I read one reviewer's comment that this shoe was styled more like a lady's shoe, so I decided to try it (men's shoes fit me better even though I'm a woman). Anyway, I sent it back because in person I really didn't like the way it looked. It looks ok from the photo, but on a foot it looks totally weird. Maybe too retro for my taste. Also, the insole felt very flat and stiff. No cushion like I always hope to find.

I'm sorry to say I was really disappointed with these shoes for running. Or even walking for that matter! They have really gone overboard with the heel and the sides of the shoe in the back. It looks and feels like you are wearing orthopedic shoes. They definitely have a very "old person" feel to them. But the worst part is how restrictive and unnatural they are - causing your foot to go in directions you don't want to go when you are running. I'm an experienced runner and these caused me to almost turn an ankle several times while running. Painful and ugly shoes. I had very much the opposite experience of a lot of these reviews and these shoes are now in the trash. Also know that these run really large. I am always a 12 in every shoes, but these felt like a 13.

Plain in style would not make any difference only if the upper sizes in thi brand were consistent with other brands. After size 11 the increase in sizes were barely discernable. Out of frustration in trying to get the right size I decided that these are designed wrong for the front of the foot (mine at least). Might cause someone to get bunions based on the front foot toe box shape. Look at Brooks, Nike, for more length accuracy allbeit narrower tendencies.
