We're in a style moment for mid-calf harness boots, but these Fryes are timeless, too. The fashion mags show them with jeans and leggings tucked in or with short dresses and tights. I'm not young but can wear these well with tucked-in pants; the challenge was my AA width. But a pair of Dr Scholls gel insoles was the perfect solution, adding both support and a snugger fit. Now they're my go-to boots! I love the look and the fit.

My first pair of Frye boots! A girlfriend raves about them so I thought I'd give them a try - plus, I loved this style. When I first got them they felt tight in the toes, but are slowly breaking in. The heel also slipped a little bit, but with a heel insert they're okay. The leather is high quality and therefore stiffer than usual, but they are breaking in and I get a lot if compliments on them! They are a little pricey, but in my opinion it's a high quality product. You get what you pay for.

I found these boots to run about a 1/2 size too large. The shaft was also just a little too tight for my muscular calves, and then very large around the ankle. The fit was all wrong for my short and muscular legs, which is too bad, as I have coveted these boots for a while now. I would recommend the Harness or Engineer 8 for anyone with large calves or short legs.

I read many of the reviews before purchasing these boots. I wish I had listened better to them. Many of them advised to buy a 1/2 size smaller. My feet measure a 4.5, however since no one actually makes this size, I wear a size 5.0. I purchased these boots in a size 5.5, the smallest size available. They were at least one inch too long. They were huge and made my feet look very large. I absolutely loved the boots and hated calling Zappos to return them. I still wanted a pair of Frye boots, and the salesperson was a big help to locate a better boot to fit my small feet. I exchanged these boots for a Veronica Slouch and they fit great. So, if you wear a size 5.o, these are not the boots for you.

Half size smaller was great! They are starting to break in. Lots of room once you get them on. Struggle for a minute to slide your foot into them...but comfortable!

I love these boots but they are proving difficult to break in. I'm determined becuase I know they will last forever but don't plan on wearing them all the time right when you first get them. Also, the toe is narrow.

I normally wear a size 8-8 1/2 in Frye and an 8 1/2-9 in other brands. I ordered the 8 1/2 and they were way too big for me. Then I ordered the 8, and they still feel too large! These run very large; however, they have cushioning on the inside, so they are comfortable. The heel height is good too. Unfortunately for me, these are too masculine looking and do not fit me right. Oh well! The search continues.

For me these boots were tight across the width of my foot, and so loose in the heel, they felt like flip-flops. I really like the look of the boot, I wanted to keep them. I thought they would stretch in the width, but the looseness in the heel was worrisome. I love the look, feel and weight of these boots. I ordered a 6.5, and the length was right. Just wish they fit.

Nice boot, nice fit for long narrow foot. Unfortunately, way too big around the calf!

I really loved this boot but I have very narrow feet and even half a size down they were slipping on my heel,but I have other Frye boots and they are very high quality.

I like the how easy it is to slip the shoe on and off. The only issue is the width. I wore normal socks and it made my normal width feet feel like I was cramming them into a narrow shoe. I know leather flexes with wear, but they were painful to walk around the house in for less than an hour.

Very disappointing. A beautiful boot, but the color was more mottled than appeared in the photos and my big toe on my right foot was killing me when I tried them on. Couldn't even walk. Had to send them back.

These are great boots. Nice thick leather, fantastic quality. Sadly, too narrow for me. I have not had this problem with other brands, so thought it worth mentioning.

Loved these boots from afar for a long time and now I have them. Would have given them a 5 for comfort except that they are very stiff, which can be a problem around the ankle after wearing them all day. Hoping they soften up with time.

Good looking, but just too narrow for me. Usually wear between 8.5 and 9. Ordered a 9 and even the extra room in the toes didn't make up for the narrowness. I'm sure if they are worn in, they might turn out alright.

I love Frye boots. I have a pair of the 12R Harness in Dark Crazy Horse Brown Size 8 and I absolutely love them. I have had them for a couple of years and I know they will last me another 20. Last year I ordered the same boot (Harness 12R in Black size 8) and my feet were swimming in them. They also felt different than my brown boots. Anyways, flash forward to now and I just sent back a 7.5 I ordered the other day. The black boots do not fit the same way the brown ones do. Bummer. I need black boots. I might try the Frye Jane's in Black. Good luck!

I am still breaking in these boots, as they are narrower than expected for a medium width, but I absolutely love them and expect in time they'll fit like a glove.

Great boot. I wear a 7 1/2 and had to return to get a size 7 -- still a little big in the heel but thicker socks make a better fit.

I wanted to love these boots so much. I love the way the look -- on other people. These boots were just not me. Yes, they are super comfy but they made my feet look so big as the toe box is square. I wear a 9. So I exchanged them for the Frye Paige Tall Riding boot and now I'm super happy! Thanks Zappos!

I wanted so much to love this boot. It is gorgeous in person -- fantastic color, quality leather, looks and feels like the great boot it is. Unfortunately, I have high arches and tall feet, and it was almost impossible to get them on. Once they were on, the length and width felt right in my normal size, but it was too tight across the top inside of my foot, which made me feel like I was falling inwards every time I took a step. I am returning them with regret.

I have wanted a pair of Fryes for a few years and saw these in the brown crazy horse and fell in love! BTW Zappos has excellent super fast shipping so I got these boots before I could dream too much about getting them. I ordered them half a size smaller than normal as other posters said and they fit like a glove. I wore them all day on Saturday and my feet were hurting by the end of the day but I think I got a good deal of breaking in done. My feet are a little on the wide side as well so I figured that was why my poor toes got a bit pinched on the sides. Out of the box they have a worn look, but in a good way the leather is a very beautiful color. I have gotten compliments the three times I have worn them so far. Be warned it is a little narrow at the top of the foot so if you have very wide feet these would not be for you.

I normally wear a solid 8.5, but had to send them back to order a full size smaller. The Made-in-America quality is wonderful. The boots look terrific with a dress, jeans, or leggings. My feet are Flintstone wide, and the boots pinch my toes a bit, but I believe as they wear, these Harness boots will get softer and more comfortable.

I like many others, have eyed these for months and finally bit the bullet and bought them. I have high arches and wide (typically) size 8.5 feet. I ordered the 8, and although it took a good hard tug to get them on for the first time, they did fit quite well. My only concern is that there seems to be a LOT of room around the top of the boot, probably because I have bony legs, and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or this is just how this style of boot is? They look beautiful and great with jeans, but the extra space at the top makes me a little wary of wearing them with dresses.

These are really cute boots! They are a little stiff but I have only worn them once. I hope they will soften over time. I own five pair of Frye boots. I love them all! These boots run a little big. Order a half size down.
