I really wanted to like the shoe but because my feet are already big it looks like a clown shoe on me. It runs large. Definitely need to order a size down next time.

Converse! Because I like walking up to folks and talking with them. Get it, "converse"? I bought these shoes because having all-black shoes was a necessity for a repeated banqueting gig at a local, upscale hotel and conference center. I didn't want dress shoes, as I thought to wear them casually, as well. They are Converse brand—and All-Stars—yet not Chuck Taylor-type shoes. Different, yet not bad! They're slightly better-made. The fit was true to size in both length and width. They come untied a bit much, as I don't like double-knotting the laces (which are only slightly too long). The material on top is a durable cloth, and they did a good job matching the blacks. There is little arch support, if any, though. I purchased—and recommend—orthopedic insoles with these for those thinking of doing any more than being seen with them! After around two years of being my primary casual footwear, the rubber soles did wear through [see: attached photo]. I'm a walker, though, and a thrifty one, at that; therefore, I don't like to buy shoes often. I'm buying new shoes today because the insoles I purchased are the only thing between my feet soles and the ground (and I was caught in the rain—puddles, man)!

Started out felt promising that it would be comfortable, but after tried them around the house for half an hour... my little pinky, balls of feet, and bunions were screaming! Would love to keep this colour but I'm afraid they will have to go back. :( :(
I'd also recommend:

Definitely are a full size larger. Normally, I wear a men's 8.5, but the 7.5 fit about right.

I love these shoes and I’ve always wanted to own a pair. I read reviews and even went off of the recommendation from Converse themselves and went down half a size but even then the shoes felt too big. I’m typically a 9 in most shoes and I bought an 8.5 but those felt like they were gonna slip off because of how big they were . So I’d say go down a whole size rather than a half.

These Chuck Taylor’s are funky and fresh. I got them in red and I feel like they provide the right amount of pop to any casual outfit! They don’t have a ton of padding or arch support, but they are still comfy enough to wear all day!

I wear a 10, but I wear a 9 1/2 in these. Ordered the red for a character costume, but love wearing them with holiday outfits too. This is my second pair.

I really love this classic style that I used to where when I was in my teenage years. A good throwback shoe. As others have stated in their reviews these shoes run larger than normal. So, You should buy a size down. In my case, I normally wear size 14 for sneakers. I should have listened to the reviews but I bought a 14 anyway and my feet were swimming in the shoe. I returned the 14s and bought size 13 and they were perfect. The shoes are not very forgiving if you have flat or sensitive feet. The soles of my feet ached when walking around in the shoe and if you walk on uneven ground you can really feel it poke you in the feet. I had to take out the default soles that came with the shoe and replaced them with some Dr. Scholls soles which feel alot better. Due to the style of the shoe itself which has a flat bottom, they are not really designed to cushion your foot. However, this purchase was more nostalgic for me and I love the way they look. However, if i know I am going to be walking alot or standing for long periods than I would go with a different pair of shoes for the occasion.

I love these! They are classics. I only wish the quality was higher, because they only last me a single season before I have to replace them.

I’m in South Korea and have been for a year and I have tried to find a store that sells converse in a size 8 women’s and I haven’t been able to find any, not even at the military exchange store. I heard about Zappos from a friend who orders from here and was a bit worried shipping would take too long shipping to overseas locations or if they would even ship to APO but I very impressed with Zappos it only took two weeks to get my converse. The converse fit me perfect and I will be ordering from Zappos more often as long as I’m still in South Korea! Thank you Zappos!!!

What can you say? They're Chuck's. I read a few complaints about Nike changing some of the components, but I can't tell the difference. Most people ordering these will already know what they're getting, but for the newcomers, I'll give a few details. These shoes are true to size and require almost no break in, although I do think they look better with age. If it's under 40 degrees, they're also not fun because a thin layer of canvas makes it feel like you're bare foot in cold and water soaks straight through. I know it's obvious, but if it's cold, look for the wool or seasonal Chuck's.

Bought these and Pumas of size 11.5. The Pumas fit perfectly, but these were too big. My othopedic insoles were sliding inside them. I went out and got Happyfeet size large and they fit in perfectly. these shoes provide little shock absorption. They force you to walk correctly to avoid pain: don't overextend the knee and don't strike your heel.

You can't really go wrong with the classic white Chucks. Most peeps order a half-size smaller than their norm.

These shoes are pretty darn casual, yet elegant shoes. For those of you who like the business casual style, these (tan colored) shoes will work very well. They are built rather well I do not foresee these shoes breaking apart rather soon, or it might be better to say I am rather happy knowing I will keep these shoes with me for many years to come. The soft cloth-like top is great for day-to-day wear, though it also gives them a soft back which makes it hard to put them on without a shoehorn. That is pretty much a must have for these shoes. I love the style of these shoes, they are built well. My only two complains would be that the white toe area is extremely easy to scuff and dirty, but also easy to wash. The real complaint is comfort. Wearing them for a few hours, sure. Wearing them all day, without shoe inserts, I would not dare. They are flat inside so they are not very comfortable on the soles. For example, the other day I volunteered at a wine event in downtown Chicago where I had to walk around all day without much time to sit. Having only recently bought the shoes, at the time I had the shoes for only about three weeks, I thought it would be a perfect test. After all was said and done, the bottom of my feet were not happy and my big toe was bruised. I do not get that from my business shoes when I walk around all day. I did from these shoes. But it is worth noting that I have also gotten that from other shoes as well such as my army shoes and older flats. Mostly when I hike and have to put a lot of pressure on my feet. So take my comments about comfort with a grain of salt and try them yourself. Overall, I think theses shoes are great but they could use some better sole pad. I am planning on buying another color of these shoes because I like the style so much.

I've been wearing Chuck Taylors for year. Only now I have to order them online and stick to the classic colors because these are the only ones that come in half sizes. I'd have tons of pairs if they made other colors in the half sizes. They're comfortable and they go with everything; that's what I love about them. Even my office clothes when I'm walking back and forth to the train because they're so classic that although they do look out of place they still match in a non-match way. I rated them only 3 stars for comfort because if you need more arch support; there's none at all and you'll need to supplement with an insole and there is a period of breaking in. However I have wide feet, and these accommodate. Also, I disagree that woman's sizes are "true to size." I've found I have to order a half size down. e.g. I normally wear a 7-7.5 but with these I order the 6.5 for women (4.5 for men).

Nice! Comfortable, but I had to size down (even after taking the Converse sizes into account). They look really good, but I tore the canvas on the side of one of them trying to pull it onto my foot (without untying) after only wearing them a couple times. Too bad, but I think if you just untie them every time, should be awesome.

A classic, like mom and apple pie, you can't go wrong with Converse. I am so happy to have re-found them. They have essentially no arch support, but an insert works fine.
