This is meant to be a sound, favorable recommendation -
I am a user with a somewhat narrow point-of-view -- I suffered a stoke a few years ago. I am looking for a shoe that has a Velcro closure, since I am dealing with a bum arm. My source of options has been small -- walking shoes with Velcro. The Hush Puppy Gil was a pleasant change. It looked far, far better than the alternatives. It had two additional pluses for me: (1) the shoe is very light, and (2) the shoe has flexibility to take into account the size differences that stem from wearing a brace on one foot. A very good and comfortable shoe.

He LOVED them, and all the previous Reviews really helped me decide if these would be good for my Uber-active Father. one Problem : the "white" isnt really White, its kinda light Grey but Pbbbtt :P the Comfort Level is Way more important-according to my Daddy. yay!

These are some really nice fitting shoes. I work at a Country Club and am on my feet for 13 hours straight. These shoes have the support I need. Sadly, as with most shoes size 15 they are fairly unattractive. Comfort and an affordable price made them worth the purchase.

I have the medical condition of "foot-drop" and need to wear "Richie Dynamic Brace" on my left foot. To do so I need to order a pair of shoes that is one size larger than normal - to fit the left brace, then adjust the right shoe with an insole-insert. All of this necessitates the Velcro closure. I have several different styles of shoes but these Hush Puppies are Perfect for my needs and purposes. Bill.

Had to write a review on these shoes. My dad is recovering from brain surgery and needed shoes that he could put on without using his left hand. These work! Easily the best of 3 pairs we tried. Brain surgery is very much like suffering a traumatic brain injury and he is having to relearn many things. These give him independence and brought a smile to his face.

I bought these for my Dad, who is 88 years old and blind and wanted something with velcro. He loves them and wears them all the time. He says they fit and feel great. I bought these shoes in his regular size 10 and there was no adjustment period. So, great!

I have purchased 100s of shoes in my 57 years but these are absolutely the best, period. I have been wearing them for over a month and they are my favorite footwear. As for Zappos service, two days shipping, I was surprised when the delivery truck arrived,but very happy to get my knew Hush Puppies. I am diabetic, suffer severe back pain and weigh over 400 pounds so it is sure nice to finally find a comfortable shoe that is easy to get on. Thanx Zappos.

I took a chance and ordered these shoes for my elderly father who has arthritis in his toes as well as bad hips. He needs a shoe that is easy to get on and is soft (his generation often wore those shiny stiff dress shoes). He loves these shoes and says they are extremely comfortable all the way around.

I bought these shoes purely because of comfort. I get teased by fellow co-workers and friends that they are my old man shoes. Even though I get teased, the shoes are worth it anyway. The are like wearing slippers, but better because they allow for lateral movement, too. For the record, I am a young man, and there is a reason why old people are smarter, because they know a comfortable pair of shoes!

this is my first try at ordering shoes from Zappos and I was skeptical because of bad deals from other mail order places, but, I wanted some shoes with velcro straps and Zappos had them, I wear a 12 1/2 but they had no half size that big, so I ordered a 13, they came and way to big, sent them back and ordered a pair of 12\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s, had to wait a few days for that size to become available, but they came via UPS and they fit very well, the shoes are Hush Puppies and I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'m very pleased with how comfortable they are, also very pleased with Zappos return policy ,it is FREE. I am disabled and this shoe was exactly what I was looking for. I needed a shoe with a velcro closure that didn't look clunky. It looks great and is soft and comfortable to wear. It's much lighter than it looks with a sole that allows me to slide my feet without sticking. It is true to size and width and the velcro closure has plenty of room to allow for when my feet are swollen. I would highly recommend this shoe for it's convenience, comfort and great looks.

My older brother has had a stroke and tying his shoes, especially on his right foot is difficult. These shoes are absolutely perfect! My dear 82 y.o. Dad has new onset Parkinson's disease and has recently had a stroke. He liked this shoe SO much I ordered a second pair.
