Best shoe purchase to date. I was hesitant at first to venture into the world of putting comfort over style when it comes to shoes...but with these I didn't have to compromise at all. I get compliments on them frequently. They are flattering and work with my business casual wardrobe well. Size 39 fit my 8.5-9 size foot well.

It is always best to be fitted properly as the European sizes are different and the sandals must fit properly. I knew from previous purchases that my size is 38 (8and 1/2 American. I am very happy with my purchase.

I love this shoe! Got it yesterday, and it's really comfortable. I love the fact that the blue has a slight metallic look to it. I have noticed that some have said the toe thing isn't comfortable. I've found that the comfort level is tied to the adjustable buckle. I loosened the left one notch, and it's fine. I loosened the right one a notch and had to move it back because it made it uncomfortable. Love the shoe!

Fantastic sandal! I have plantar fasciitis and slight pronation in my knees. I have always relied on Reefs brand flip flops for my go to summer shoes, but have found the arch support dwindles over time. These are an amazing upgrade, minus the fact that you probably don't want to get them wet. I got these about 3 months ago and have literally been wearing them every day. I have had zero pain in my arches and they are very comfortable to walk in. I wear a 6.5 in Clarks and got a 37 in these and they fit wonderfully. I have and will recommend these shoes to others. I was afraid that they would look a little "old lady" but actually look really great and I get compliments. Worth the price, super comfy, all around great shoe!

I like these shoes now that I have broken them in. I had a real problem with the plastic piece that goes between the toes, I had to finally buy a gel pad made specifically for the piece that goes between the toes. I sent a complaint to Birkenstock but no reply. Taking the shoes to Italy this week and plan to tour Rome and Florence in them.

Normally wear a size 7, but the 7-7.5 were way too big. The 6-6.5 fits well, but I have kind of long toes and they sometimes hit the front lip of the shoe. Great arch support, lightweight, and you don't have to work hard to keep them on your feet when walking.

I have two pairs of in this style, but those are leather. I had hoped the patent would be a good fit, but they were too tight across my instep. As they are patent I know they will not "give" so I am returning them. That is why I gave them a 4 overall score.

Agreed. They do look great on your feet but the leather between the toe makes walking extremely painful. I wrote Birkenstock to ask them how to correct this and never heard back. I have worn Birks for years and this time, I am rethinking my purchase.

I have several pairs but I recently bought the ones with the plastic between the toes and it is unbearable. I cannot even wear them because I did not realize how painful they were until I wore them outside and walked a block. I threw that money away. I absolutely love their other sandals! These are the best things on the market. My podiatrist told me, if I m not in my orthotics, I should be in Birkenstocks.

I love these shoes! I'm a new mom and constantly on my feet and was looking for a good supportive shoe to wear around the house, first and foremost. This is it - and they're so cute I'm excited to wear them all summer - maybe even outside the house! I'm usually an 8.5-9 so I ordered the 40 but they ended up being too big. I then ordered the 39 and they fit perfectly.

I love these shoes! It does take my toes awhile to adjust to the thing between my toes (does that thing have a name?), but once they do these are my go-to summer sandals. They look great with skinny jeans, trousers, and skirts. I get many compliments on them every time I wear them. And my new pedi is shown off nicely.

After trying and rejecting many other sandals from other brands I went back to good old Birkenstocks. I appreciate the new designs and colors. The sole of this sandal will conform to your feet after wearing it for several days, making the footbed perfect for your feet. The middle strap was never an issue and was comfortable from day one.

I have flat feet and wear custom orthotics, so buying sandals is a struggle. I thought I lucked out with Birkenstocks, but the truth is, the different arch support messed with my alignment and ended up giving me a lot of knee pain. Such a shame, because the silver color is really cute and the shape is mostly flattering. Also, I am a 5.5 but ordered a 35 after reading reviews. That was the right choice. But back they go.

I've recently bought a pair of Birks, due to them being the cool thing now in school, and I love them! They do strain your feet if not the correct size, but they easily slip on, slip off! You can wear anything with these shoes, so I highly recommend them.

I've finally decided to start investing in good casual shoes. These felt great on my feet. The piece between the toes was leather and comfortable, not hard plastic like some of the reviews I read. I recently had my feet sized, and my feet are a size 6, but my arch length is a size 7. In an athletic shoe I almost always wear a size 7, but in sandals I usually go with a 6 1/2. I ordered these in a size 37 and they were too long for me. Even in a smaller size, I do not think my feet would have looked good in these as I have shortish toes, and the leather between the toes was long and extended out, covering most of my big toe. To be clear, I'm reviewing the Birkenstock Gizeh Birko-Floor sandal in Licorice. I've found sometimes reviews don't seem to match the shoe I'm looking at! I really wanted to love these, but they did not work for me. I may try a different style in a smaller size.

Well, I've always wanted a pair of these for support and comfort. I ordered the 5-5.5 size, as I wear a size 5 or 5.5 in sandals. They were too big length-wise. They also are uncomfortable around the toe-grip. Note also that this blue is rather shiny, almost metallic, similar to car paint!

I love my Birks! They do run about a size larger and you want to make sure to get the right size because of the toe support molding in the front of the shoe. I bought my first pair last spring and wore them every day for the entire summer and they still look like new. Bought two more pair this spring.

I wish I would have bought these awesome Gizehs when I first wanted them years ago. The only problem with them is that they are the only shoes I want to wear now! I typically wear a 7.5/8 and the 38s fit me perfectly. The titanium color is versatile (gotta love a metallic!) and stylish. Lots of arch support, too. There is of course that pesky “breaking in” period, but it only took a few days before they started to mold to my foot. A month in and they’re only getting better. I highly recommend these shoes!

I have had plantar fasciitis for 9 years. These are the shoes/sandals I wear when I come home. They have the perfect arch support and heel support for troubled aching feet. They also come in narrow which I need. They are the only sandal I can wear.

I just bought the Gizeh in the antique lace color. It's absolutely the cutest shoe but the most uncomfortable shoe my foot has EVER stepped into. I'm counting on what everyone says, that it will soften and mold to my foot. To describe the level of discomfort is not something I can find words for. It is as stiff as a board, and the arch is not quite place at my arches (which are quite high so I was sure the birks would be awesome for me). The arch in these birkenstocks is somewhere further up heading towards the ball of my foot and slightly centered, rather than where my natural high arch is. If I had to wear these for more than 5 minutes I would be in a lot of discomfort. I truly hope that these soften as promised, or I will have a bone to pick with Zappos. The only way I can find out if they soften and mold to my foot is to wear them a lot, but by wearing them I cannot return them. So Zappos, if you're reading this, please consider that I would like to return these if they do not soften and mold to my foot after considerable wear. I would've gotten them at Nordstrom, where they would accept a used return under those circumstances, but Nordstrom did not have this color available, hence...I bought them from Zappos. They're too expensive to be this uncomfortable. As far as sizing goes, I wear a size 6.5 to 7, so I got the European size 36, which is the correct fit for me.

Size guide for small(er) feet: I am a true 6½ and I took the advice of another fellow 6/6½ Birkenstock wearer and ordered this style and the Boston style in size 36. They fit absolutely perfectly. I tried on the 37 at Nordstrom and they were too big. Not a little big, but a whole size big. I also ordered the Birkenstock Boston in 36. For reference, here are my sizes in these particular brands: Nike Air Max 2009 & 2014 (size 6), Nike Free Run 2.0 and 4.0 (size 6½), J. Crew Heels (size 6½), Saucony Mirage running shoes (size 6½), Dansko clogs (size 37). I really hope this helps with a size guide for small(er) feet!

Ok, I almost ordered these shoes about 3 hours ago, and I was trying to decide between a 38 and a 39, since I am always in between a 7.5 and an 8. I would say that I'm an 8 about 60% of the time, and 7.5 about 40% of the time. The only other size I have ever worn is 8.5 in some high-end designer shoes. I had no idea what to do with these, so I decided to actually go try them on somewhere. Well, I just did that and I am a perfect 37, which is 6-6.5 in US sizes. So I would recommend ordering a full size or size and a half down. I just had to come back on here and share this as a public service. :-) As for style, this is my first pair of Birkenstocks and I kind of wish they were somehow narrower, but then I guess they wouldn't be super comfortable. Can't win them all! The other interesting thing is that I completely intended to buy the white patent leather ones, and then when I got there I loved the antique lace ones. They look a little pink in this picture, but in real life they are sort of warm pearlescent. Ok, good luck everyone!

Liked the shoe, but the toe piece hurt too much to wear for any length of time. Read the reviews and tried to break it in, but had too much pain. Great Arch support. I will try a shoe that is not a thong.

I really wanted to like these because they are cute and the color is really nice. However, the toe piece was painful and I had to return them. I ordered the Mayari and they are much more comfortable!
