I got blisters/cuts on both of my feet where the strap touches the front on the foot when wearing these on a trip where we walked several blocks each day. I don't remember that ever happening to me before.

It took two different models, the Gizeh and the Mayari, two different sizes and three pairs of Birkenstock’s shoes to find the right fit. Am a solid 6.5 M USA which according to the chart it’s 37 N EU, well that turned out to be to big, the toe piece hurt a lot the minute I tried them on, i thought it was the model so I ordered the Mayari again in 37, tried them on and there were huge, plus the straps around the big toes were a little uncomfortable. Thankfully the Mayari came in what it seemed the original box and on it was a shoe drawing were one can place the foot and measure it, according to it I was actually a 36N so I ordered the Gizeh again but this time 36N which was perfect on the length and it seemed to be ok on the width, at lest at first. I tried them at different times of the day and as the hours went by and the feet were getting tired and a little swollen I noticed the the edges of my feet didn’t stay inside the shoe and that hurt, no good. So again, I ordered another pair same model but this time in regular( the way Birkenstock calls it or wide the way Zappos calls it) and Bingo!! finally they fit they they should, I walked on them all day, everything felt ok, no pain and my feet stayed inside the edge of the shoe. It is true it take a little to get used to the feel of the shoe specially if one have never worn orthopedic shoes before. Am just glad that Zappos makes it very easy to send and return its merchandise, because they sent me four packages and I sent them three on a lees than a week span wheew my UPS guy was probably thinking “ what’s going on with this lady!” anyway at the end I think they’re going to end up being one of my favorite sandals.

They fit great - but it took a minute to adjust to the thong and get my feet in the right place. Once that's done they are super comfortable and I can walk for hours in them without my feet aching. Great purchase and love the color!

Overall great but not the most comfortable. Pretty silver.

Sizing is very difficult on these. I have a size 8.5N and ordered a 38N. They fit but I was worried about my toes hitting the top edge so I tried the 39N. They were so wide I couldn't keep them on my feet! They are also very hard. I hope they soften over time as I've decided to keep the 38N.

I wear a pretty standard size 5.5, but Birkenstocks are a full size and a half larger on my feet than most other shoes. I am an adult and only fit into children's size shoes. A size 34 fits perfectly, but unfortunately the children's size shoes not only are not the same excellent quality of the adult sizes, but additionally don't come in a real leather. The size 35 purports to be a size 4- 4.5, but my feet are still swimming in this size. Returning.

These felt snug in “height” from the sole to the top of the strap. I will be returning them as I don’t like the way the deep strap distance from toes to cross strap makes my feet look wide (I have narrow feet and these make my feet look as wide as snow skis). Can’t speak to long term comfort but they feel good just trying them on.

Nice looking but...the toe piece is hard plastic and I felt like I would not get used to it even though I've worn this style before. Also, the high arch would have been great if it wasn't so hard, more cushion needed. I haven't worn Birkenstocks before, is there a break in period? If so I wasn't willing to wait for the arch to soften or to hopefully get used to the stiff toe separator. Returned.

Ok, I think I found my sweet spot for this shoe brand. Had originally bought the size 38 and my feet just hurt horribly after wearing them one day. After reading all the reviewing and seeing it may take a few days to "break in", I kept trying. I tried for about a month and half and just wasn't getting the relief all the reviews stated. So thanks to Zappos' amazing return policy, I returns these and bought the size 37. Right out the box, I didn't have the pain like I did with the 38. I've only had them a few days, but I'm feeling good about these. I've been struggling with plantar's fasciitis for almost one year. I really am hoping for a miracle along with the other therapies I've been doing to get some relief. And actually they are quite cute, very versatile, and I look forward to taking them to our Europe trip later this month. While in Germany, I might just get another pair :) I guess they do know how to design great things, not just cars! I'm hoping after another month, I can change my 4 star review to a 5 star....

After long consideration and desire for comfort and support I bought pricey Birkenstocks. I love the style and the licorice color. The toe area is a bit tight but should stretch with time. I didn't realize how hard the footbed would be. My foot bottom still feels bruised. I am wearing them everyday to break in and feeling better...but still not 100% onboard. I saw a different style with soft footed. I should have started.there.but I don't like the.slide. Still a nice looking shoe.so fingers crossed!

I used to have a pair of these in narrow, which fit perfectly and lasted for years. I bought the medium width this time, as my preferred color wasn't available in narrow, and I can often get away with a medium shoe. Unfortunately I've returned these - they are far too wide and will only get looser over time.

First time trying Birkenstocks... Width was fine, but toe hit the end of the shoe. I tend to have wide feet, and a larger size would not have worked. Arch support was not good for my feet at all... It actually set my foot at an angle that caused my arch to fall in. Sad... I really wanted a pair of these. They just don't work for my foot.

i loved everything about these shoes, style and comfort.... except for the toe thong. right foot was totally comfortable with it but the left foot was not. and the plastic seemed much harder and fatter on the left shoe than the right shoe. i wore around house for a couple weeks and it wasn't getting better... given the price i didn't want to take chance of it not wearing in so i returned. a bit heartbreaking as they were exactly the kind of summer shoe I was looking for... arch support, foot comfort and style. except for that very hard plastic toe thong. :-(

Did not like the toe part. Fits like any other birk otherwise.

These rubbed the side of my foot and leather and sole stiff. I also bought silver Arizona style which was more comfortable. I returned these

Not crazy about these. The man made upper is very uncomfortable and the were a size to big. If you like the style go down a size and pay the extra money for the leather.

I have four pair of this style. Love them all. However, this pair did the have the same feel. The straps were shorter than I am used to and did not sit right on my foot. I returned them and ordered another pair hoping this was a one time problem.

These shoes are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever put on my feet. I am a size 7. Ordered the 38 as recommended, they were big enough to just look too big every time I looked in the mirror. But I believe the next size down would be too small. Too bad.

Painful! I was unaware of the necessary break in time which can take weeks. Until you break them in apparently they hurt. The arch is like a tennis ball. I don't have the patience to break them in - if I did I'm sure they would be comfortable - or so I've? heard. kinda a bummer.

I wear a 5 1/2 in a sandal. Unfortunately this shoe was too long for me in European sizing/ Unisex sizing.

This shoe is really cute and I see a ton of people wearing them, but it was very uncomfortable for me. It felt very hard. I know there's probably a break in period, but it was painful to wear, so I returned them.

I ended up buying 2 pairs of these. Last year, I bought the black and this year, the golden brown. I don't think Birkenstocks are as comfortable as people make them out to be. I think they are too hard especially at the pressure points. For whatever reason, the black pair I got last year is slightly longer than the brown, and the little hump doesn't fit under my toes. It hits across the middle of my toes. I kept them because everyone kept telling me that it was just a matter of breaking them in and then I would love them. They have never been all that comfortable, but at 100 bucks a pop, I can't afford not to wear them. I do like Birkenstocks because they have good arch support and don't make a lot of noise when I walk like most sandals or flip flops. My boss hates listening to sandals that flop so I need to buy quite shoes. Also, I have weird feet so it's hard to find any shoes that fit properly. Fast forward to this year, I couldn't find any suitable brown sandals, so I ended up ordering the Birkenstocks again. The golden brown fits better than the black so this is a plus. I wish I had ordered the darker brown, though. The golden brown reminds me of, if you'll excuse the crude word, poop. Unfortunately, I didn't make this connection until after I had worn them a few days so it's too late to return them for another color. Last summer's black pair has held up extremely well. Except for the places where my feet have rubbed/discolored the soles, they look almost new.

I am size 8-8.5 and yet I order 38 berks which you say are 7-7.5. This particular pair has a slight irregularity on the right Sandal, the strap is a little warped. Hoping it straightens out with wear.

I have a pair of Gizeh (black leather, size 38) from a couple of years ago, and I wanted to get a silver pair too. I bought these in a 38 and they felt a bit too small. Either my feet have gotten larger, or Birks are making them a little smaller, but I had to return them because my toes were going a bit over the edge of the front of the shoe. Also, for whatever reason I didn't find the style in the silver color as flattering - they kind of cut my legs off at the ankle and make them look more stumpy. However, don't let that stop you! They are still a lovely shoe and very comfortable, as always.

This is my second pair of this model. Ordered the same size for each but the 2nd pair felt a little snugglier. For my next purchase I will probably get a half size above.
