Multi Match -
This is my fifth pair of Mephisto Match. They are the most comfortable and versatile shoes in my wardrobe. A bit homely, but well worth the syle deficit.

Match still not qutie fitting right, but Zappos is great!
I have had 2 pair of Mephistos before, and love both - put them on and never need any breaking in. The Match is not quite the same for me. Some soreness in the arches, but I think that will go away in time; Still, I'm dissappointed that this has happened with any Mephisto shoe. Zappos was GREAT. Exchanged for a different size, and they exchanged and shipped immediately, arriving before schedule! Would definitely recommend Zappos to everyone!

Better than Boots -
For years, I only wore boots, but after my feet begin to hurt, I went to "Clark Walkers". While purchasing a new pair of Clark Walkers in New York City(I live in Texas) three years ago, the clerk showed me the Mephistos. Great fit, comfortable and stays together somewhat better than Clarks. The Mephisto is fine for office or recreation.

Mephisto Match -
Well-made and fairly comfortable shoe but size runs small, especially width. Unknown how they'll hold up as I've only tried them indoors a couple of times.
Selection and service from "Zappos" is the best there is!!

Kill the LOGO's...
This is an excellent shoe. Solid, comfortable, and reasonably light. I had a pair of Ecco's previously, which were light and very easy to walk in, but they never felt solid and they leaked..
However, the Mephisto does make you wear their logo. This is out of place on a $300 shoe. If you're into showing-off, perhaps you'll be happy. But... Reflect that those who really know, don't need the logo to tell.. And those who don't know aren't worth impressing...
Mephisto... Lose the LOGO!

My 5th or 6th Pair -
I always order white, though they disfigure easily & show scuff marks and scratches. But, by dabbing, not using circles, white polish plus buffing, they look nearly as good as new.
My latest pair came through with the tongue on the left shoe misaligned to about 11:00, so I first have to move it to the right before putting on the shoe. Aggravating, but not enough to pkg & return the shoes.
I'd also recommend:
Only buy white.

Mephisto Match -
Thanks to Zappos for the platform to share personal preferences about shoes. If it were rated for quality alone, this shoe would be superlative with few to "Match." Leather, eyelets, even the shoe strings are simply the best of materials. But, like another reviewer, I found the shoe length long; the width overcompensated for my rather narrow foot, the shoe weight excessive and anything but ergo-dynamic. Perhaps suitable for long touring walks, but not for my rather quick-footed gait.
An excellent choice for me has been the Ecco Cross.

Terrific looks, so-so comfort -
This shoe has nice looks if you like a rustic style, but it's over hyped. Too long, too wide. The real catoutchouc (fancy Mephisto name for their PU sole) layer is barley 1/8" thick, so the sole wears out fast. After the PU layer is gone, the rest of the sole is soft rubber that evaporates fast. Needlessly heavy. There are some people that like Mephisto, and will go to any end to justify how wonderful this shoe is, but objectively speaking, it's a mediocre shoe overall. Try Ecco or Born casual shoes, then you will know the difference.

Mephisto Match Walking Shoe -
A relatively comfortable shoe, but the upper edge of the back, the part that surrounds the ankle, is a bit too rigid; the rigidness cuts into the ankle somewhat.

Not a match -
I bought this shoe as a birthday gift for my boyfriend, who is on his feet 12 hours a day as an automotive technician. His feet are narrow with high arches. He felt the shoes needed a couple weeks to break in, he wears them but doesn't seem thrilled. I have bought these shoes for other people who just loved them. Zappos service and selection is the best!

Didn't work out for me.
I'm not a big hiker, and had no particular foot or knee problems; I bought Mephistos for the looks (and they were a good "weight" for a fall shoe, which I needed). I wear a women's 5, and the smallest they had was a 6, but they seemed to fit well. They were comfortable to wear, but I soon noticed frequent cramps in my toes after wearing them several days in a row. That problem seemed to get somewhat better after a few months, but then I started having pain and clicking in my knees. Didn't see any connection for a couple years -- I'm in my 40s, so I figured it was just age catching up with me. But this spring, while wearing the Mephistos every day for weeks, the pain in my knees got so bad I had to hang onto railings for dear life going up and down stairs. The toe cramps returned too. When the weather got warm, I switched to other shoes. After that, the foot and knee problems got so much better, so fast, I now feel sure that my beautiful shoes were to blame.
I know many people love 'em, and some say they help with foot/knee problems; I don't doubt it. But I suspect there's a subset -- maybe a small one -- of people for whom Mephistos make things worse, and I'm afraid I'm one of those.

Match order review -
I think Mephisto makes great shoes, though they are very difficult to find. And, once I decided on these, I could not order the narrow shoe that I'd hoped for. Th e wide base is a little big and takes away from the look and comfort. I still enjoy them and will get used to things.

Not worth the money...
I can't imagine why anyone would spend such a huge amount of cash for such uncomfortable shoes. The leather was stiff and the width at the arch too narrow (typical of European and Asian shoes in my oinion). Perhaps if Mephisto offered them in Wide they would be comfortable, but still not worth the money. I have a pair of $60 Hush Puppies more comfortable to walk/work in than these.

Very Comfy But.....
These are great shoes, but there is one downside to them. The problem with them is that the sole has a frame with a thin rubber outer cover which after a couple of weeks of wearing wears off and you are left with no heel.

Good but over hyped -
For all its hype and the big price tag, and despite the excellence of its overall construction, this shoe has some big flaws. Unlike other Mephisto shoes like the Marlon or Melchior that have a thick layer of their material, the Match and Runoff shoes have a very thin layer, just about 1/8" thick. Between this thin layer and the welt of shoe, the material is softer cushioning stuff, so after the thin outer layer wears out, it's over - you will run through the cushion material very quickly, so you would need to get the shoe resoled. Also, the shoe is needlessly heavy - the Ecco Track boots are much lighter and easier on the feet. The shoe is too wide for a USA "medium" size, so even with thick socks, it feels like I'm wearing a couple of footballs around my feet, rather than form-fitting shoes that wrap around my feet nicely. As a result, I need to tie the laces uncomfortably tightly for the shoes to stay put. Although not stiff, the shoe is heavily padded and lined, so it has thick walls. The standard cotton laces it comes with are too thin, so you're better off replacing them with heavier laces. Excellent arch support and superb quality of construction, but some big drawbacks. Almost there, but not quite.
