My original order was size 8M, my usual size; right boot perfect fit, left boot wouldn't go on my foot. Second order size 8 1/2M; right boot good fit, left boot too big. Sorry couldn't find pair which fit. I love the boot.

Oh my gosh I love these but the circumference is ridiculously way too large! I want these so much but I am a size 5 which, in the foot, fits like a glove (Frey doesn't normally have size 5), but the calf size is ridiculous. I could fit my other calf inside this. I am so disappointed, as I have waited so long for them to come in size 5's. I almost want to keep them and not wear them, as they are such good boots. Have I gone wrong somewhere? I've read reviews where people say the calf is too skinny but this is just not the case. It's way too big and I am so sad.

I have wanted a pair of Freye Harness boots since forever! I finally took the plunge only to be disappointed. The pair I received looked like an odd pairing. One boot shaft was much much lighter in color than the other. I instantly knew I would be sending them back for an exchange but went ahead to see about the fit. I am sorry to say that this boot is not for me. I have short legs which puts the widest part of calf at the top edge of the boot. They pulled up but only just. I wanted these boots have have room around the top so I could wear them with skinny jeans and also with tights and skirts. I'm sure with wear the leather would stretch out a bit and I did also think about having them professionally stretched but in the end I sent them back. I just couldn't take the risk that they wouldn't stretch out and then I would have paid a lot of money for a boot I wouldn't wear. I'm so very sad.

I had been lusting after these boots for years, and I had finally gotten my husband to get me them for Christmas. Yay! Well, when I opened the box, not so yay. One boot was noticeably larger than the other, in several different ways. The right boot was considerably wider across the toe, and the left boot was longer. Poor workmanship for what I had assumed to be a reputable company. Now, I have been wearing a size 10 for years, and these were a size 10, and they were too big. My heel kept slipping up. I knew this would cause a blister, and the left boot was too narrow across the toes due to a bunion surgery I had some years back (and also due to the left boot being narrower), so we sent them back for a 9-1/2. Box #2, size 9-1/2: Tried these on today, and guess what? My heel slips out the back! Now I've started thinking, are these made for men? Because I have quite a bit of room in the toe box also. There is no way I'm going back to a 9. The workmanship on these is better - at least these two are the same size (I'm a Virgo so you bet I inspect everything for symmetry!), but the shafts are not the same height, and inside one of the straps is sewn on crooked and not tacked all the way down. Even if they did fit better and I was to keep them, these things would bother me. Sadly, this pair will be going back too. I was hoping to wear them today to start breaking them in for SXSW (it's an Austin thing), but I guess I will try the Harley-Davidson Hustins that someone here mentioned. Thanks anyway, Zappos!

This review will be helpful for any lady who's got big feet that are narrow, and skinny calves. Got my first pair of Frye Boots as a Christmas present from my boyfriend. He read all the reviews and chose this style from all the positive feedback. He ordered me an 11 and in the Smoke Old Town. My initial response was that they looked big and clunky. I also wasn't a huge fan of the height it was sort of an awkward in the middle of the calf boot, which makes it unable to wear under boot cut jeans. The color was okay, but I wasn't nuts about it either. However I wanted a comfortable good quality boot so I tried to stay open minded. The 11 was huge everywhere. My entire foot, ankle and calf were swimming in them. Huge bummer, so I exchanged them for a 10. The 10 came the very next day (Zappos is awesome) and while the fit was better in my foot, my ankle was completely unsupported and my calf was swimming it the boot. I worried about the leather stretching more and that I would get rubs on the soles of my feet from all the sliding. Since there is no way I am going to fit in a 9.5, I am sadly going to have to try another style and or brand.

Based on most of the reviews, I ordered both a 7.5 and a 7. The 7.5 was huge and I could barely get my foot in the 7. Unfortunately, they both have to be returned. I think this just isn't the right style for my foot. They are really cute boots, if you find a pair that actually fits.

These are beautiful boots but have no give. It looks like a side zipper in the image. If you have very high arches you will not be able to get your foot in this boot. Had to return.

These boots are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, they didn't fit my "athletic" calves. I bought them in an 8.5 (I usually wear an 8), hoping they'd fit. If you're a bigger/muscular girl, you're probably going to be out of luck. They are gorgeous, though!

These boots were so so cool. The color was spot on. I tried on the left boot, it fit like a glove. The size was perfect, the leather warmed to my foot. The right boot would not go over my ankle. I wiggled, I stretched, I prayed. Nothing worked.

I have always wanted Frye boots, and once I scrounged enough money, I found these beauties in the distressed brown and fell completely in love. I read all the reviews (as not to waste my money) and decided to order half a size down. I'm normally an 8.5, so I went for the 8 figuring I would wear them with thinnish socks and tights. Once they arrived, I drooled over them for a while and marveled at their badass sexiness. When I slipped them onto my feet, I was impressed at how well they fit with just a little tug. But once I stood up, the reality hit me. These guys were far too narrow to stand in comfortably. They're heavy, yes. And stiff. Some breaking in might have worked but honestly it seemed like they would be way too painful to walk in. I really wanted to love them, but we were just weren't meant to be. I shipped them back and ordered some practically identical ones (Harley-Davidson Hustin) in an 8.5. Knowing Zappos they'll get here soon and I'm crossing my fingers that they are more comfortable!

I like the look of the boot and it seems to be made really well. The only thing is it is killing my baby toes and I\'ve been trying to wear thick socks to stretch it out but I still need to rest my feet for about a week or two after wearing these...

I had pined over these boots for 6 months before splurging on them as a Christmas present for myself. I am not one who buys shoes often and am typically quite frugal, but all the reviews convinced me about how "cool" I would feel, how comfortable the boots are, and how they would last for at least 10 years. I have admired the motorcycle boot look for some time, and I thought these shoes would be worth the investment. Sadly, they were not. I hardly ever wear them because they are so uncomfortable. They are tight and stiff and not at all conducive to walking much. Maybe for women who are accustomed to wearing extremely uncomfortable shoes (high heels), these are comfortable in comparison. In my case, none of my dress shoes exceed a 2" height, and are all stacked or wedge heels. I just cannot bring myself to wear shoes that make my feet hurt. When I dress casually, you will usually find me in soft, roomy shoes, often with a lug sole. The clunkiness of such shoes detract from the long length of my feet (I wear an 11), which is nice. However, the slim profile of these boots give me the "banana foot" look, which makes me self-conscious, and I do not at all feel "cool" when I see people checking out my highly conspicuous huge boots!

Any other uncomfortable brand of shoe would probably be good for people who liked these shoes.

Unfortunately, not for me - For a year now I've been lusting after finding myself a pair of Frye boots ... and unfortunately, this wasn't the one. The shaft height wasn't good, I have fuller calves and I felt silly and chunky if I tried these on with some of my skirts. Plus, the rectangular toe box was a little odd, and they were definitely almost a full size bigger than what I expected. I am determined to find the Frye's for me, though, cuz I love the brand!

Form, Fit, Function - Frye's Harness Boot was gorgeous and hot, but I felt like the ugly stepsister because I couldn't get it on my foot. Too tight at the instep. Otherwise - really great boot!

I have a love/hate relationship with these boots. I mean, they'e so cute and the quality is as good as it gets - but there's a big problem. I can't wear these boots, even for a quick walk down the block, without limping home with huge blisters on the back of my heels. I've used layers of moleskin, bandaids and those sticky, padded heel inserts but I still have this problem, so my pair spends most of its time in the closet.

These boots weren't made for walking... A well-made boot, but far too narrow in the forefoot... My foot isn't particularly wide and these boots were unwearable until I stretched them out a bit. Even after breaking in, the heel slips too much. Also, the leather is matte and not slightly shiny as shown in the picture.

Love these boots but they run 0.75" longer and a size narrower than older releases. Unfortunately, they don't make a 5W so I'm out of luck.

The boots look like frye harness boots but they were in a generic white box, not a zappos box and Amazon delivered them, with no tag at all and the white label on the inside wasn't there also the frye stamp under the heel looked different. I am not saying they are fake but... something felt off with them. They were too big anyway so I am returning.

I can't figure out sizing on these. The 9 is sloppy big on my feet, yet I can't get the 8.5 on (I gave up after like 10 minutes of trying). I tried several different pairs and different colors. Sadly, I guess these just aren't the boots for me. I wear a 9 in the Frye Carson style.

Very heavy boot, seemed designed for serious work. Not really a boot I’d wear in the city or around town. I’d wear it in the barn for sure.

The toebed was tight and the heel was too wide. My foot was slipping up out of the back when I walked. But my toes were squishes. Also very heavy.

This was so disappointing. They are gorgeous boots but they just did not fit. I tried my actual shoe size. That was too big. I tried half a size smaller, but that was tight around my feet and my heels still lifted too much.

I bought this boot four years ago and have only been able to wear them a few times. I usually wear a 7 and bought these in a 6.5. They're too big and huge in the calves and I have bigger than average calves. They also feel really heavy when walking in them. I love Frye boots but I'm not a fan of this pair.

I usually wear a 10 but was considering an 11 because I wanted to wear these with thick wool socks for winter. After reading all the reviews about the boots running large, I ordered them in a 10. How bizarre that everyone thinks they run large! I think they run a size small! I could get the left boot on but it took about 10 minutes straining to get the right boot on! It is not the length or width once my feet are in the boots (although that is uncomfortable) but the measurements of the shaft, ankle, footbed is like trying to move a couch around a corner. I assumed they would wear in so I kept them but they stayed uncomfortable for years. Once my feet were in, they were not too bad, but the anger and frustration putting them on in the morning kept me from ever wanting to wear them. I brought them to a professional to stretch, but he said they were such thick leather and solidly constructed that it would be very difficult to stretch them much. I ended up wearing them a few times and trading them to Buffalo Exchange.

These boots are gorgeous! I am so sad they will not work for me. They were ridiculous to put on and take off. I know that is part of the deal with cowboy boots, but just not for me. I am sure they would last a lifetime, the leather is perfect. I also found them to be very heavy.
