This is my husband's third pair of these exact shoes. He finally decided the size he had worn was too short, and ended up with a half size up. Plus he has a wide foot, and this comes in one width. Before he wore Cole haan loafers, which I prefer, but there is no comparison to the comfort these are for him. I personally hate a rubber sole on a leather shoe, and much prefer the all leather, which he does wear when we go out... but the rest of the time, it is these. They have changed the profile of the rubber heel.. before it seemed more bulbous and obvious, now it has been trimmed somehow to a better silhouette - not noticeable, as he other was.

These run big.

I bought a pair of Mephisto Cap Vert in rust (brown) a few months ago. They are terrific shoes so I just bought a pair in black. First, they are great looking shoes, feel very well made and are comfortable. If you’re concerned about spending this much money on a pair of good casual shoes, read on. I’m glad I did. I am a size 9M or 9D in nearly every shoe I wear. Having gone through this once before with Mephisto Cap Vert shoes, I knew the drill. These shoes are a full size larger than marked, but true to width. Knowing that, I bought this shoe in a size 8M and it is a perfect fit right out of the box. Additionally, I know that they will relax, soften and will feel great. After just a few hours they are already forming to my foot. The insole is comfortable and provides firm support. In my first review I criticized them for not having more arch support. I like arch support. But after wearing the first pair now for over 6 months, I can now say that after wearing these shoes all day long, my feet don’t feel tired but well supported. The first pair are holding up extremely well and I expect that they will last a very long time. And then I must say that Zappos is terrific. Their customer service is unparalleled. I still can’t figure out how they ship product so quickly. Keep up the good work!

Excellent fit, purchased for my husband & he loves them

I HAVE WORN BALLYS AND FERRAGAMO SHOES FOR THE LAST 35 YEARS AND I STILL WEAR THEM, BUT THESE SHOES ARE EXCELLENT AND I FIND THEM VERY, VERY COMFORTABLE.

I am also a pharmacist on my feet over 12 hours a day. I am very particular about the shoes that I wear. They absolutely have to be comfortable and provide support. If they look good that's always a benefit. I've worn Mephisto in the past and have always found them to be a reliable shoe. That is until I bought this pair These shoe really are quite stylish but not the least bit comfortable. I was even thinking about buying Dr.Scholl's insert to make them comfortable because I liked the way they looked. Bottom line is that if you spend this much money on a pair of shoes you shouldn't have to put inserts in them to make them comfortable. I had to send them back and I got the Mephisto "Match" in place of the "Cap Vert". Although not as stylish they were very comfortable. Maybe the pair I got were defective but there wasn't anyway I could wear them to work and stand for 12 h

Good quality

My experience with Mephisto shoes is that they are typically larger. I normally wear mens size 9. I initially ordered this shoe in a size 8 1/2. The shoe was still too large and I had to exchange the shoe for a size 8 that works. A full size less than my 9.

High quality leather in uppers; sole is synthetic; heel loose. Very attractive but already loose at the heel and loafers lend to stretch.

Beware of this shoe if you have a high instep as I do. I could not wear them with cotton crew socks because of pain on top of the arch area. I can wear them barefoot and now they are slowly being broken in. Eventually they will stretch enough to wear with socks. I normally wear a 10.5 in medium or wide depending on the shoe. But I took the advice from reviews here and elsewhere to order a half size down to a 10 (44) and the length fit is fine. They were a bit snug in width, but that as well is slowly breaking in. Perhaps I should have bought the Hurrikan boat shoe instead because of the arch issue? They are both basically the same shoe, but with the Hurrican I could loosen up the laces to allow more instep room.

This is the second pair I've bought so obviously I like them. Two things you should be aware of. I also own a pair of Hurricane both pairs needed to be half a size less than I usually wear (9 versus 91/2). The cordovan color faded with time, 7+ years. Perhaps a different cleaning method might have prevented this but the shoes are still comfortable and look good

They feel very well made at first glance, but after wearing for a week I can’t endorse these shoes. After just a few wears, part of the upper is starting to come undone from the thread that holds the tongue to the sidewall of the shoe. The leather that has glued the insole down is also coming unglued after just a handful of wears. The sizing is also strange. These are UK sized, so I ordered my usual 9. I wear a 10.5 US in adidas sneaker. The right foot fits perfectly, but my left foot is smaller and the heel slip is pretty rough with that side. That’s on me and my weird anatomy.

I have purchased these shoes numerous times before and this ifsthe fist pair that seem snug.

This shoe seemed to tick all the boxes in terms of build quality, materials, and style for what I was looking for. Tried a couple difference sizes (half and full size down based on reviews) but wasn't able to dial in a fit without excess heel slippage. Normally wear a US11.5 in Sperry, Cole Haan, Sebago, and a 12 sneaker (11 in Chuck Taylors). Tried the Cap Ver in both US11 and 10.5. The Left shoe of the 10.5 pair felt the biggest of all. Both sizes were fine in length but my low volume foot was swimming otherwise. If you have a wide and/or higher-instep foot, these are worth a try. I really liked the shoe and wanted it to work. Dinged 1 star for bizarre sizing and another for price point. The leather is nice, but not $350 nice.

I bought a pair of these shoes about seven years ago. They were my favorite shoes and I wore them until they were worn down to almost trash. I recently bought a new pair...same exact model, size, color. They slip off my feet, hurt my toes and are just not the same. Very disappointed.

The shoes were defective, the sole was not glued. They came in a damaged box, not a Mephisto box, and with the two cotton protection bages were missing.
