fit with the laces. The best bit is of course Zappos' superior customer service. I ordered these boots on Thursday afternoon and they arrived by Friday afternoon!

These fit great and are very comfortable! I bought a pair of Frye Villager Lace-Up boots in size 6, and they fit perfectly with a little wiggle room for my toes to make everything more comfortable. Although the soles were full-leather, I did not experience slipping or falling while wearing these. However, I do suggest walking around for a little bit on concrete to rough the soles up and give them some friction. The size and the width fit true to size. I walked around in these for hours at work and they were very comfortable. For reference, my feet are 9-inches long.

Stunning Boots! I have wanted these boots (espresso color) for over a year, and I finally bought them! They arrived yesterday, and are even more beautiful than I expected. I decided to order a half size down based on other customer suggestions. I normally wear a size 10, ordered a 9.5 and they truly are perfect! I'll be able to wear them with socks, even tights and they should be fine. I have thin calves, and boots like this never seemed to fit right, but these Frye's are perfect. I put them on immediately and wore them in the house for hours. :-) Comfortable and easy to walk in if you are used to walking in heels. Now I just need some outfits to go with them. Worth the investment, and I look forward to having them as a great addition to my wardrobe! The espresso color is so versatile and is just amazing. I highly recommend this boot!

OH WOW - I got these boots yesterday (the espresso version), literally 30 minutes before I headed out the door to a club. I walked to the metro and all over D.C. (easily a good mile or so of walking), plus, I danced the night away. This should have been insanely painful in brand new boots, but it wasn't. In fact, they were comfortable the whole night! Wow!!! I wore them with jeans, so the lace didn't show, but they were still adorable! The only warning is that I typically wear a 7.5. I bought these in a 7 and found them to be a little big still, but perfect with a pair of socks.

Comfort and Style - I'm vertically challenged. So, rarely do I feel comfortable wearing flats unless it's summer and I've got a dress on or I'm exercising. Comfortable heels are crucial to my wardrobe. Comfortable high-heeled boots are the staple of my winter footwear. These are a must-have and it has a great slimming effect on your legs (it's snug around the calves). Great craftsmanship and attention to detail. Supple leather inside and out!

Holy Grail boots! I have the Espresso version of the Villager and absolutely love them. Is it black? Is it brown? It could go either way! I have exceptionally thin calves and they fit perfectly. I'm a high-heel girl (people think I'm 3" taller than I am because I am always in heels), so these are as comfortable as heels come-- no pointy toes to cram into, even without inserts, they don't hurt the balls of my feet and no wobbly sensation. They look great with skirts, pants, jeans... perfect all the way around. I did not find them especially heavy (and I can't wear Doc Martens for that reason - they kill my knees). They absolutely run large and for that reason, I couldn't order them from Zappos - no size 5!

Love my Fryes! These boots are incredible! I have wide calves (15" circumference) and these fit because of the lace up - they adjust quite a bit. I love the style and haven't had any problems with seams so far (fingers crossed). I put gel insoles in these and can wear them all day. Like other reviewers, I recommend ordering a size smaller. I usually take a 9, ordered an 8.5, and wish I had ordered an 8.

Villager Lace - Love this boot! I bought a pair of the distressed brown villager lace boots a few years ago, before the lace-up became "the" style, and I've not had a single problem with them. No seam problems whatsoever and I've worn them for almost four years. I bought a pair in espresso last year, and again, no seam problems. I have thin ankles and calves, but I don't know if that would make a difference. They run up to a full size larger, however. I am a true 8.5, and I have both a 7.5 and an 8 in this boot, and both fit fine, depending on the thickness of the sock I choose. I have two other pairs of Frye boots, and I've always been completely satisfied with the quality. I rate these a 4 for comfort based only on the heel height, as I wouldn't recommend walking great distances in them. But they've never caused me any discomfort.

Frye Villager Lace - I also have these same boots and love them, but you are right about the bottoms. I DID FALL BECAUSE OF THE SLIPPERY SOLES. I took them to a shoe repair and had him take care of the problem. He pulled out those nails in the front of the boot and then cemented a heavy rubber sole on them. Now they are great. Great casual boot - These boots are great. I bought them in summer and could not wait for cool weather in which to wear them. Worth every penny of the full price I paid (which I rarely do!) I have the distressed brown. They are a bit more casual than I even expected from Frye, but they are the hotness. Easy to wear with any kind of jeans. You can tuck in pretty easy, and you can also wear them under flares, or peeking out from under cuffed jeans. Also of course with skirts. If you are the racy type I'm sure these look hot with shorts too. No problem with any seams ripping and I wore them to death all fall and winter. I have "problem feet" having had bunion surgery but I was able to walk in these heels without tons of pain. They are awesome!

Frye Boots - I bought these boots at Nordstrom and I too had the problem with the seams ripping (on both shoes). I took them to a cobbler and they fixed and reinforced the stitching for $8.00. I have worn them several times since and they are holding up well. I think it is worth it since these boots are one of my favorites.

Love these boots! I got these boots to wear with one specific outfit but I find that they are so versitile that I'm wearing them much more often. They do run a little large but I put pads in them & wear thicker socks and they are fine. I have thin calves and they fit tight around my legs, which is the look that I like.

Fantabulous! I am the boot junkie from Kentucky and have just found my latest "favorite" FRYE boot. I have the brown (distressed look) and LOVE them. Although the heel is a bit higher than my other FRYE's, they are a extremly comfortable with virtually no break in time. Versus the Daisy's which need a couple of wearings before you get the full comfort and the Dorado Slouch which are very comfy, also require a little wearing before they have confomred to your feet. These do seem to run about a half size larger than the others listed. I bought my usual, size 6, but my next will be a 5.5 and Expresso. Frye are a bit pricey, but to me worth every penny paid. I would highly recommend these to everyone who wants a hot looking, comfortable, durable and versitale boot. Only complaint, I'm ruined for life as I will never be able to find any other boots to satisfy me as these do. Oh, don't forget, ZAPPOS is the only place to shop! Can't be beat!

Beautiful boot - These boots are gorgeous. They are a little uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. There is no support or cushioning at all. Otherwise, definitely worth the money.

Great Boot, Great Style - Love this boot; I get a lot of compliments when I wear them. I put in padded inserts to make them more comfortable, overall I can stand in them for hours. Zappos customer service is the best!! I had these boots the day after I ordered them.

Sexy and Comfy - Absolutely adore them. I've only worn them a couple of times but I'm hoping I don't have that back seam problem! That would break my heart. They are definitely a little on the big side but I wear thick socks and it seems to work out fine. The only other problem I find is that they are a bit stiff up the calves, not tight, but the leather is stiff (as new leather tends to be). I suppose after they are "broken in" I won't have that problem though.

Wonderful boots - I love these, I had to walk all over two airports for much longer than expected in these boots and my feet felt great. Beautiful too. I usually wear a size 11, ordered a size 11, and received a 10, but it fit!

Beautiful shoe, but it's too narrow in the calf and I will sadly have to send it back. Not sure if they sent me the wrong color or the heel just isn't the color it's supposed to be, but it's not black and that slightly detracts from the otherwise flawless appearance.

Great Looking boots, had a small problem - Got these boots 2 days ago - I wore them yesterday, the boots look fabulous and got lots of compliments on them. HOWEVER, at the end of my day (and I sit all day) I noticed that the back seam on the right boot (heel) had ripped open. SO disappointed! The boots were not tight either, I don't know why this happened, though I did read another review on here about these same boots that said the same thing. I called Zappos customer service this morning, and no problem! They are sending me a replacement pair overnight and I should have them by Monday! The customer service here is wonderful!! I only hope that this next pair doesn't split open, as I love the boots.

Awesome! I love these boots! I searched high and low for a pair that fit ME. I am short and most boots have a shaft that is too tall and hit me at the knee. These boots have laces and zippers to get just the perfect fit at the calf and ankle. They are made of a rougher leather (not shiny and smooth) but that didn't bother me. I bought half a size smaller than I normally wear. Honestly, I probably could have worn a whole size smaller. But they are fine. I'll just put on some thicker socks.

Love these boots! These are great looking boots. The leather is not smooth, but after I treated them with a protector, the look changed a little and the color darkened. They look great on; the heel is the right height for me. There is a zipper so you don't have to unlace them to put them on or take them off. I order a half size larger and they are comfortable.

Hot boots! Love the fit even better than the look! Wish Frye offered more that are similar to this style. As always, Zappos is a pleasure to work with.

Back for more. I love my first pair in distressed brown from last year, and now I am totally digging my new Villagers in Espresso this year. They are gorgeous with this season's skinny jeans and best of all they are perfectly comfortable. Need to order 1/2 size smaller.

Pretty, Cool - Every time I wear these boots I can get praise from my friends (different guys or girls). They're also very comfortable. Though the heels are a little high, but you can't feel like that. I normally wear 6.5, for this boot, I ordered 6 and it worked out very well.

Sexy boots!! I love these boots!! Very sexy over jeans or with a cute skirt. Not the most comfortable boots I own, but well worth it.
