This is a great pair of shoes, but more importantly the service is outstanding with Zappos. I had some initial problems with sizing, but they worked with me to resolve the issue. Super fast shipping and fantastic service.

Shoes are great, stiff leather, good quality details, sturdy eyelets and lacing. Zappos service is absolutely the best in the world. I tried Onlineshoes.com one time which was a disaster, and will stay true to Zappos from now on.

Great pair of shoes. Nice style, fit and comfort. Once they get broken in the comfort would be a 5. Highly excited about my purchase.

I just love them. I wear a women's 8, but ended up in a size 5 to get the right length. The insoles are removable and my orthotics fit perfectly.

These are great shoes. They run slightly bigger than other Docs. I have several pairs and always wear an 11 but I had to send these back for a 10. They are great for casual or a hip dressed up look. They are comfortable enough to wear all day.

These shoes ROCK!! These have been my hubby's favorite work shoes he is in Entertainment and they are so comfy that you can wear them all day long! Beware if you ever get these shoes you'll never want another pair of shoes. These can take you from day to night events they always look cool!

Ever since Dr. Martens began manufacturing shoes outside the UK I've been hesitant to buy any. (Especially after my experiences with the once-great Born.) Opinions online vary widely as to the quality and durability of Docs made in China versus those made in Thailand versus those made in Vietnam versus those still made in the UK for about 50% more (Dr. Martens Vintage). I can't speak to durability yet, but comfort and style get a big thumbs-up for the 1461s (Napa Leather, Vietnam) I received yesterday. My expectations were so low that I was anticipating sending them back today. Instead, I'm surprised and happy to report that the air sole still bounces and there is ZERO break-in time. No heel-rub, no blisters, 100% satisfaction so far. Sizing does seem to have changed, however. I used to wear UK 10 (US 11) in British-made Docs but now the UK 11 (US 12) fits better. Also, I should mention that I hedged my bets with the Dr. Martens Comfort Insole after reading that they helped approximate half sizes, which don't exist for Docs. Just make sure to remove the ones that come with the shoes, first. They just slip right out.

Solid construction, very comfortable. I was able to wear these on a month-long trip that required lots of walking after breaking them in for about a week. Definitely would buy again.

I love these shoes. I have the cherry red and they look great with everything. They come with black and yellow laces (a cool alternative). Yes, they are made in China and no loner have the embossed logo on the outside of the ankle but I don't think the quality has been compromised. I highly recommend them. I typically wear a US 10.5 or 11, depending on the shoe. I bought a UK 9 and they fit great.

This is the 5th pair of Dr. Martens I've purchased and the 3rd from Zappos. The shoe is VERY comfortable, in spite of the fact that they are no longer being made in the UK. And Zappos customer service absolutely ROCKS!

The shoes and Zappos' service are both amazing. Well made leather shoe that goes great with anything and everything. Size, however, read on...I'm a female who usually wears a women's US size 7, and a European size 36-37 (which usually shows up as a US size 6!) So I wasn't really sure what size to get in these shoes. I initially ordered a 7, which were really big! I returned them for the same pair in a US 6 and also a pair of the 1460 W boots in the same size. This shoe is still even a little large at a US 6, but with the laces tied they stay on well and are good with a big pair of socks too. I don't mind the extra space. The boots, however, were exactly what a us 6 feels like. My hypothesis: Because the 3 eye gibson is a mens shoe it runs big for women, the boots were technically a womens shoe so I think they were the right size. That's a lot to write about shoe sizes but I hope it helped someone out!

Nice shoes. Works well in an office or anywhere else. Since they don't come in half sizes I ordered the next size up. They're a bit big (as expected), but with the silver doc martens insoles added the fit is perfect. Great basic shoe that will probably last for years to come.

Ordered the 1461 W first, but returned them for these when the toe box was a little too snug. Also, I originally ordered the 1461W in UK 6, the same size as the 1460 boots I've had for a few years and the 1461W was too big. So I ordered a size down in these and they fit exactly like my boots. Overall really happy with the 1461 shoes and Zappos' service.

I have had a pair of the "Made in China" 1461 (Black smooth) versions for about 5 years, and they are still solid. The tread is worn, but the shoe in general is still comfy. The insoles wore out, so I'm buying a pair of the Dr. Marten insoles to see if I can stretch this pair out another year. They still look great and I wear them 5 days a week to work (office). A little shoe polish shines them up nice. When I purchased them in 2009, I read all the reviews and tried out the Made in England versions (Size 9) and the China versions (Size 9). For reference, I wear a size 9 in most dress shoes and a size 9.5 in Asics 2170 running sneakers. The Made in China size 9 fit me perfect, the Made in England versions were too tight in the toe and I new that a size 10 would be too big. So I took a chance on the Made in China versions and happy to say it has worked out well for me. I paid somewhat less back in 2009 and got 5 years and counting out of them. I've been wearing Docs for over 20 years and will continue to do so.

These are great shoes. They may need a little wearing in, but they are so comfy and sturdy. I'm tired of high heels, tight footbeds and the silliness of women's fashion. These shoes look great with pants or skirts. Sensible is IN!

I ordered the black nappa leather...very stiff at first, probably took about 10 miles of walking to half break these in, although very comfortable from the start...the sole is pretty well slip resistant, will make a good kitchen shoe if you spend a fair amount of time in the front of house...very resistant to water and other things, cleans easily...overall very nice shoes! Thank Zappos on quick shipping.

I purchased this shoe as a birthday gift for my husband. Amazingly, they fit perfectly and were so comfortable, he was able to wear them out for a long day of shopping that same day.

These are always a great bet, my husband wears these everyday and he would not change. He said this particular pair did not have the usual break in period.

I have been wearing these shoes for about a month and am happy with my purchase. It is a simple shoe (with a bit of an edge) with plenty of room in the toe box. Leather seems decent quality. These shoes definitely require some breaking in-probably a couple of weeks-so they should not be worn on long walks when new. I wore a thin nylon sock liner (as used for hiking) under my usual socks during the break-in period and that helped considerably. I like that they came with an extra set of laces (in yellow); that's a nice touch.

That's weird because I never have a problem breaking them in and I have like 20 pairs. I am a size 10 in women's - I am an 8 in Dr. Martens.

Hi all, bought these for myself via a christmas gift card to Zappo's from a family member. That process was very, very quick and easy. The hard part was deciding which Doc's I wanted. I decided on the low-top 1461 3-eye Gibson's in the more expensive Nappa leather. Mine are made in malaysia, have the Dr. Martin stamp near the heel of the shoe, and have the more classic Doc look, IMO. These shoes in two months of wearing them almost every day have been a GREAT shoe. I'm a size 13 and I ordered a size 13, and the fit is very comfortable. Just recently, I wore these for 2 full walking days around disneyland and enjoyed a very high level of comfort with very little foot fatigue each day. Still very pleased with my purchase and choice of the Black Nappa style.

If you are worried about the new shoes blues, it's going to happen so plan for it. If you like the Doc Marten style but don't want the boots, these shoes are a great alternative. As for comfort level they are the same as the boots once you have them broken in, but if you are planning to do a lot of walking I would go with the boots.

Great shoes. Need to be broken in before you try to walk to far. This takes only a a few days. Very comfortable walking and going about your day. Look great and will last a long time.

Dr. Marten's has made a change with the insole of these shoes. They are a lot more comfortable than I remember. I havent owned a pair of Doc Martens in ten years and Zappos made it easy to order up a new pair of Docs.
