This sandal has been my favorite for all occasions for many years. For some reason the new manufacturing has really ruined them for me. The toe leather is spaced wrong so I could not even get my foot into the sandal without moving it and then it cut into my toe and the top of my foot. So I suppose if you have a very skinny big toe and very narrow feet this might work but for me it is unfortunately a long standing “comfortable right out of the box, order every year”that has been made absolutely terrible by changing the way they are made. Bummer

These run VERY small and VERY narrow. Only B width available which is way too narrow. I normally wear a size 42/43 EU but this one didn’t even cover my heel…

I have had six pairs of Helena's over the years. After ordering and returning several colors I just bought the Light Sand Havana. The color was beautiful but I wore them today for the first time and as the straps started to soften several discolored bands started to form on the right shoe. Upon closer look it appears that as the strap streched as I walked the metallic paint, or whatever they used for color, started to fall off. They are too expensive to have them disclolor on day one I am sending them back. I wil have to find a color where this will not happen.

Far too narrow for my feet, which are wide but I rarely order W width on sandals. I read all reviews to see what buyers said about width, and while many said they had wide feet, they can't possibly actually have a wider foot or it would never fit on this narrow foot bed. I wish Mephisto would return to making the Helen style in a W option.

Honestly, I am very disappointed with the material used on the sole of this pair of sandals. I have been buying a pair a year forever, but this year they changed the bottom of the shoe. It is a very hard plastic-like material that is loud when walking and there is absolutely no give in the shoe. I wish they would go back to the original sole. For the price I paid I really expect more from Mephisto.

The leather is very stiff and within 10 minutes of wearing them I had cuts on my toes.

These were way too narrow for my foot. I was disappointed. I wear Birkenstock’s and wanted something with more cushion. Had to send back.

My big toe is too large to fit into the slot. If the leather were softer or the loop was a bit wider I would have kept these in a minute. They seem so comfortable, but not for people like me who may have larger digits! : )

Runs small. Not attractive.

I was very disappointed in this sandal! I ordered a US 13 and this is no way equivalent to a US 13. This is at least a full size smaller.

The size is way, way off on these. A Eur43 isn’t a US13. It’s not even a US11. Maybe a US10.5.

These arrived with a broken buckle. C’mon, Zappos. I have many pairs and ordinarily love them.

Footbed stiff and uncomfortable. Arch support was good. Leather between the toes was hard and it was painful to walk in.

These are the second pair of Mephisto Helen I've ordered and now returned to Zappo's. The leather on this sandal is so stiff that I can not imagine even trying to walk in them after attempting to put them on WITHOUT THE PAIN they were causing. I have worn Mephistos for years and the 'glove-soft' leather as advertised on the Mephisto website has been the standard I've expected. These are unacceptable and I am not only informing Mephisto but have already purchased directly from them. Thank you for your time and energy.

Fit and size were fine. The leather was unbearable. Other Mephisto Helen sandals I've ordered and worn in the past have been like glove leather from the very moment I put them on. These were so stiff and thick that I felt as though my feet were in danger of being cut or blistered just from putting them on. I've ordered another from Zappo's. If they are also of the same poor quality I will contact Mephisto and order directly from them.

Incredible disappointment! Leather does not feel like 'glove leather' as Mephisto describes. More like iron foundry cowhide mitt. Which felt as though I was putting my tender foot into an iron shoe. (Also the buckle seems misplaced) I've had three pairs of the same sandal and have never had to break them in or return them. I will try Zappo's one more time and if they don't have my size or if the quality is as terrible I will only purchase Mephistos from Mephisto directly.

Mephisto Helen are beautiful on feet. the foot bed is very comfortable, but the straps are so hard! I wore them around the house to see if the leather would soften but the straps would eventually break my skin if I wore them outside. Disappointing! Have to return them.

The bed of the sandal was soft and comfortable but I don't think it would be comfortable for walking much. The top of the shoe felt very sharp and uncomfortable. I was worried about the toe part but that was ok, it was all of the rest of the top that was terrible. I returned them. Wish they were better because they were cute.

I looked at all the feedback prior to ordering these because they are super cute and I was very hopeful. I have a super high arch and they would probably work but the width and size were all wrong.

So excited to finally receive my order. But. The Mephisto Helen came with foot print of already worn persons foot . This pair shoes were not new. must have been a return... bummer. no time to return. leaving country in 2 days. Disappointing. The other shoe ordered came in just fine.

Agh! Worst shoe ever! I wanted so badly to like these. I thought they'd be my go to shoes for the summer. They weren't comfy out of the box but everyone said to give them time. Well, times up, and they are NOT comfortable, and they never will be - and now I've worn them, so I can't return them. And, they are so hot - from the bottom (I'm sure that's why other reviews say they smell)! Newsflash - no one wants hot shoes in the summer. These shoes are uncomfortable, impractical and just plain not a good buy. Don't do it! I can't believe I paid so much for such terrible shoes! And - they suck to travel with. They are so uncomfortable that I bought a $2 pair of flip flops - which were way more comfortable. This is without a doubt, the worst purchase I've ever made from Zappos!

I ordered the Platinum Venise in 37 per recommendations. I usually take a 6.5 or 7. They were at least 1/2 size too small. The leather was so sharp that it would have cut into my toes and left me bleeding. It was uncomfortable even walking a few steps in them. I could tell these were returned because of toe marks and some dirt on the bottom. Also while the arch support is good, the outer portion of the foot and heel come up in a way that doesn't allow my foot to sit level with the ground. It forces the outer foot up. I don't know if I got a defective pair but I truly don't understand how anything is comfortable about these from the sharp leather edges (maybe just in the metallic ones I bought) and planking footbed.

The shoe was painful! Never wore a shoe so uncomfortable ,stiff,no support. It was very cute & color was pretty. This brand not made for me.
