the sperry line is great. i work on boats and put these shoes through the wringer. they take a lickin and keep on stickin. the fit is great and durability is even better. my billfish only sliped out from under me one time, and it wasn't on a deck. great shoes.

Sizing issue.
Got shoes delivered just as promised by Zappos. Only one problem... I usually wear a size 12M but these felt huge. Sent them back and am sure the 11 1/2 I ordered to replace them will be just right. Otherwise they looked great and are built very well just like most Sperry product.

Repair options.
My Dad loves these shoes. He has arthritis in his ankles and, of course, his feet swell some times. These are the only shoes that he likes and continues to purchase. He does wear out the heels unevenly and would like to know where he can take or send them for repair.

Great shoe but needs more sole!
This is my second pair. Despite a sole sewing defect (which prompted an exchange that Zappos handled wonderfully), these are very, very comfortable shoes. I did add some additional arch support which others may or may not need. My one wish is that Sperry could make these so that the soles can be replaced. This last comment is inspired by the fact that on my previous pair the soles wore out after two years of moderate use yet the upper part was still in fantastic condition.

A nice comfortable shoe -
I like that this shoe was available in a wide width. They are very comfortable and look great, too.

Fantastic wear and style -
The shoe is a little bigger than the size my husband wears, although he didn't mention it until he had worn them outside, making them un-returnable. I will order 1/2 size smaller next time.

Billfish -
This is a nice looking shoe and my second pair. This pair, however, is rubbing calluses on both heels. Bummer.

Great looking shoe -
I have a wide foot, and found this shoe just a bit narrow. But it's pretty comfortable overall and is great looking.

Comfortable, but doesn't wear well -
I love the look and feel of these shoes, but one of the heels wore through after only a few months' wear. Granted, I wear these shoes a lot during the spring and summer, but it should give you more wear for the price.

Review of shoe -
The shoe is attractive and my major reason for ordering from Zappos was the difficulty I had in finding a 13 1/2 size in area stores.

Size -
I wish they would use the size system 10 1/2 D.
Last time I bought 10 1/2 W. They were to short. So this time I bought 11 W. the length is okay, but the overall fit seems to be a little loose.

In retrospect...
I've been wearing them about two years now, and so far, these have been some of the best shoes for serious walking that I've ever had. They hardly show wear, and this is after two years of walking in forest trails, city streets and a slushy, gritty, salt-ridden Ithaca winter. The sole rubber is so solid, unlike the foamy rubbers popular nowadays, it won't absorb a drop of water and it wears better than anything on pavement and rocks. The sole pattern gives great grip. The leather is thick and protective, yet extremely flexible. The puffy cloth laces won't rub your fingers raw when tying them.
Best of all, the arch support is firmer and higher than any other shoe I own; it takes some getting used to, but I never get sore arches no matter how long I wear them.
There's just two problems with these shoes: The mesh panels admit water far too easily, so avoid deep puddles and waterlogged ground, and also the cushioning isn't so good, but with a flat Dr. Scholl's insert they're perfect.

A darn good shoe -
This is a good looking boating shoe. It's fit was true (I wear a wide) and it's comfortable. I've worn it in wet conditions but not boating and the sole did as well as I would expect a good boating shoe to do. I like 'em!

Heavy-duty moccasins, hah -
Excellent all-around casual shoe. I find the shock absorption insufficient in the toe, though. Also, the arches are quite high, but they look and fit good. They're surprisingly easy to slip on & off with the laces tied. Good for walking, hiking, or as an alternative to sneakers (except for basketball sneakers where you need ankle support). Good traction, high-quality stitching and good, thick leather. I would get them again, but in brown as the whites and tans look like sneakers.
I'd also recommend:
Sebago makes a similar style (the Clovehitch), which I have heard is very good.

poor construction.
they look great.
they feel great.
but I had to take them to the shoemaker after 10 days so he could re-sew the tongue which had come apart from the shoe. Poor construction for 90 bucks!
But I love the look and am getting another pair.

Sperry Top-Sider -
Great shoe. This is my second pair. Wore the first pair out. We have a 30' boat, and this is a life saver in wet conditions. Super comfortable with the famous Sperry sole that grips in all conditions.

Sperry Top-Sider Billfish -
I was an extremely loyal Sperry Topsider customer with several pairs .... a pair that I purchased in July 0f 2004 had a problem with the sole and heel delaminating... I sent the shoes back at my expense to Sperry as instructed by the 1-800 customer service representative to be either fixed or replaced as at the time of my call they were not a year old. Sperry tried to glue the sole and heel back together and then sent them back to me. The box was sent to them in early July and it arrived yesterday August 23, 2005 and as soon as I put the right shoe on it immediately delaminated again.
