I took the advice of many other reviewers by ordering a size down. I normally wear a size 6.5, but I ordered a 36 (labeled as US 5-5.5) and it fits perfectly. Other than that - this is a very comfortable summer shoe that's great for when you want to stay cool but walk a lot. It doesn't do wonders for fashion or your legs, but hey.

Give them a chance! When I first put them on, I thought they were the most uncomfortable sandals I'd ever owned. It felt like walking on golf balls, and the toe strap hurt. I planned on sending them back, but decided to wear them in the house for a while. I'd been having such problems with my knees and feet, I could hardly walk. Within a few hours, I realized the golf balls were less noticeable and my knees felt better. I kept wearing them, and now can't live without them! They seem to have realigned my feet and knees. The silver is really cute...much more feminine than the big, dark, clunky Birks. Now I have to find a cute winter Birk! Just give them a chance...you'll be glad you did!

If you know anything about Birkenstock, you know exactly what to expect: rock-hard out of the box, but within a few wears perfect for your foot. I love Gizeh and have it in several colors. The color is my only complaint. The platinum has greenish tint to it. I liked the silver much better.

Never had much regard for Birkenstock in terms of style, but when I saw the new sandals line I changed my mind. I couldn't find a retail locations in SF but (of course) Zappos.com offered a wide selection of styles and colors. I guessed at size and guessed right, but had I been wrong Zappos.com provides free shipping both ways, orders and returns. I count on Zappos.com as my primary shoe store. Zappos.com is a terrific source: totally customer-focused, a clean, simple interface, and a pleasure.

Love these Birkenstocks! So stylish - I'm receiving compliments from people who would normally hate Birks. The footbed, as always, is so comfortable. I do see what other reviewers are saying about the thong itself. Perhaps if it had been made out of something softer or more flexible? The fact that it's so rigid makes it slightly uncomfortable. Overall I'm very happy though.

I really wanted to invest in some nice sandals that could give me some support and weren't flip flops. I was worried these wouldn't be very supportive without a back strap but they definitely are.The adjustable top strap really helps. Because they are European sizes I was unsure of what to go with. I am a size 7.5 or 8. I ordered a I 39 to start and then returned them for a 38. I have a wide foot and the 39 was better width-wise but it was way too long. The 38 works great. They take some breaking in and I got a few blisters in the beginning. Now I wear them all the time and walk for long periods or distances without concern.

Very comfortable! My brother had a pair of Birkie's so I decided to get some. I'm traveling to a different country, and during the heat these shoes will be great for walking all day! I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

I had not tried Birkenstocks before, but figured I would like them since I love Danskos' hard insole/arch support. Unfortunately I could not find the right fit; I have short, wide feet and while the width on these was great I was left with a lot of extra foot bed both in front of my toes and behind my heel. Also, the toe post is a hard-ish plastic and was really uncomfortable; maybe with time it would have broken in? Too bad, I loved the style and colors.

Really comfortable shoe - I was a little ambivalent about buying Birkenstocks, but these are great. I just got them today and have been wearing them all day. They just started hurting my arch, but I think I'll get used to it. The golden brown color is really nice and shimmery. They are kind of bulky, but worth it for how comfortable they are. I am usually a 7 1/2, sometimes an 8 and I got the 38 with a regular width and it fits perfectly.

Not extremely comfortable - They are very cute, but not very comfortable.

Great arch support! I have terrible arches and can't wear regular flip-flops or sandals. These are my first Birkenstocks and I like that they are comfortable and cute. They do run a size large, but Zappos had great service and sent me a smaller size within two days of my call.

Overall a good sandal - I've had a pair of these for years, but hardly wore them because the thong rubbed my toe so badly. I took them to my shoe repair guy, who put a piece of soft leather around the thong. Now they're quite comfortable and I'm ordering another pair.

Very cute but take some getting used to. I'm still getting used to the piece between the toes, but I don't wear flip-flops, so I wasn't very accustomed to that style of sandal. I love how they look though.

Birkenstock’s with "Style" I wanted Birkenstock's legendary comfort but couldn't get past the dowdy style until I saw a friend wearing the Gizeh sandals. I bought them in a groovy paisley floral and get tons of compliments.

Cute, but hard to break in - I haven't worn these shoes enough to know if they're going to break in well, but after a couple of days of wear, my (admittedly very, very sensitive feet) are extremely sore on the soles -- so sore that it hurts to stand barefoot. They're really cute, so I hope they work out.

The hard plastic strap between my toes was awful. I think they are cute and wish that wasn’t so uncomfortable. Maybe this part would break in after a while, but I’m not willing to go through the pain.

They felt less comfortable than I had hoped and they ran too large.

This is a nice style and comfortable once broken in, but buyer beware: 'Birkenstocks last forever' is a thing of the past, and I am currently shopping for my third pair of these since 2020. Quality is not at all what it once was. With regular use (these are my main summer shoes) the footbed degrades over time and cracks develop on the sides, as pictured in another review. I enjoy them while they last but know that it won't be more than a year or two.

Fit and size is perfect but for some reason are not so comfortable. I have another two pairs of Birkenstock plus 4 pairs of the Eva and did not have any issues. But this one are too hard and after walking like 1/2 an hour I feel the feet’s hot, tired and with blister. I thought after break-in they will be more comfortable, but still to hard. Very disappointed because I love Birkenstock.

I really wanted to love these shoes. They look great. The onyx color is a deep blue/black with a very slight metallic sheen. Very pretty. But the piece that goes between the toes just hurts every time I walk. Standing in place it's fine but as soon as I walk my foot moves forward just slightly and ouch. Unfortunately I will be returning.

love Birkenstocks, but these were too shiny for me!

I love these but I have worn Birkenstock sandals for 25 years and have never encountered any so narrow. The edges of my feet hit the hard edges of the sandal. This is not going to work. I am so sad to send them back.

Onyx has a more blue tone than I was expecting. Otherwise great shoe but if you have super wide feet you may find the edge of the shoe doesn't work for you.

i was so excited to get these, but the raised bed around the big toe and 2nd toe that holds the thong in place was so terribly uncomfortable. i tried wearing them a few times thinking my toes would get used to it since i've sucessfully worn thong sandals in the past with no discomfort. sadly, i was wrong...they had to go back. for those who can wear these...i salute you!
