I grew up on a ranch in Montana so reliable snow gear was a constant necessity from October to April. When I turned 13 my mom bought me a pair of Caribou's in a bizarre coming-of-age family tradition...I was freed from cheap plastic snowboots that let snow pack around your ankles or crack after a month of sledding on the weekends. I remember her making a big deal out of it and I wasn't all that excited as a teenager to get these clunky boots (Ever a planner, she bought a size 10 - I even now only wear size 8.5 - so I could always wear thick socks and grow into them) but I don't know that I've ever loved or used a pair of footwear as much as those Caribous. They got me through the cold winters of junior high, high school, and then became my go-to commute boots in college.
That brings us to present day. My trusty first pair (just as reliable as 20 years ago) lives on at my parents' house for my use when I visit in the winter months but I recently got a second pair to have with me (now in Seattle) that I plan on having for the rest of my life. I am pleased to report that they are the correct size (ordered an 8 as indicated by Sorel's sizing chart - fits with just enough room for some cozy socks) and this time in the black, to switch things up a bit. I use them every weekend for pre and post cross-country ski adventures and plan on using them for winter treks next season. These are not the sleekest profile boot, but that's not why I get or love them - they are the warmest, comfiest, and highest quality, functional boot I've ever had the pleasure of wearing.

I went dogsledding in -18* F weather in Ely, MN and was loaned a pair of these boots! My feet never once got cold and upon returning home I bought this same boot for my next excursion up North! I found the fit to be slightly (very slightly) wider but you want your feet to be comfortable in extreme weather and to allow room for thick wool socks! Love Love Love this boot!

I have a pair of tall, quilted Keens that I’ve owned for years. They have gotten me through playing in the snow with my son and also look nice enough to wear to work with leggings and a sweater. Lately I had noticed that they were getting damp after wearing them outside. My feet were getting cold and as is pretty typical with Keens, the footbed starts to hurt after a while. So I was on a mission to find something new that was comfortable, more weather proof but still trendy. Not easy with snow boots. I’d been eyeing this style for a while. After reading endless reviews and seeing them go on sale, I decided to take the plunge. What a bummer. Although the boots ‘look good’ right out of the box, they were SO big and clunky. I felt like I had cinder blocks on my feet! I literally had a hard time walking. The foot bed was hard and they were very stiff overall. Sadly they are going back.

I live in Wyoming and a good pair of winter boots are essential. This is my third pair of Caribou boots. The first pair lasted 24 years. The 2nd pair lasted one year then the rubber on the toes cracked and the boots began to leak. I figured I just got a bad pair. I received this pair as a Christmas gift and they lasted less than 90 days, cracking in the exact same place as the last pair. These boots are junk. DO NOT BUY.

Lightweight warm and comfortable in snow, slush. I wear a men's size 11 shoe and ordered a 10.5 in these boots as others have suggested, and they are perfect. Happy to recommend these boots!

I love these boots! I was looking for a mid-height boot for time outdoors (fishing, exercising dog, etc) and for running errands that would be warm yet not as tall nor heavy as the Joans (which I also love). Sometimes in MN one needs the height of the Joans, but most often for a quick outing a shorter, lighter boot will do. They are heavy (but not as much as the Joans); if you are looking for a light boot these are not for you. These boots are comfortable and keep my toes warm even during extended times below zero. Easy on/off as well. I did order a size up as I have a wide foot; my daughter has a normal width, same length foot and ordered shoe size - both fit us well

This is a great product. Very warm, water proof, decent traction. The only potentially negative thing to note is you should order a 1/2 size down than your normal shoe size. I wear a 10m normally and I needed a 9.5 in these boots.
Cheers!!

These are amazing! They look just like the picture and run true to size. They're great for walking on snow and ice. Prior to purchasing these, I struggled to keep my footing while walking my dog. These have been a major game changer. Not only am I able to maintain my balance, but these also keep my feet super warm and dry.

Based on reviews stating they ran very large, I ordered my true size (7.5M) and a half-size smaller (7M). I have fairly narrow feet, and did not find these boots ran large at all. The 7.5 fit better, with a bit of room for thicker socks. The 7 would not have worked. They are big boots but I don’t find them overwhelmingly bulky. The lining is removable, which presumably will be convenient if they get wet inside. I’m looking forward to wearing them on an upcoming family ski trip.

Disclaimer: I'm a size 8, and ordered an 8.5 -- which I regret, as the boots wound up being a tad too large for me, even with a double layer of wool socks.
HOWEVER: I was out in Anchorage for about a week volunteering for the Iditarod. and these boots were very comfortable. The fact that they were just a bit too large didn't impede function at all. I was outside traipsing around in snow 90% of the time, and not only did these boots keep my feet totally warm, but dry.

I purchased these to have a boot to wear in the cold weather in Minnesota and for the Iowa snows. These boots fit large and made my size 8.5 feet look like a mens 11. They were very warm, but felt heavy and too large to walk properly in. I ended up exchanging them for a 1964 PAC 2 which are the warmth I was looking for along with the size.

I am so glad I bought these boots!! They are beautifully styled and do the job they were designed to do. They are so warm and toasty I couldn't believe I was walking through snow! I got plenty of compliments too! I'm glad I listened to advice to get a half size smaller because that worked out well. They are very roomy! I'm normally a 7 1/2 but got a 7. Also I didn't find them too heavy at all. I can't say enough good things about these boots, they're just perfect. I got the black colourway.

Great boots for the snow, kept my feet warm and dry. When the snow became icey, felt like it gave me some traction. Very stiff boot, though. But, didn’t expect anything more considering the style.

I purchased these to replace my husband's 20+ year old pair. They were replaced, not because of any defect, but because gel foot warmers had melted themselves into the boot. Here's to 20 years in the new pair!

This is the first time purchasing Sorel boots. Normally I buy Timberland because I have been wearing forever and they also sell quality boots at an affordable price. However this year, I bought Sorels during their end of year sale and couldn't be happier. Great value at price and feels good on your feet.

This is my third pair of Sorel snow boots in the last 40 years, so I can say they are durable. The Caribou is the style I've worn for the last 20 years. I just bought the newest version. The new, improved sole provides superior traction on ice and snow. I think it's important that customers know that this boot snugs up tight against your legs or pants so even if you're in snow that's deeper than these boots your feet stay warm and dry, no snow will fall in to your boots, so you do not need a taller boot.

I was looking for a more casual fitting boot to use around the resorts and around town while in Tahoe. I also wanted a boot that was easier to drive in. I also have the Sorel Conquest boots, which are a more substantial but stiffer boot.
The Caribou boots are much easier to wear casually and are exactly what I was looking for.
As for sizing, I wear a 10.5 in running shoes. I wear a 9.5 and 10 in dress shoes and chukka style boots. I tried a 9.5 and 10 in the Caribou boots and the 10 fit better.

These were recommended by a friend. Bought a pair for me and a pair for my daughter. We absolutely LOVE them! They look great on and keep our feet SO warm. Only boots I will ever buy again! We live in San Diego but go to Big Bear throughout the winter! Thank you Sorel!

These boots run HUGE! I am a size 10 and got these in a 9.5 and those were huge still. I ended up returning them and buying the size 9 which was better, but I probably could have gone down to an 8.5. They are big, boxy and clunky BUT so comfortable and warm. I tromped around town all weekend in the cold and snow and think these boots are great. Definitely recommend for cold weather and snow when you are outside. I got a less clunky pair of winter boots for more practical use.

I bought this boot to replace a similar pair that were 12 years old which have packed out a bit. They are warm, waterproof and very comfortable. I use them at work as a ski school greeter for the Breckenridge Ski resort. They look very attractive with my down skirt and tights. These are the BEST boots ever! I will take my old pair to VT where I have a second residence.
I bought a half size larger so I could wear woolly socks with them.
