The leather upper is very scratchy. I don't want to have to put bandaids on to wear them, so sadly I am returning them.

These were not like the first pair I bought. I got an instant blister by my big toe. Could be a fluke, but I dont want to take a chance.

This order was for my 3rd pair of Mephisto sandals. I fell in love with this brand several years ago. They fit my feet so much better than Birkenstocks. I have the Helen and the Nalia which I love. But.....this last pair of Helen's is very uncomfortable. The leather was so stiff, I had a blister on top of my toe within the first half hour of wearing them. Unfortunately I will be returning as I did not have to "break them in" the other two pair.

These were comfortable and stylish, but became very worn looking within a few months. The straps roughened, edges frayed and footbed became hard to clean within about 6 weeks. Could only get one summer’s wear - they looked so shabby after a few months despite regular cleaning and protectant., that I tossed them. This seems unique to Mephisto, have never had this issue with Birkenstock sandals in a similar style.

Too narrow. I have had the same shoe in the past and it was the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I ordered the same size as last time but the new shoe was too narrow and my feet have not changed.

Won't be ordering Mephisto again. I ordered a size up, but didn't realize I had to go a width size larger as well. Really?! Come on. Second time I have to return.

I’m disappointed in this shoe. I wish I had returned then but I thought I could make them work. I probably shouldn’t compare them to Birkenstock but I am. I used to buy Mephisto and Birkenstock exclusively. I haven’t bought a Mephisto sandal in 3 years. I now had to buy a size larger than what I had purchased in the past. Why is that ? I still wear the same size in Birkenstock and my Helena sandals from 3 years ago are labeled a size smaller than what I had to order. Weird because they’re the same length. Here are the problems with this sandal. No raised toe bar on the sandal. My left foot started cramping because I was trying to hang onto the sandal. They are very cushioned, like a tennis shoe, and they are very heavy. The sandals also do not have deep heel cups that hug your feet. The sandals are very flat and very wide. I had to tighten the sandals to the smallest position when I tried them on. They’re heavy, clunky and very wide. I won’t be buying Mephisto in the future.

The upper straps were very thin, stiff and they were sharp on the edges which made them dig into my foot!

I have been wearing Mephisto’s Helen for many years—it’s been my go-to sandal in all colors. Recently, however, Mephisto changed the quality of their leather and it leaves blisters wherever it rubs. I am so upset!! I’ve tried all colors and types but it’s still the same cheap leather. I guess it’s bye bye Mephisto.

I was looking for sandals that I could wear while dealing with plantar fasciitis. I ordered size 11 based on Zappos recommendation. I usually wear a size 10 1/2. My toes hung off the side edge of the size 11; same with size 12. I ultimately went with size 13. I also have a very narrow foot. For this reason, I needed to tighten the strap with the buckle to almost the last hole. This made the strap very rigid across the top of my foot and was actually painful. As for support, I did not experience the same support other reviewers reported. My feet were never as sore as the two days that I wore these shoes.

These weren’t really too small but Zappos doesn’t give enough options like “uncomfortable.” I used to wear these Mephistos all the time. they were wonderful, soft leather, and I even wore them into the Dead Sea and they survived with flaming colors! these however, we’re like a cheap brand trying to be Mephistos. they were so hard!! very uncomfortable leather. NOT SOFT, NOT PLIABLE. I couldn’t wait to get them off my feet. Extremely disappointing!

I wear a 6 1/2 medium and the 36 was perfect length. They seem to be a bit narrower than Birkenstocks, but adequate. They were well made, however, the style did not hug my feet as well as birks do. I had to make an effort to keep them from sliding back when I walked and I felt like the heel was a bit higher than birks as well. Overall I didnt care for the style and had to send them back. Sorry, Zappos. Appreciate your easy return policy!

I really liked the support, but the hole for the big toe just didn't work for me. I wanted to love them, but had to return.

I love the look of this sandal. It runs long. I feel if I order a size smaller, it will then be too narrow. Returning and on the hunt for one that fits with a good look and support.

I absolutely loved the way these look on my feet but they were VERY uncomfortable. The top must not be leather and immediately sort of cuts into your foot and never softens up. I wanted to keep them for the look but couldn't see keeping an uncomfortable shoe that costs this much. It's the grey twist that I'm referring to. I got another color previously and that one is very comfortable. But NOT the GREY TWIST.

Did not like the feel of the leather or of the toe piece. Just not right for me. Cute though

The sandals are comfortable for my foot but the leather upper part is too stiff and hurts my toes something awful. I am sorry to have to return them.

The leather upper was stiff and uncomfortable on my feet, possibly related to the way it was processed to make the embossed design. I own a plain leather version of this sandal, and the uppers on these new ones are significantly thicker, so that may be part of it too. I am not sure these will become more supple with age, so regretfully am returning them.

I’ve worn this style this 2002. Not sure when I last bought but it’s been a few years and this new one felt terrible. Too narrow, too short, and straps dig in uncomfortably. Very disappointed because it’d been a great sandal for decades. Returned.

I've worn and loved Mephisto Helen sandal since 2002. This new model felt incredibly uncomfortable - the straps cutting into my skin. Footbed felt more narrow as well. Returning and trying a Nubuck version, altho wish there was still a Camel Nubuck. I've depended on this sandal for so long, worried it may no longer be my solution.

I have been wearing this same shoe for several years but this pair feels smaller and the strap on the left shoe is somewhat different at the buckle. Sending them back but will replace with another pair. Love Mephisto Helen sandals.

I have a pair of Helen sandals from last year, size 38, love them! This latest pair of size 38 sandals were about 1/4 inch shorter. So, I ordered the 39, too big, awkward fit and stiff. Had to return them.

This sandals are comfortable but they do not last. I purchased a pair in April and the cork is cracked by the toe area. Also, the sole wear out quickly. I mainly used them on the weekend since I work.

have 6 pAIR OF HELEN MEPHISTO SANDALS,,,,these hurt my big toe and bunion. Am going to have to return them.
