These were a gift for my 21 year old son, who had wanted a pair for years. He is so happy with them. They fit well and are of good quality leather, so worth what you pay for them.

Unfortunately the reviews highlighting the drop in quality of Dr. Marten's are accurate. I purchased a pair of 1460 11 years ago when I was in high school, wore those boots everywhere and loved them. In fact I recently uncovered that old pair in a box, which after discovering they no longer fit, prompted my new purchase. The leather used in their new boots is of very low quality and after only 3 months of wear has blistered and creased on every surface of the boot. Quality boots will crease in the toe, on the sides of the uppers; where the leather bends repeatedly. But these basically look like a leather shoe version of a person with goosebumps, and no amount of boot oil (neatsfoot oil) or LP obenauf's will solve it. However, those 11 year old Dr. Martens (that were hardly even cared for correctly by foolish high school kid) still look fantastic. Go figure.

This is my 3rd pair of Dr.'s.Consistent in quality and super comfort. Sole inside and out is not only very durable but extremely comfortable on my flat feet. Love the ankle support.Takes only a short time to break them in. My first pair is 20yrs old and no problems with leather, stitching, sole, etc.

Very cool shoes. Very cheaply made. They fit fairly well on the lower foot, but way too loose in the shaft (couldn't even lace them up properly). Thin plastic feeling leather, NO arch support. Returning these to save for a Good pair of boots. I guess you get what you pay for. For shame Dr. Martens, for shame.

Beautiful boots, and in the nick of time for a Christmas gift to my hipster daughter. She loves that they look black, but she "knows they're navy." We knew if we had a problem with the fit of the boot, that Zappos would take care of us!

Excellent quality for the money. Not the same quality as the Docs from the 90s but hey, the world isn't the same either. Great boot for casual Fall and Winter wear, not a boot for the construction site. I will buy another pair for sure! Shipping was slow. I was once a VIP Member and am no longer. I miss that shipping expedience. Well done Zappos.

Fit true to size & color is great. Love them. Perfect for winter weather. No slipping & sliding with these on & fairly warm for everyday wear & tear.

I bought my first Doc's lace up boots, back in the 90's. Warning do not kick a log into a fire. leather kinds of melts? So bought another pair, same kind in the early 2000's. they have been good boots, they back stitching has came loose, so I will have to repair, myself. I will if i have to another pair. just love these boots and have had several comments.

Mmmm. I love me some Doc Martens. I have been wearing them since the 90's and they bring back some great old memories. I have stuck to the low cut oxfords lately since I am an office guy now. HOWEVER, after I saw Miley Cyrus riding a wrecking ball wearing nothing but her 1460 docs, I had to get a pair.. as gross as that was. I used to wear these back in the day, listening to the awesome music of the 90's in my late teens and early twenties. Oh the memories. Definately a keeper but go for the Black NAPPA leather rather than the smooth. It holds up better in my humble opinion.

First Dr. Martens I've purchased. The sizing was right on. These Are the most comfortable boots I own. They look great and fit right.

Dr. Martens are my favorite boots. I have a few pairs I bought 20 years ago and they still look like I purchased them last week. Not only are they durable, but they are the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Also, they never ever smell bad. I could wear them with no socks for a year and they still don't smell. They are worth every cent I paid and are always stylish!

I bought 2 pairs of the 1460s, one Smooth Black and the other Aztec. I bought the size I used to wear back in the 90s with my Docs. They are a little big but not bad, a thick sock took care of that, I couldn't have gotten them a size smaller. The black smooth looked so cheap, it looks like fake leather, UGH made in Viet Nam. On the other hand the Aztec looks good (still made in Viet Nam) but a different type of leather, a little distressed which I like, doesn't look fake. SO the black smooth are going back. It's all in the leather, I think the black greasy would look better but that is just my taste. I decided to get a black pair of the Dr. Marten's Vintage 1460s from another site as they are actually handmade in England like the good old days. Zappos is still my favorite place to buy shoes!

I wear a woman's 10, usually, and a UK8 is usually perfect, these in a UK 8 were far too big, I exchanged them for a UK7, which has been snug but definitely stretching out, SLOWLY. Regardless, I love them. I got these in "greasy" which is a good thick leather, I believe if you want to cut out on the wear-in time, nappa leather may be a good move.

These are the #1 best shoes I ever purchased from Zappos and I've purchased a lot of shoes from Zappos! I ordered the "Black Smooth/Union Jack". I get an abundance of complements every single time I wear them, without fail! Since the British shoe size is slightly different than USA sizes, I got a shoe foot lining.

These boots are nowhere as shiny or as marbled red as the photo. They arrived looking like a darker oxblood color rather than red, near black. On the upside, they show red on creases and scratches. Sizewise, they are seriously wider than expected. I bought the proprietary insoles and still had to put in my old orthotics and wear heavy hiking socks. Not a bad boot, will be great in winter.

Buy Solovair! Do not buy these plastic pieces of junk. Solovair shoes are amazing, and they are even better quality than I remember Docs being. From what I understand, they made the soles at the Solovair factory, but stamped them as Docs. The Solovair leather is supple and real!

I've been wearing Docs since the '90s. This is the second pair of boots I've gotten rid of. Anyone else have this issue? The heel cup top cuts into the achilles tendon. This is a serious problem. After walking all day it feels like a razor blade. I don't think it is confined to this style, as another style I had did the same. Don't get me wrong, these boots are beautiful! Amazing. Look just like the photo. But they are not comfortable. I know the pop sound as the ankle bends on the right boot would get to me over time, and the way the top of the boot digs into my calf. But right away I knew that breaking in wouldn't be enough. I'll be buying something not Docs next time. Wish they felt as great as they look, but I don't care how nice they are if they can't be worn all day. Now Keens are another story.

This is my second pair, the first were too small, but they don't come in 1/2 sizes. I went a full size up and the boot fits with a little bit extra room; however, they are still comfortable.

Other reviewers are right that the leather on these boots seems a lot like plastic. That's a bit unnerving, but the real problem with it is that the boots are super stiff, especially where the top hits my calf. I feel like I would injure myself walking down the street. So they're going back.

At first glance, these boots are great. They're comfortable and the shine is durable. The arch support is mediocre and you may want to get a slightly (1/2 size) larger boot in order to include a better insole. What isn't durable is the leather, which other commenters have noted. Within 8 months of purchase, I experienced cracked leather on the outsides of the toe caps, and the inside heel sheared from the sole of one boot. Since these were used primarily for commuting, I am disappointed with what appears to be poor quality leather in conditions that were hardly demanding. Shoe trees may have helped the toes by cutting down creasing but there's no excuse for the leather to come apart at the heel.

They come in UK sizes, not US sizes & I got a UK size 11, not exactly comparable to a US size 10.5, but I love it! The design is amazing! Told my European Facebook friends all about these sweet shoes!

These are awesome boots! I like the brand for quite a long time and they are my first brand new ones. It really takes time to get them fit your feet, but then they feel so natural and comfortable.

I have been wearing these specific Dr. Martin boots for over 20 years. They are incredibly comfortable, perfect for wherever you are walking/going and last a long time. Even if you are as hard on them as I am. The last pair I bought I have had with me when I have stayed in various hotels that offer complimentary professional shoe shining service and no matter how badly I have scuffed up the tips (that happens when you wear them when you are remodeling your home) they have come back the next morning looking nearly new. If you want stylish boots that will stay in style, comfortable no matter how long you are on your feet, and provide great ankle support these are the ones to choose!
