I have two pairs of these shoes. My black pair is still going strong and looking good after two years of almost daily use. The brown pair must be defective. The souls of these shoes are cracked clear through after less than one year of occasional use. Avoid the brown shoes!

the sole cracked all the way through after a short period of time, making the shoe un-repairable. Not good at all Long time customer, first real problem

Lousy Leather - Extremely comfortable shoe. Looks great. However, do not buy the Florsheim. I normally wear Nunn Bush with the same cushioned sole but could not find brown in any of the stores (subsequently discovered Zappos). So I bought a pair of Brown Florsheim Riva at a major national retailer. The leather upper on this shoe peels as if it were thin vinyl, if you brush it against anything. Within two weeks of ownership, I was astonished at two distinct rips in the leather on the right side above the heel. The leather was actually peeled back to reveal the white understructure, so I used some super glued to glue it back down to cover the extremely visible under layer. I did not recall hitting anything with my foot, so it had to be very incidental impact like brushing against a curb or similar situation. After this happened, I recalled buying a similar black Florsheim a couple years earlier and it had done the same thing. Shame on me for making the same mistake twice. I have worn Nunn Bush for up to two years before the soles wear out and have never had a leather rip or abrasion like the Florsheim. Incidentally, the fit on both are pretty identical and I have been wearing this style of show with the padded rubber soles for many many years, due to comfort. Can't stand most other dress shoes because you feel like you are wearing hard concrete for shoes.

IS THIS THE SAME SHOE? Received a pair of these the other day, and unlike most of the reviewers, I found them to be one of the worst shoes I had ever seen. The first shock was when I took them out of the box. Rather than quality leather, they looked like they were made of third rate pleather. Picture shows sole and heel, but it is some kind of hybrid which just adds to the shoe's ugliness. The "heel" portion is lower than it should be, leaving your spine at a very annoying angle. The inside is as bad as the outside, Footbed had no padding; so, it felt like you were walking on thin plywood. The strangest thing was that, while the left shoe was normal, the right shoe had a major defect. It kept wanting to twist your foot and ankle. The more uneven the surface, the more it felt as if you were walking on ball bearings. Super cheap looking, ugly as sin, painful and poorly made, don't buy at any price!
