These Mephisto's run large. I normally wear a 9-9.5 US and the US size 8 fits perfectly with a thin sock. I buy a new pair of these about every two years as they cannot be resoled. These are my go-to shoes for running about. They are comfortable as hell and are so much better looking than tennis shoes or trainers. I have them in Rust and they go with jeans or khakis. The inside is fully lined so you can wear them sock-less in summer and they are very comfortable when worn this way. Attached is a picture of my two year old pair with a new one...

Are you kidding me? Called Zappos at 1pm CST on Thursday and ordered these shoes. They arrived at 11am the next day. No shipping charge, no tax...just why would I deal with anyone else? My local shoe store, which is also a great store, doesn't carry the black model in this shoe. They could have ordered if for me, 7-10 days....on the way out of the store the salesperson said "why don't you try Zappos"... I did and I always will again....and these shoes are great. I own a pair in deep brown....excellent for being on my feet all day at trade shows and just lounging.... Customer for life

Remarks about Mephisto’s Cap Vert shoes - I am a pharmacist who is on his feet for 12 to 14 hours a day. For the past 5 years, I have purchased and worn Mephisto’s Cap Vert shoes every day. I own 5 pairs at this time, 2 black, 2 burgundy, and 1 pair of tan. I can wear these shoes all day long and my feet never hurt, never feel fatigued. The cushioned sole provides a maximum of support for the arch and ball of the foot. Plus they look very smart and stylish, a very clean and traditional look. I do need however to issue a complaint. The quality of the shoe has always exceeded my expectations, however I purchased a black pair from a department store in November of 2005, and a portion of the lower stitching came loose on the front toe of the shoe and required my purchase of a new pair from Zappos. Again thank you for the opportunity to express my very positive opinion of the Mephisto shoes and my declaration that I will continue to wear them.

Standing all day I started to get shooting pains down my right leg. My shoulders were stiff. Back aches had reached their limits of toleration. There was something that needed to be done. I was on my way to buy insoles for my shoes when I walked across a friend, and I told him of my aches and pains. He told me to try Mephisto shoes. I went home that night and ordered the Mephisto Capvert shoes. I called Zappos first, but they did not have anything smaller than an 8. I wear a 7 1/2, but I would recommend ordering a 1/2 size smaller because of the fact that they are slip ons. When I received my Capverts the heels would pop out slightly. I was in a big rush to relieve the pain so the thought of sending them back for a 7 was painful. Wore the shoes for a day, and the sliding in and out was horrible. I shipped them back and got 7s. A perfect fit. It’s been about two months now since I started wearing my Capverts. My leg pains are gone. Stiff shoulder has disappeared. The best advice I had gotten in 2009 was to buy this brand of shoe.

Sized poorly - This shoe felt a whole size bigger than rated both length and somewhat in width. I would go with other premium brands first, except for Allen Edmonds.

Great everyday shoes - This is the second pair of Mephisto loafers I've bought for my husband. He got the first about five years ago, based on recommendations from my brother (who's been wearing more casual Mephistos for ages), under supervision from his mother. When it came time to get a replacement, he asked me if we could find the same ones. These shoes look very nice indeed for a casual loafer (he only gave it a 4 because it wasn't as elegant as a dress shoe) and are very, very comfortable--a big step up from the Topsiders he favors in terms of support (not just style). Yes, they are pricey, but he'll be wearing them for years. The value is there.

Excellent shoe. Size 10 m was perfect on the right but a little loose on the left. Comfortable for office, and I will probably buy a black pair for dressier wear.

Best loafer quality and comfort. Love the comfort and top-quality leather and construction, but order a half-size smaller than you normally would. I'm usually a 9 1/2 D, but the Mephisto 9 M fits perfectly with minimum slippage in the heel and still plenty of room in the toe. I found this sizing to be consistent with the Mephisto Abels, which I also bought.

I'm a pharmacist on my feet 12 hours a day. I've worn Mephisto shoes in the past and have always found them to be a fine shoe. This pair, however, are the most uncomfortable shoe I've worn in quite some time. They look great but they are impossible to wear.

Tough to size - I purchased one size and it was too big. I returned these for a smaller size. One of the second pair fit well and the other was way too small. There does not seem to be much relationship between stated size and actual size. I finally threw the second pair away after a few weeks because Mephisto would not take them back. Buy something else.

Mephisto loafer - I wore this shoe all over Ireland for 2 weeks without a break-in period and it was comfortable. However, I do suffer from plantar fasciitis and used an orthotic in the shoe which was very nicely accommodated by the shoe. All in all it's a great look and a comfortable fit not usually available in shoes which accommodate orthotics.

Excellent shoe, but couldn't find a pair that fit- The first pair was too wide (left foot only) even though I'm normally a medium width, so I called Zappos and they sent me another pair (without charging my credit card!) that were a half-size smaller. Sadly, they didn't fit either. The shoes felt and looked great, and Zappos service was unbelievably wonderful, but I still don't have the shoes I wanted.

Cap Vert comfortable from first day- Stunningly good service from Zapppos.com in delivering two pairs of Cap Verts (black and hazelnut). The Mephisto’s are solidly stitched from very soft leathers. Comfortable to wear at work while standing most of the day. A little more arch support would be nice. Timberland Waterborne is similar for half the dollars... has better arch support but doesn't feel as luxuriously cushy as the Cap Vert.

As good as they look. I normally wear a 15 shoe,however the size 13 in this shoe fit perfect, as a matter of fact I bought the same shoe is a brown. Love the feel.. and the look... Thanks. Walter Lee

Mephisto Cap, very comfortable - These shoes arrived quickly and turned out to be as comfortable as any custom-fitted footware I've ever worn. They feel like bedroom slippers. I have ordered from Zappos previously and always have been completely satisfied. My recent order also included other shoes. The Allen Edmonds loafers were perfect as well.

Top notch penny loafer with boat shoe soles! These are boat shoe (razor cut) sole and water-resistant leather, so can take abuse - yet look like a casual penny loafer, so they can be worn lots of places. They fit snug but not tight, with my 12 medium-wide foot, and feel very comfy.

The Cap Vert by Mephisto is an excellent shoe. I've never put on a more comfortable pair of shoes. As dress shoes (as I sometimes use them), they might look a little informal but they're so comfortable, I'll gladly make that minor concession.

Cap Vert - Most comfortable shoes I have worn. Fit perfectly out of the box.

Best shoes I've ever worn. These shoes are so comfortable that I can walk for hours, something I never would do before. Just ask my wife.

Estatic. Made My Trip to France Most Pleasurable - For 2 years, I've bought and tried many shoes for comfort, as I have neuropathy and my feet are extremly sensitive. I could never wear any shoe for more than 2 hours without pain and had to take them off for relief. Two days ago, I returned from a 10 day trip to France. I had been very concerned about how much my feet would take walking. I had just bought a pair of Mephisto Cap Vert and took them on the trip. Ended up to be the only shoe I wore. I was amazed. I spent 12-15 hours a day walking up to 2-3 miles a day and never felt the need to take my Mephisto's off. Extremely comfortable. I found a Mephisto store in Paris (not realizing they were manufactured in France) and bought another pair. Made a believer out of me. I'm one happy camper and will vouch for Mephisto any time. Feel free to contact me. I would be a spokesman for Mephisto anyday.

Great fit and feel. Styling lacks a little but I bought these for all day comfort which it excels at.

Mephisto Cap Vert - Hazelnut color - A classic penny loafer style shoe that fits and feels great from the first time you wear it.

Mephisto Cap Vert - Very attractive, comfortable and durable shoe but feels slightly larger than the cordovan color version I bought in a retail store. Zappos.com gave great service. I esp. appreciated the prompt delivery.

I have been buying this shoe for years and this was my 12th pair. I have never worn as comfortable a shoe, certainly not one as stylish.

My wife bought a pair of these shoes for me years ago. Used them while traveling in Europe. Liked them so much I've replaced them many times. They wear like iron. They are extremely comfortable.
