Previously had a pair of these sandals and they were very comfortable. These seem small and the leather is like plastic and very stiff.

The bottom of the shoe feels great to walk on. It is well-cushioned with good arch support. The problem is with the underside of the strapping. The stitching isn't covered and scratches. The edges of straps are squared off, not rounded, and so the edges rub and scratch the tops and sides of my feet and toes.
For what I paid for them, I would have thought small details like this would automatically be addressed by the manufacturer.

These Sunbeats are not worth purchasing. I waited to write my review to see how the shoes hold up. They started out too short and too tight. They remained the same length, but the straps have now stretched to the point that I cannot keep them on, even with the buckles in the tightest notch. The arch on the right shoe is higher than the arch on the left shoe. The back strap is no longer lined. The top leather is ripping from the shoe base on both shoes. And the base is crumbling apart on the bottom of one shoe. I have kept track and have worn these sandals only 22 times since purchase. These are pretty expensive sandals for less than a month's wear.

I'm having the same experience. Have had the Sunbeats for about 15 years, they have been with me as the my 'go to' pair of shoes - always my first choice for comfort. Sadly, they're at the end of the road. Ordered a new pair of Clarks sandals, same size as always, 8.5 wide, however, they are too tight across the widest part of my foot. I agree with the previous writer - 1/4" of leather makes a crucial difference. I have to send mine back as I cannot wear them. Will look for other Clarks but am hoping this isn't the case with all of their shoes.

These may look similar, but these Sunbeats are by far inferior to the older ones. The leather is more like cardboard, very rigid and cheap. I still have and wear my 10 year old Sunbeats - soft leather (from Italy - not China) and even though I am trying to wear my new ones for shorter distances, I have to rely on my old ones for my long walks and outings. I won't be buying these again unless Clarks brings back the high quality of the old ones.

I have worn Clarks for years and own this particular stlye. I was very disappointed in this purchase. The fit was fine, but something new had been applied to the straps. It irritated my skin to the point where I could not wear the shoes on my vacation. Now I am able to wear them for short periods at a time.

I have worn Clarks Sunbeat sandals for years. They have been an attractive and comfortable shoe for me. But I am very disappointed in the changes Clarks has recently made to them. First, they are now made in China, and like many Chinese products, the man-made materials (the sole) stinks. Most of it airs out in a couple of days, but the residual smell might bother someone sensitive to odors (like me). Secondly, the footbed no longer cradles the foot -- instead, it is flat. When the footbed cradled the foot, it gave wide feet like mine more room while still looking trim compared to other shoes of that size. Now the shoes feel narrower (as many other reviewers have said). When the footbed cradled the foot it also provided more cushioning. The flat footbed feels less cushioned, despite it having cushion pads. So now the sandal does not fit me well. I have to decide between my size (7-1/2W), which is now too narrow, or the 8W, which provides more width but is too long. I would return them except that the Mushroom color fits my wardrobe very well and is hard to find. But I am returning the black pair and instead bought a similar pair of black sandals from a competitor. I hope Clarks listens to this feedback and changes the shoe back to the way it was.

This pair of Clarks did not work for me. This brown color is terrible, leather stiff. I would get a blister in a few minutes walking in these. On the other hand, last year I purchased the bronze color and they are the opposite of these -- soft leather, nice color, and I can walk all day. Forget about these.

Got these as a replacement for a five plus year old pair, same style. Not the same; cheap looking stiff leather upper rather than the heavyweight durable Clarks of old.

I ordered this shoe because I had one in the past I liked.
That one was made in England, and the leather was soft and flexible. The pair I just got had hard leather and the attachments for the straps were at a strange angle. These shoes were made in China. I don't know if that is the reason for the decrease in quality, but I am disappointed with the shoes.

Not what it should have been. I have a very hard time finding shoes. My Mom had bought this shoe in a 9 W. It was a good inch to big. So I ordered a 8 1/2W. I was so excited when the shoe came. Big disappointment! My toe was over the end of the shoe. Plus there was a wrinkle under my right little toe. Very uncomfortable, so if the shoe had fit, it still would have been returned. For this price I expected a better quality shoe!

Please improve the soles of these sandals! I currently own 6 pair of the Sunbeat sandals, all in different colors. I have found them very, very comfortable. However, 3 pair have had trouble with the soles. As a previous reviewer has remarked, the soles seem to disintegrate. I wore a pair to work this morning and as I walked from the parking lot, I noticed a different "feel." Not only was the sole split across each sandal, but the heel portion on both shoes had separated from the sandal. I had not worn these particular sandals more than 20 times. I truly love the sandals, but am so very disappointed to have so many of them faulty.

Self Destructing soles -
I used to own/wear nothing but Clark shoes and sandals. But on every single pair, whether sandals or regular shoes, the soles cracked and then began to fall apart. Literally, the sole would just fall apart! This can't be a problem they don't know about (since others have posted about this same issue) but the company did not acknowledge any responsibility. So, even though I love Clarks, I cannot afford to purchase shoes that self destruct!

I have severe arthritis in both my feet and have had several operations on both feet. Clarks were the only comfortable sandals/shoes I could wear. I believe they used to call the Sunbeats Springers. That's when they fit me well. I'm glad I bought several pair back then because the newest pair I bought of the "Sunbeats" were way off. I had to take them to a shoemaker to have the right heel strap shortened. I have worn Clarks for 25 years with no problems until recently. I will have to seriously consider before I purchase another pair. Also, they need to have more variety in wide width. Very disappointed in the "new" Clarks.

I ordered two separate pairs of these Sunbeats for my wife, and I have to say the quality just isn't in the Clarks name anymore. The first pair the straps were too far forward on the shoe and her toes were hanging off the shoe. We requested a replacement pair, and fortunately Zappos is a customer oriented company, and they replaced them. The replacement pair arrived and the material covering the inside of the shoe at the toes wasn't even attached to the shoe, so we sent both pairs back. We can't blame Zappos for these problems as they are just the middle merchandiser and are subject to the poor manufacturing, as are we customers.

I have been a Clarks customer for more than 10 years and particularly enjoyed wearing this style shoe (I order this style every year). For the last 3 years, the quality has gone down hill. I wear a 9 wide and in the past took the shoes out of the box and could wear them all day. The pair I just received were not as wide, the material cheap and the comfort level very low. I had blisters on my feet within 2 hours of wearing them. I am very disappointed in the shoe and it will have to be my last pair.

I am completely losing faith in Clarks shoes. In the past I have always been able to order a size 8 1/2 M and have them fit perfectly regardless of the style. Lately the Clarks shoes I have bought are either too small or too ill-fitting (? due to now being made in China?) These sandals are a prime example. I have this exact same shoe that I purchased over 6 years ago in my usual size and they still fit perfectly but were getting quite worn out so I purchased this style again since the original sandals were so comfortable and wore so well. The back strap on these must be shorter because my foot is pushed forward and my toes hang over the front of the sandal, not a desired look @ all! I will order a half size larger and give them another try, but I think it's time to find a new brand.

These are the strangest, most ill-fitting shoes I have ever purchased. I should have heeded the other reviews - the back strap is NOT adjustable, and insanely short. (It doesn't even have any elastic.) So, your foot is forced forward, and your toe hangs over the front of the sandal, while there's almost a full inch of space at the heel. I can't speak for the comfort, because I tried on the right shoe, and put it RIGHT back in the box. The style was kind of cute, the nubuck color was pretty. It's a shame the shoe is made so poorly.

I am so disappointed in these incarnations of my favorite sandals. I purchased six pairs in different colors 12 years ago, and they are still going strong, but I wanted to replace the black pair. I ordered them, and absolutely agree with the other posters that your toes hang over the top, and the back strap is too short. Something is drastically wrong. They fit nothing like the originals. I ordered them half a size larger, with a narrow width, and several other variations. However, nothing worked. Alas, I had to return them, and am on the hunt for substitutes, which are very difficult to find. Nothing is as good as these sandals. I would gladly pay more if Clarks would go back to the original recipe. Please Clarks, listen to your faithful fans! Why change something that was clearly not broken?

I have always bought Clark sandals and always loved them. The quality was superb, and they held up wonderfully. Within 2 months the lining of this sandal came up, and the strap broke: pitiful. I will never buy another pair of sandals from Clark.

Ditto to comment of 6/24/11 from Sacramento, CA. I didn't see this comment before I ordered. So many of Clarks shoes are now on a par with shoes you might see at K Mart or Target (ill-fitting and missing quality). Sure glad I could send these back. Zappos, how about giving us the option of a 0 star rating. Ditto to the comment posted 6/24/11 from Sacramento, CA. The two pair I ordered are going back. My previous Sunbeats were great and lasted about 7 years. The current Sunbeat shoe is cheap, cheap, cheap!

Very disappointed. I am a long time lover of the Sunbeats. I bought every color 10 years ago, and they are all going strong. I decided to get another pair of black, and ordered the "new" Sunbeats. The shoe felt at least 1/2 shorter. It, in no way, fit the way the ones Made in England fit. I wonder if the ones made in Italy fit the same way? Anyway, this is going back.

I am very disappointed with these shoes. I purchased them at a local upscale department store. I paid a lot and wore them on a recent trip to San Juan, the insole area come apart and stuck to my foot. I could not find my receipt so the store would not let me return them. I have had Clark sandals in the past the I loved but these were trash and I paid good money for them!

This is the fourth pair of these Clarks I've bought; they used to be my favorite walking sandal. But I should have listened to another reviewer, who wrote that they're now made in China and the quality is not the same. The leather is not soft and supple as before -- now it's more like cardboard. I made the mistake of wearing the shoes right out of the box for a long trek around NY and I've got blisters to show for it. That would not have happened with the earlier models of this shoe, which were fabulously comfortable from the start. I am really disappointed. This is my last pair of Sunbeats.

Disappointed - I have owned to two pairs over the last four years and am highly disappointed in the make of the sole. Each pair of Sunbeats were worn approximately 30 to 40 times over a two year period. The tops are in good condition; however, the soles are self disintegrating. Again, I'm highly disappointed in Clarks considering my son is still wearing his Clarks's loafers after 8 years.
