I ordered this style in the black nappa and had slight problems, but at the same time they were too big to ignore. The boots were great except the part where the tongue and boot meet. It dug into my feet and hurt too much to keep them. However it's not because of the width of the boot. I have wide-ish feet and the width was just right. It was just that darn seam! I just felt the boot wasn't as finished as it could've/should've been since I've owned other brands of similarly built boots and never have had a problem like that. For the price I feel a little more could've been done about that! Otherwise, they would've been fine. The leather is great. It's soft yet not weak, and feels already broken-in. If I decide to give Docs a try again, I'd for sure go back for a style in the black nappa. I still would really like a pair, growing up in the 90s and all, but I'll give my hunt a break for now. Perhaps the men's version of this style might fit better?

Want to look like you're cosplaying Docs with low end plastic boots? Then this is your boot. For $169, these were an INCREDIBLE letdown, and I have no idea how there are so many favorable reviews. Maybe they had a recent change in materials? That's the only conclusion I can come to because even looking at these boots from a distance, there is no mistaking them for quality leather. They SCREAM "pleather". The trim around the top is particularly unforgivable. You know the plastic trim on a really cheap purse? That's exactly what the top trim looks like. In my opinion, the only thing you are paying for is the easy to recognize yellow tag and stitching. My conclusion: FIT- As expected. 7M fits like a 7M WORKMANSHIP: Stitching etc is good COMFORT- Feels cheap inside and stepping causes obvious white stress lines to the super thin outer shell APPEARANCE -$39 pleather boot STATUS- Returned

My daughter really wanted to love this pair of boots. The part of the tongue that attaches to the rest of the boot has extra material/leather on the inside. When you step/bend your foot hurts/hits the top of your foot. This was only on the right boot. The left one was sewn perfectly and smooth with no extra material. When we put our hand inside the boot we noticed the difference. We actually were tempted to cut this extra part off. But decided to return this pair and hope the next one we order is sewn correctly.

I'm going to start off by saying that I love the style of these boots. The black patent leather is beautifully shimmery and edgy without being over the top. They're a mild statement piece that go as well with skirts as they do pants. HOWEVER these boots are TERRIBLE to break in. The first time I wore them, they left the back of my heels raw and bleeding. I wore them a few times after that with thick socks and bandaids and they weren't too bad. So, I decided to wear them on a day trip to upstate NY that involved lots of walking. That was a HUGE MISTAKE. I wore long thick socks that went well above the upper edge of the boot, but by the end of the day I had a bleeding cut on my inner calf. That was six months ago and I STILL HAVE A SCAR ON MY LEG FROM THESE BOOTS. PLEASE BE CAREFUL BREAKING THEM IN. THEY WILL HURT YOU AND YOUR FEELINGS. I even wrote a story about them for a creative writing class to answer the prompt "tell us about a time when you experienced great physical pain." That's how much they hurt me. Just a warning :)

These shoes are definitely NOT made for walking because of it’s hard leather. Great style but very heavy and stiff.

This boot is so cute but hugely uncomfortable. Unfortunately I need to return them. They are very stiff and cut into the back of my calf.

Ouch!! So painful on my shins, and the top of my foot. I could only wear them for maybe 3 minutes. I don’t know how anyone could wear these boots. They’re super adorable but so disappointingly on comfort.

These are the worst boots ever made. A total disappointment. The seam at the toe and heel rubbed terribly as if they were made out of cardboard.

These were my first pair of Dr. Martens. I love the patent leather! I was told that they need a couple of wear to break it. I’m not sure it is was my narrow feet, but I did not have an issues when I first wore them. They were rather comfortable.

had these for almost 2 years for work and they are great, i have bad plantar fasciitis so i had to buy insoles, but after you break them in they are great. you will need long socks though but they are solid.

My daughter wore these boots to a school dance. They coordinated with her dress. She was comfortable and able to dance/stand all night

The fit is very comfortable, and I’m on my feet all day as a teacher. I love the look and they’re light enough to NOT feel like I’m “clunking “ around with cement shores on my feet all day long. I’ve gotten several compliments, by young people, so that means a lot —to me and the Doc Marten franchise.

Daughter typically wears 7.5 and has a narrow foot. We first ordered the 7 based on reviews suggesting to size down. Daughter found the 7 to be an ok fit but a tiny bit small. Exchanged for an 8, which is a tiny bit too big but will allow for heavier socks. Replacement arrived in one day. A++

I am usually an 8.5 and the 8 is working really well, though I am still breaking in the boots, and have formed a blister on my heel. Trying to take it in small amounts of time so that the leather adjusts. We're going to Europe in a month and I'm hoping they will be perfect by then.

I love my boots! They took some time to break in but now they feel great. I’m a US size 7.5 regular width in shoes and sneakers. In boots I wear a 8 regular and these fit just right in a size 8.

They are true to size. They will require some time to break in but that is to be expected. They aren’t huge and clunky. The patent leather looks great.

The size was a bit big - not a half size but bigger overall. I am concerned that they wrinkled though. I wore them out this weekend once and they did this. I am pretty disappointed that they look like this after 1 use.

What can you say about Docs that hasn't been said. These are excellent boots. They do require some breaking in, but I found them to be very comfortable very quickly. I generally wear a 6.5-7 in most shoes and the 7 fits perfectly. As always, they are very high quality and I was ecstatic to see Zappos carrying this brand.

I used mink oil to make them a bit softer and easier to break in. Bought true to my size and they feel great!

The fit was perfect! Just love the color. Need a little breaking in.

I have a narrow heel, low arch/instep, slightly wide across the ball of my foot. These are a perfect fit for me in my usual size. They may be a bit too roomy for those with narrow feet. But for me they were perfect right out of the box. Plus, even though I’m a size 11, they did not make my feet look big - which I kinda expected they would.

A little loose... but I would not size down a full size. I love them!
