Long time wearer. I have been wearing Doc Martens since the mid 90s, my last pair of black ones lasted over 10 years till the sole finally separated from the shoe, but the upper was still in good condition. I have to honestly say Doc Martens are still good shoes, but nothing like the originals that were made in England. I actually thought the ones I have were imitations till I looked them up here at Zappos and found they are real, but am really disappointed the way companies have given up quality for profits.

Nice and sturdy, but seem a little big for the size. Don't like the shoe laces, unties very easily. Overall review: above average.

Love Them! I bought these shoes for my husband for his 50th birthday. He absolutely loves them, and is very impressed with his first pair of Doc Martens. His only concern is that when the shoes are worn enough that he needs to polish them, the white stitching, which is a large part of the shoe, could turn black from the polish. I told him to email the company and see how to avoid this, other than just by being careful when polishing them. As these shoes will be worn for work at least three times a week, he's certain that they will be extremely durable, as opposed to cheaper versions of dress casual shoes. I love them...I think they're sexy! :)

Boy’s shoes - I love these shoes, but while I chose these for being the least clunky they are clunky. They are very much boys shoes. I think they are great. They are pretty comfortable, but since I don't have much opportunity to wear them they are not getting broken in quickly. They are solid and comfortable, but will take time to soften up some.

DMs are always cool..... I ordered a pair with a wing-tipped design a few years ago, which I always wore, but am thrilled to have the classic oxfords again -- they go with everything! I only wish they came in half sizes. I am a 7.5 but, from experience with DMs, went with an 8 as I'd rather have the shoe be a little big, than mutilate my foot with a 7 waiting for it to stretch and break in. I think something is lost in the quality and it takes away from the authenticity of the shoe. Still, I love how they look and they are totally comfortable, if not a tad big. Definitely recommend them - they are the go-to shoe with jeans, slacks, or skirts.

Good lookin shoe - I liked the shoe very much in appearance and the size felt good overall. The only problem I have is trying to break in the back of the shoe where the leather comes in contact with the back of the heel or the Achilles tendon. Very painful. Other than that I am very satisfied with the shoe.

Looks great; fits good- This is my second pair of Doc Martens. They look great and shine to a high luster. I had the contrasting stitching dyed black so they can be worn with a suit. It is taking a bit of time to break them in compared to the last pair.

Classic Shoe - Classic look for a casual shoe. Love the Air sole but the upper around the heel is unforgiving. They will break in with time as I have owned a number of pairs of Docs. Nice to see they still offer the quality original shoes.

Have to return for smaller size. Wear a 7.5 in shoes so got an 8. Even with thick sock my heel slips out. Hoping the 7 fits better

These are great shoes, stylish and really comfortable with a nice inner sole. My problem? They are really big. A full cm longer than my Dr Martens 1460 boots, in the same size (9). Clown shoes anyone? When putting them beside my other Dr Martens 1919 boots they are the same size. It's just that the 1919s have a steel toe cap taking up that 1 cm of space. It seems like these shoes were made for steel toe caps, but came without. I now use them as winter shoes with double socks, and they fit kinda okay.

The shoes I received look good, as I would expect from Dr. Martens, but the left shoe has a defect that it took a few days of wearing to discover. The shoe has a band going around the middle where the tongue attaches that is much smaller then the rest of the shoe, so while the leather of the shoe has stretched and become comfortable, right in the middle of the foot is a hard band that constricts my foot. This has made the shoe uncomfortable to wear for more then a short time.

Shoes fit true to size and are comfortable, however I do recommend breaking them in slowly. I took them out of the box and walked around in France all day long. Even with heavy socks I wore the skin off both heels and had large blisters on the balls of my feet.

If you had original Doc Marten's before the late 90s, these will disappoint. They are of much cheaper and thinner leather, and the materials are not the same. Even the tread is see-through at first until they get dirty and I can tell these won't last for a decade like the originals did. If you want the originals try the more expensive classic version. I haven't bought them yet, but the extra money would be worth it if I got the old style quality shoe. For the price that I paid for these new versions, I should have gotten a lot more. Doc Marten should be embarrassed. These are worth about half of what they cost. Now for the good news: they are comfortable out of the box. Take no time to break in like the old versions did, and feel decent on your feet. The sizing is a bit bigger than the old version, though. They look similar and that is good. So if you like this style of shoe, at least you are getting that. All in all a 50/50 experience. Nowhere near as good as the old versions, but no 6 months of wearing to break 'em in.

I am hard to fit on shoes--I tried on a pair of docs in a store and the fit nicely. These very cool stylish shoes look neat--however, the leather is so stiff that the top of my heel (where the shoe rubs) really sore!!!--As they say when the supermodels complain about their high heels—that’s what Tylenol is for!

Sorry, Dr. Martens! I don't know what's wrong with these shoes I bought, but they are extremely tight around the left front area of the left foot. I bought the same size I usually do in these sorts of shoes. Previous experience suggested I buy a slightly smaller size because I would get blisters with larger shoes always rubbing against my heel/ankle. I probably should have exchanged these shoes, but it is too late now! I have many pairs of Docs in various styles, and I must say these are the most uncomfortable ones I've ever owned.

Good-looking shoe, horrible for heels! This is a very nice-looking shoe and is comfortable from the mid-shoe to the toe. However, the heel rubs against the back of the shoe, and there is no padding to buffer that. I wore the shoe for just a few hours, and my heels hurt so badly, that I had to go home. I buy Doc Martens because they're so comfortable, but I just can't wear these.

not for the wide of foot - These shoes look great and would be very comfortable; however, I am typically an E and these shoes are killing me. They are very narrow. I am hoping the break in period will do me right. Wide-footers be warned!!!

I quite like these shoes other than one fatal flaw - they squeak loudly when you walk. I googled this issue and found a video suggesting spraying silicon between the sole and the shoe which does indeed work, but only for a few hours. Later on that day you're squeaking again. And it's too annoying to remember to lubricate your shoes every time you intend to wear them.

Doc Marten has moved the majority of their production to Asia and the quality of these does not compare to older Doc Marten's. This might be acceptable for a cheaper shoe but they shouldn't be charging this much for a shoe that barely lasts a few months.

Bad fit - Well, I've had Doc's since the 80s. This was my first pair made in Asia and its been a year and they still are nothing like any of the other Doc's I've owned. I'm just about to toss them in the trash. The quality is not the same as it used to be. The shoes are stiff, the soles are terrible. Basically they look like middle age oxfords now. Too bad.

I had these as a teenager and always loved them. I am so disappointed, this pair is rubbing terribly and rips my heel apart. They feel much stiffer than the old versions and while I can pinpoint the exact issue, I believe the quality is poor compared to 20 years ago.

Very poor quality. I bought 2 pairs of Doc's this year and the rubber on the bottom cracked on both. Now I get water in my shoes every time it rains. This has happened twice now, on both pairs! Stay away from this garbage. Doc Martens were never like this in the past, I remember wearing the same pair of Doc's for over 10 year with no issues. I will never buy another pair of Doc's unless they are made in the UK by the original company.
I'd also recommend:
Doc Martins that are made in UK ONLY!!
