These are really cute boots! They are a little stiff but I have only worn them once. I hope they will soften over time. I own five pair of Frye boots. I love them all! These boots run a little big. Order a half size down.

This was my first Zappos order, so now I know about this amazing business. I love Zappos -- really.\r\nThe Frye harness boots look great, and I\'ve only worn them twice, but they\'re very stiff, which means they\'re not all that comfortable. I think you have to break them in, which is pretty typical for a working boot that you want to last a long time. I really hope they will ultimately be more flexible because I love the way they look.

These boots look great! They are a bit on the heavy side but I believe that\'s to be expected. It stretches out slightly and conforms to your feet as you wear it out.\r\n\r\nI usually wear a 6.5 but had to go down to 5.5 - but I have narrow feet. Zappos was GREAT about me exchanging the boots twice, with overnight delivery!

I have to say I was torn as to whether or not to buy these boots because of some conflicting reviews. Here's my take on these boots. If your feet are pretty wide like mine, I would recommend buying the shoes true to size (rather than half a size down). The leather does stretch some. That being said I love these boots! They're very stylish and can be dressed up or dressed down. I only had 2 complaints: they were still a little big, length-wise, to accommodate my width and as a result my heels rubbed the boots on one side and I blistered horribly. Now that they've been broken in they're pretty comfortable and I don't have much trouble with blisters. The other complaint I have is how narrow the shaft of the boot is; I hate to say this but if you've got bigger than normal calves, I recommend finding a store to try them on or something to make sure they'll fit and fit well enough that you can wear something thicker than tights.

Beautiful shoes, the leather is gorgeous. I bought the tan version and I never thought leather could look so good. My only issue is that I'm concerned it looks too western with blue jeans, but my friends say I'm crazy to think that. Definitely go with the half size smaller that you usually go between, but they are meant to fit just a tad bit big.

Great boot! I have narrow feet, and I usually wear 8-8.5, but I have found that in general the Frye boots tend to run large. This is my second pair of Fryes, and I ended up getting a size 7 for this pair too. If you have a narrow foot, you are more likely to feel like you are slipping out of the boot if you only go a 1/2 size down. The forefoot area is just a touch too narrow, but I am hoping the boot will soften with time, and the fit should be perfect then.

Great boots, size way off. I read all the reviews about size, but decided after a couple of people's reviews swore they were true to size. The are not. I wear a 6.5 in all shoes. The 6.5 in this boot was huge! I mean huge. Thankfully Zappos is so awesome about returns and shipping. I decided to get the 5.5 and received them the next day. To my dismay, I can hardly get my foot into the boot, but once it's in, it's still too long (a good inch and half to the end of the boot from my big toe) and loose in the heel. They make my feet look more like a 7.5. No matter. I love these boots so much that I will deal with it.

Great boots, really sturdy and thick leather. They will last for years. Has a great non-slip sole. I love the fact that they were made in the USA!

Gonna try a larger size??? I have lusted for this boot for over two years so I decided to just order it. I was so excited when I did. I read all the reviews beforehand, as there were no stores in my area that sell this boot so that I could try it on prior to ordering from Zappos; GREAT website by the way. Almost every review stated that the boot felt larger than marked, so I ordered my normal size 7, thinking that I could take up any extra room with a thicker sock if need be. Well, the next day I was sooooo excited to wear my new boots when they were delivered but upon trying them on with a normal sock I could BARELY force my foot into them! I am a thin, petite girl, with narrow to normal width feet. But these were way too tight. They were also VERY stiff, which I assume that will soften and improve with wear. I am returning them for a full size larger; I pray that they will feel better so that I can keep them! As far as looks go, this is THE coolest looking boot. It was extremely tough looking and the quality of construction felt very durable. I ordered the dark brown ones. The leg opening seems like it will fit nicely under a normal cut jean leg, which was a plus for me also. I will update the review after I receive my size 8 pr.

My review about fit and size should save you a lot of time! I bought the Frye Harness 12R in Crazy Horse Brown which is a really fun distressed tan and dark brown, (more dark than light.) It is the perfect color for this style of boot! Anyhow, I am a size 10, and have foot problems now (after 25 years of wearing heels and shoes with no arch support -- and I have a high arch); so I was concerned about ordering a half size down (as almost all the reviewers and Frye themselves suggest). I bought my normal size. Even with a really thick wool sock, TOO BIG. If you buy them oversized and try to "fix it" with heavy socks, your feet and ankles won't have the support you could have/should have. I ordered another size 10, (again because I was so paranoid about tripping that nerve problem in the bottom of my feet, and toes...) this pair was even bigger. I finally got over my fear and ordered half size down to 9 1/2. PERFECT. There is only a small struggle to get them on, (high arch, remember) and once on, like I said, PERFECT. I could tell this is how they are meant to fit. Also, there is a nice squishy sole, (not really soft, but like memory foam, you'll see...) And the width is good, unlike a lot of shoes/boots with too narrow a foot bed. Hint: if you hold a show or boot bottom and compare it to the bottom of your foot, and your foot bottom is much bigger -- don't buy the shoes! You might pay with foot problems (like me) in the end! The only negatives I could state about this funky and classic boot: they are heavy. I am wondering if this will be tiring, wearing them all day. (I am older -- 51 years.) And two: even with wool socks, they are not that warm. But I live in Minnesota and have notoriously cold feet. I treated them with a non-darkening oil, and will try them again outside. Fashion-wise, they are very cool. Maybe they are the perfect fall into winter boot...but not a winter boot for Minnesota. (For that, try La Canadienne, Barbo, Aquatalia -- except Aquatalia has a very narrow foot bed and I had to return a smokin' pair of those, style was "Varsity.") Okay ladies, hope I have helped. DO NOT HESITATE TO ORDER A 1/2 SIZE DOWN BECAUSE THESE BOOTS RUN A 1/2 SIZE LARGE, WITHOUT FAIL! And if you are a shoe/boot/clothing horse, and on the funky side, (even preppy-funk), these boots are a must-have for your closet. They are definitely worth the price.

Nice looking shoe - This is a great looking boot. I wish the color was a bit more regular between the foot and shaft. They are definitely tight in the foot and ankle when you first start wearing them. I found them very difficult to get on and off in the beginning, as they stretch they get looser.

Good boot, but not real comfy - This boot runs a 1/2 size larger for sure. It is sooooo cute, but the leather is very hard and actually rubbed the side of one of my ankles raw because it is so stiff. I put thick socks with the boots, but still could not wear them very long. I am going to try to reshape them so they don't hurt!

Great pair of boots - Finally got my pair after several months of pondering. I normally wear a 7 but went with a half size smaller and they fit well. A little tight initially but compared to other boots I own, these fit well from the start. Had the tan pair for about 2 weeks or so and I can't wait until the weekend so I can wear them. Service from Zappos was great and would not hesitate to buy from them again.

I love these boots! I was settled on the Frye Harness 12R but undecided about the color. I ordered the dark crazy brown (something like that) and I'm glad I did. They turned out to be a lot lighter than expected, in areas, and the tan would have been too light. I consider my feet normal as far as foot arch and width is concerned. I ordered a 9.5 and I usually wear a 9 to 9.5 in heels, so I think these boots are pretty true to size. Heads up, they're incredibly uncomfortable off the bat because they're completely leather; no zippers or stretchy stuff to help you out. It took me 20 minutes to get them on, my boyfriend got a kick out of it.

My beautiful Frye boots! They are very well designed and the color is amazing. They are called dark brown (but the color is really more like a light brown distressed leather). The color is the best part of the boot. They look amazing on and feel pretty good, they just need to be broken in. There is a slight difference in height in the boots and I had never owned Frye boots before so I called Zappos and they offered to exchange them, but I love them too much to part with them. Zappos customer service was very helpful; I highly recommend them and have already bought something else from Zappos!

Good buy - The boots look great, but I wouldn't give them a 5 on comfort. It is not that they are uncomfortable, but they aren't as comfortable as other shoes.

Cute as... I have wanted a pair forever and they are as cute and sassy as I thought. I wear a 7-7.5 depending on width because I have wide feet. (Often I could wear a 6.5 if it was wide enough). I also have thick calves. I was really surprised at the fit. One of my feet is slightly smaller than the other, but that was the tight boot. Hmmm. They are narrow, but three days into having them, they are breaking in nicely. The shank is roomy, even for me, so if you have very slender legs, just be aware. I love them - they look great and are super comfortable now. I just suggest you know you might have to return for a different size because it doesn’t seem totally accurate. The other thing is the great shipping and customer service. I think Zappos is awesome.

Great boots! These are really nice looking, well made boots. I am a 9.5 and I ordered both 9.5 and 9. Though the 9's were tough getting on, once on they were a better fit than the 9.5's. The 9.5's were easier to get on, but once on a bit roomy inside. My heel especially slid around a lot. They are just a tad bit narrower than I'm used to, but not enough to make them uncomfortable. In the end, I decided I didn't like the way the heel slanted in, so I ordered the belted harness in a 9. I'm sure I'll be much happier. Though they are a little tough looking, I'm OK with that b/c I need boots I can walk in. I'm tired of my little pointy toed boots that I can't walk in. I guess I've gotten more practical as I've aged...hehe. In any case, these boots are great, as is Zappos who shipped out my replacement pair right away. I love Zappos. Good luck!

Wouldn’t recommend getting this boot a half size smaller - Love the look of this boot and ordered it over a year ago. I take a size 8 but ordered a 7.5 and regret it, didn't return them because I thought they would stretch out (they did not) now my last hope is that a cobbler can stretch them out for me. :(

Almost perfect, but not quite - The look is good, for sure, but the fit is funky. Getting your foot into the bed of the boot is a struggle; it's an easy go until you have to push your heel into the very unyielding back of the boot. Once in, the boot feels pretty comfy, as long as you don't have a wide foot. My toes are just a tad cramped, but my foot is average width. Still looking for the perfect clothes to accompany them.

Believe the reviews -- a tad on the large side - Loved these, but now have to invest in some thicker socks. Quite comfortable from the beginning.

Adorable, but strange arch - The construction of the arch is a little bit strange. I have moderately flat feet, and the insole has a small ridge where the heel transitions into the rest of the foot bed. It's not problematic, just a little odd. I love the way they look!

Too narrow for me - After trying I think seven other pairs of Frye boots in both women’s and men’s, I finally found a pair that fit. This wasn't it. I did have to order down a full size for length (as Frye recommends), but the width at the ball of the foot is torturously narrow. I don't normally have to wear wide sizes! I even tried the men's wide in this style and found it to run medium, but the calf was still too tight (oh yeah, the calf was also ridiculously tight on me). In the end, what worked was the men's 8R (shorter) in Gaucho (rather than black, which is what I had been trying). I found the different type of leather to make a big difference in comfort. Also, it's partly just a matter of finding the right pair. This is definitely a brand where two pairs of the "same" boot can feel very different.

Not the most comfortable boot... Very solid boot, hard-wearing (I hope) and the least chunky and workmanlike of all the Frye boots. But,hard to get on and then slips at sides of heel when walking. They are not too big, the size is right, just the width/fit at either side of the heel does not support properly. I am going to try putting a stick-on pad or something on either side to see if this stops my foot slipping up and down. Much smaller than usual size too. I am usually a 9.5 or 10, this boot is 8.5.
