My first pair of Birkenstocks at age 52. Okay, I guess my age qualifies me for the hippy generation, although I think of myself as more of a city girl than a hippy girl. But with all the rave reviews I decided to try these. I wanted a soft gold metallic sandal with most importantly 'comfort' and support for pounding the summer city streets. At first they felt good and supportive around the house. So took them outside for a stroll; trouble is after 5 blocks they started rubbing blisters on the bottom of my feet. The suede foot bed creates too much friction for a long walk in the summer heat. They're okay for a short stroll to the beach, but will not be a stalwart companion for the summer city streets.

I agree with other reviewers that the toe thong takes some breaking in. I had to wear these only a bit each day for about a week. However, the patience is worth it! These sandals are incredibly comfortable and supportive. I also find them stylish enough to wear to work (I\'m a college professor) with a skirt. This was a great purchase!

I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this shoe! I was going to get the leather version of this sandal, thinking it might be more comfortable, but a friend convinced me that the Birko-Flor version is great and she\'s right. They\'re also more affordable than the leather version. They\'re the most comfortable shoe I own (I can wear them all day and my feet feel great) and the golden-brown color is so versatile that it coordinates with almost everything. I get compliments on them all the time.

These shoes are great! As others have stated, there is a brief break in period, but once that is over you will love these sandals. I wear them with pants and skirts, and yes, I wear them to work. I have a wide foot and I also have tendon problems; I can walk miles with no problem and I really love the thong on these, it's super comfortable. One last thing, I usually wear a 10.5 to 11 W - going down one size worked perfectly. I will be buying more Birks!

I have been a Birkenstock fan for many years. They are the most comfortable shoes on the planet. I own about 8 different styles, and wear them winter and summer. I especially like this style (Gizeh). They are a bit fancier than other styles. I'm a teacher, on my feet all day, and I noticed a huge difference in how I felt at the end of the day after I discovered Birkenstocks. If you're buying your first pair, they will seem stiff to you, and not as comfortable as you were expecting, but be patient, Birks need to break in gradually. Wear them for a couple hours each day at first – the reward will be worth it. Zappos is a great place to buy shoes and they always have exactly what I need for my short, wide foot, and the prices are excellent.

Zappos was great. I ordered a couple pairs of shoes to try on and sent the ones that I didn\'t like back. No problem at all. The Birkenstok Gizeh Birko-Flor are nice. Very stiff but that is normal. Follow their shoe sizing recommendations.

The Gizeh Birko-Flor are my favorite shoes this summer. I struggle to wear anything but, and that is tricky being that they are red. I might just have to get another color.

Every time I purchase shoes from Zappos, my expectations are exceeded. The free shipping is great, and they always arrive at my door the day after I purchase them. The customer service representatives are very helpful, if Zappos doesn't have it they will search for the product on other websites for you. I could not ask for a better online shopping experience! On top of the great service, the shoes are excellent.

The patent leather is so attractive - they really don\'t look like Birkenstocks when you\'re wearing them. They look much more expensive than the price. My feet are extremely wide, I have no arch, and my heels always hurt - but these shoes are super comfortable and a great value. I also purchased the Mayari - and the Gizeh look more sophisticated. Both are comfortable though.

Love these shoes! I was a little afraid about the toe strap, but not to worry, they were comfortable right out of the box and getting more comfy everyday! Birkenstocks have seemingly cured my plantar fasciitis in my right foot! They are cute, too! I highly recommend these!

The shoes I purchased were beautiful and very comfortable. Though I normally wear size 8-8.5 but when I revived those they were too long on my foot. I exchanged the first pair for a 7-7.5 and they fit perfect! Both pairs were of regular width. Zappos did a tremendous job on my exchange even though I did not still have the box.

This shoe is so stylish. We just came back from Rome, Venezia, Firenze and Paris. We saw this shoe (and variations of it) everywhere and in all colors. Two things, first it runs much larger than you would think so we had to try several sizes to get it right. We bought down two sizes. Also, the rubber that goes between the toe is larger than on most sandals. It took a bit to get used. Love the comfort of Birkenstocks, the style alternatives and the Zappos service.

I purchased these in the red patent leather after eyeing them on the Birkenstock site for weeks. Other shoe Web sites, which shall remain nameless, didn't have the color I wanted and no one seemed to have the correct narrow size I needed. Zappos did have the narrow width so I compromised on the color and chose red over the orange. The fit is perfect. I wear a size 9, but have very narrow feet and I needed the ultimate in comfort since I was purchasing these to help with my plantar fascia pain. After about a week of constant wear, they are the most comfortable flat shoe I have. It does take a while to get them to conform to your foot. The width is perfect, also. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. No one can believe that Birkenstock makes such a cute shoe. I may invest in the orange color later.

I am not typical a Birkenstock type of person. That just usually isn't my style, but these shoes as very cute. I got them because my feet were hurting with flat flip flops. I were them every day because they are a great color and go with pretty much anything but black. I am now a Birkenstock lover because they are so comfy.

The first pair of shoes that I ordered were to big Zappos was very helpful in the return process as well as getting me the right size right away. I will do all my shoe shopping here at Zappos.com.

I chose to get the Birko-Flor Gizehs because they were less expensive than the leather Gizehs, and I didn't think I would be sacrificing quality. I got them in the Golden Brown and was thrilled with the color and quality. So pretty! My foot is all over the place, ranging from an 8-9 and I got an 8 and they fit perfectly. It took me a day to get used to them because they have so much more material surrounding your foot than a normal flip-flop, but I got over that. I purchased them for a trip to Italy and wore them everyday for a week and never had an pain/discomfort. One time I experienced a little bit of redness on the inside of my feet from the strap rubbing, but other than that great. I highly recommend these cute, supportive, quality sandals!

I just got back from Germany, where everyone wore these. I got home, ordered some and am in love! They are comfortable and stylish. I get compliments on them every time I wear them! Only thing, they size a little large, about 1/2 size. Zappos was wonderful about the exchange though. Gotta love the free shipping!

These shoes are extremely comfortable and great quality for your feet to run around in 24/7. May order them in another color in the future.

I wear these shoes every day, for work and play. I did buy a size smaller than expected - I wear an 8, and I bought the European size recommended for 7-7 1/2. They work well on my feet, giving plenty of breathing room for my bunions!

These are my first pair of Birkenstocks and they are fantastic. The color is incredibly neutral and I love the design of these thongs. I love how the big toe cleavage is covered! I purchased them for walking, errands, and general everyday things. They are becoming my go to summer shoe. The only drawback is the Birko-Flor gets a little sweaty against my skin in high heat and during a bike ride. I assumed that leather would not do this.

The first time I wore these shoes, I developed a blister from the toe bar. Now that I am used to them (and have developed a callous) they are really comfortable and I wear them all of the time.

I have never worn Birkenstocks before but these shoes were too cute to pass up. I ordered a size 40 for my size 9/9.5 foot and they fit perfectly! Took a bit of getting used to the support Birkenstocks offer but I can feel the difference in my posture when wearing these. They are great! I am finicky about thong sandals and these don\\\'t bother me at all...even though they are thicker than most of my thongs. I am on here today looking to order more Birkenstocks. And thank you Zappos for supporting the military and shipping to FPO addresses! I ordered my shoes and got them all the way out in Japan in 3 or 4 days.

The need for this review is really unnecessary, as anyone who has ever worn a pair of Birkenstock's will know just how comfortable they are. I've never worn them before this pair, as I hadn't run across a pair that I felt fit my style. However patent red leather is right up my alley. I'm so glad I purchased these. It's hard to put on any other pair of shoes since the day they arrived at my house.
