I like high quality leather in a shoe or boot. So why is leather coming up dry on expensive footwear? Obviously the sad truth is the manufactures are cutting expenses by cutting quality. Dr. Martin's Shoe Balsam knocks out the dryness and softens leather. I have used mink oil and neats foot oil on my expensive footwear. The results were not pleasing and I don't recommend using either on footwear. Dr. Martin's Wonder is definitely the way to go if you like soft supple leather with a healthy glow!

This stuff is pretty great. I like that it's clear and something you don't have to apply carefully or let dry. It's made with natural stuff and sinks into leather, which helps with softening and protection. Some reviews have given the impression it's 100% natural, but it doesn't smell that way. Although there isn't a list of all the ingredients so I can't confirm that. I bought the balsam primarily for a nearly new, secondhand pair of Dr. Martens I recently acquired. Even though I have coconut oil at home that I could use on them, I wanted something a little more protective, but still somewhat natural. I've applied it almost every night to my Docs, and they really have softened nicely. I'm going to start spacing out applications more now that they've been broken in for a few weeks. I should note that my pair are U.K. made so the leather is different and much softer than more recently made pairs. Although I have also applied this to my other pair of flat soled Docs (which were more recently made) as well as a pair of good quality leather Frye boots. I thought both were in great condition, but this stuff makes them even better. Overall, it's worth a try. Read the almost completely five star reviews and decide for yourself. It's inexpensive and it's great for all types of leather footwear and the different climates that footwear is in.

I own several pairs of Docs and the shoe balsam keeps them looking great. I used this product on other shoes as well with the same results. Keeps boots/shoes looking fresh no matter how old and beat up they get. Keeps leather healthy and strong. I wish I could have used this back in the army!

The best shoe balsam ever. Works for all colors, conditions leather perfectly. Has restored all of my leather shoes.

Good stuff - makes the boots leather look clean and new. Helps with scuffs but doesn't perform any miracles. Wish I bought this when I first bought my boots and not 5 years later trying to fix them after I damaged them. A must have with Doc Martens purchase!

Great price on an essential accessory for your doc's! This is great for keeping your leather from drying out in the creases over time, and helping them maintain a smoother look. I have used it on some other leather shoes I have and it worked well there, too, even making a big ugly scuff mark on the toe cap fade away to where I can't see it anymore. I've used this on both black and cherry red with good results on both so far.

A little goes a long way. Not black -- closer to a clear/amber paste that doesn't dry to a haze like shoe polish does. Keeps the leather soft and gives a matte shine.

Before wearing my new Keen shoes, I wanted to put on something to protect them. This seems to do the trick. I also used this on some old Doc Martens, and they look so much nicer now.

If you spend the money on Docs, you have to get this. It is much better than mink oil and won't gunk up the natural pores in the shoes, keepin' all natural looking! I was surprised that these came with a cool applicator and a little separator to still keep it in the container after you use it. Well worth the money.

Fantastic. Removes scruffs, dents, blemishes from my Doc Martens, shines them up really nice, and keeps the leather supple. It's also easy to use as it comes with its own applicator sponge. It's also surprising how far a little bit will go. I recommend this.

I have used this product previously and had been unable to find it in any stores, even the specialty stores that sell their shoes. I ordered from Zappos at a good price and received my order in a couple of days. This is a great product and lasts forever!

This stuff is awesome! My new Dr Martens were already starting to look a bit scuffed and this balm made them look shiny again. It also helped soften the leather.

Believe the hype! Just applied on my boots and leather sneakers. This product is far better than other leather treatments I have used in the past. It instantly brings new life to your favorite pairs of shoes. It appears to clean, polish, and repair the leather. My only complaint is with the packaging, it includes an applicator sponge, and to access the product, I ended up cracking the casing trying to remove the compartment that houses the sponge. I'd say its equal parts poor design and user error, there's probably an easier way. Regardless, recommended.

I found it to greatly improve the appearance of some badly scuffed shoes; so it seems like a pretty good product. Would recommend.

I love this wax, I've used it on both black and brown leather shoes and it definitely brought back the original finish and helped mask some scuff marks. The product includes a foam applicator for easy use, just polish the wax into your shoes and watch it breath new life into your leather.

Use this with all Dr. Martens leather shoes or boots, and leather will last much longer and look better. Use it with all leathers, but I can't emphasize it enough for Dr. Marten brand leather shoes.
I'd also recommend:

Good grief this stuff is amazing. Took my old Vasque Sundowners, which have been used and abused every summer for the last 10 years, and look it, back to looking almost brand new. The axe and bramble scars are still there, but the leather no longer looks dry and mistreated. Everything I've tried over the years hasn't helped nearly this much, even stuff vastly more expensive. Very easy to apply, but if you drop the sponge onto something while it's soaked in the stuff, and you better treat it quick with some detergent, 'cause if it dries on your shirt, it's never coming out.

Wow, just tried not only on my new Martens, but an older casual shoes and the result is amazing. It completely fixed and recovered even the small - almost invisible - scratch. Highly recommended!

Talk about your ease of application! I love this balsam because it’s not only a no-brainer to use, it actually works, and a little goes a long way. I polished all my leather shoes, boots and purses. I’m pretty hard on my stuff so I was relieved to see everything start to look like new again. The balsam did turn my tan leather purse into a slightly richer shade, as if I were staining woodwork - it looks even better than before, like it has new life to it.

Wow! I just received this in the mail and I immediately put in on my shoes that I ordered two weeks ago. This product makes my shoes look out of the box brand new! I can't say enough about this product, except it comes in a sort of small package, but you don't need much to get an amazing result! And with Zappos.com it's reasonably priced with free shipping! I think this product will last me a long time, but I think I might just have to order more!

Good Stuff - Does alright on waxing up your shoes and scuffs, but if you really want to waterproof your shoes - leather or suede - this stuff is great and safe and works in one application. Also, lexol products are ph balanced and safe for leathers for cleaning and conditioning, great on horse tack also . Both products I do tack cleaning and have learned a lot on cleaning, conditioning, and treating leather and suede.
I'd also recommend:

Perfect. Saved my $140 pair of shoes. I have a pair of Campers. Like a dummy, I played around with my boy kicking a soccer ball around with them, and the tips were very worn out afterwards. I bought this on an impulse, together with something else. I fully thought that it wouldn't work. It does. My shoes look as good as ever, you could never tell the difference between the leather on the tips and that on the sides. Strongly recommended.
