I spent two days hunting for the right pair of shoes for my needs. I wanted to shop with a trusted American shoe company that has been well established. While searching in the boot section, I was happy that Florsheim offered the zipper variety of "Beatle boots" instead of the elastic ones. Although, I was not thrilled with the color offerings that Florsheim provided for the Duke dress boots, I found that the cognac color was O.K. Luckily, I solved that problem by darkening the boots with Huberd's shoe grease. So, just be warned that when it says cognac, it will look like chestnut or milk chocolate in color, not brown. As for comfort, I wear these boots everyday at my job. I could not ask for anything more stylish and easy on the feet. They look professional in both my suits and chinos. They also look great with my vintage '70s wardrobe. A perfect shoe for almost every occasion. If there was something to complain about, it would be only one thing. Florsheim, if y'all are reading this, can y'all match the color of zipper with the leather? I think the black zipper with the boot leather clashes a little.

Imperials used to be available in a "cordovan" color - the 'Cognac" looks more brown. Would like to see the "cordovan" in this boot....I do like the product

I believe the old heel of 1 1/8 inches is best for this boot.I wore this boot in the 70's & 80's everywhere. Today I found an old pair #'s7712456-22 or 93164 IA in a closet upstairs.

Have been wearing Essex and Dukes boots for over 35yrs for leisure, work and dress in most colors except white. Always looks good and comfortable for long hours of wearing. The Dukes with higher heels gives that western look when wearing western cut pants or dress cloths. It would be a nice effect if Florsheim would make more of western half boot with round toe, square toe and pointed toe styles. It would improve their boot line.

We go dancing every Friday, and Saturday, and these are my dancing shoes. I purchased a pair of brown, and a pair of black. Very stylish, and smart looking. The right shoe in brown for some reason is very tight going on, but then is fine. No problem with the black pair.

I have bought Florsheim Dress Boots for over 15 years for both Dress and on the job in colors: Blk, Brn & Cherry Brn..Boots look good and wear well.. Well continue to buy. The only thing that I have found happens with the ones I have bought, is that as the boot gets older with wear, that the inner sole gets thinner and you start to feel the hard shank in the arch of the foot. Then I have to buy inner foot cushion (foam pad) for the foot.. With the new boot I bought I found that the sewn "Welt" around the sole of the boot has been eliminated and the sole is just glued onto the structure of the boot and the sole leather is much thinner which will wear out sooner. The removal of the sewing welt on the sole makes it more expensive to have boot resoled and most shoe repair shops don't like to work on them, to easy to damage the boot where the sole is attached (Glued). And only full sole no half sole. Not having a Welt on the boot, I think takes away the appearance of the Quality of the boot..

Hurts the balls of my husbands feet. Had to purchase foot liners with a good cushion. Still not perfectly comfortable. The boots are very attractive and classie. But he wanted a boot he could wear all day and not have his feet hurt. He's a salesman, and wears expensive cloths. The boots look great, but can not ware the boots as much as he wanted to. I would only recommend for formal wear.

the product I ordered was shipped and arrived in the timeframe promised. I need to try the footwear to ensure size. I was impressed by the usual Florsheim quality but I need boots one 1/2 size larger. I followed the return/exchange process and the right size boots arrived and I'm happy. My feet are happy and I'm impressed.

I have been buying this boot for well over 20 years. I wear them everyday for work and also for more formal occasions. They look great with everything from jeans to a tuxedo. I especially like the heel and the point of the boot. All my slacks are cut for the height of the heel. I would be very upset if Florshiem stopped making this boot. I did see a decrease in quality when they began making them in India. The weak area of the boot is where the sole meets the leather on this sides. Recently I have ordered them in a 1/2 size larger which seems to be better. I am always complimented on these boots. Would like to see more color options i.e. cordavan or burgandy. Not crazy about the brown that is offered. Overall it is a great boot and seeing that I am a 3E in width it is not easy to find a boot as attractive as this in my size. I hope will continue to be made for another 20+ years.

I have been wearing this style for many years; like the smart look and get compliments from everyone. I especially like the higher than normal heel and the zipper makes it easy to put them on and to take them off. The only negative is that the shoe needs a soft inner sole for more comfort.

I used to buy this boot and other Florsheim products under your Florsheim Royal Imperial brand name. Those shoes had a better quality of leather and make. These boots are good and I like them but would like to see you make these the "old fashioned way" i.e., with Florsheim Royal Imperial materials and quality.

I wear the boots mostly with suits. I do have a problem only with the last two pair of boots I've purchased, the sock on my left foot seem to bunch up around my big toe and after a while it becomes VERY uncomfortable. Other than that I have no complaint and be assured I will be buying more of the same boot. Terry

I first bought a pair of these back back when I was 18 for my senior prom and I have replaced them ever since when they wear out (I'm 26 now). They look like they came right out of the 60's--even my dad and people who wore beatle boots back in the day say so. I get complements about them all the time from chicks and dudes alike. They go great with my tight black pants, my slim fitting pants in general and my suit. Unfortunately, they wear out somewhat quickly, make an undesirable sound when they rub together and the leather soles absorb water easily; so it's a bad idea to wear them in wet weather. I'd give these boots a 5 star rating if they were made with rubber soles, thereby making them more waterproof and durable.

I have worn the Royal Imperial boots since mid-70's. In those days they were taller with a horizontal band at top. For a while the bicycle toe left - glad it's back. I have always kept 1 blk and 1 light brown (over years you have named it antique gold thru several other names to the current cognac. But the color has always been more tan than brown and very stylish.) I like the slightly higher heel and all my trousers are tailored to the additional height. These are the only "dress shoes" I ever wear except for patent tux shoes and topsiders or sneakers. No loafers or lace-ups for me thanx....I prefer the zipper. I recommend the boots to everyone and have several happy converts. I get 2 resoles and multiple heels to every pair and usually have a pair in waiting in a box in the closet of each color. My only problem with the current cognac is finding a paste wax that matches the shade. I am mixing cordovan and tan right now but it's a pain. Love the boots....When I've worn them out they are donated to Performing Arts Supply in Houston and appear on stages all around the Gulf Coast region. PS the running narrow is no problem for me. My "actual" shoe size is 9b..so the narrow last is a plus for me.
