I preferred something with more of a heel and less cowboy looking, so decided to go with a bootie instead. Also, being on the smaller side, these just seemed to bulky for me

I wanted boots like this since I was a young woman; they are gorgeous, sturdy, and very cool. Unfortunately, all I can do is stare at them. They are not really that comfortable and they are expensive and I don't think I can integrate them into my life style as I'd hoped. Sorry, but these go back. End of a fantasy for me.

I bought this boot for my wife last year. It's really a great boot. BUT, the people at Frye really need to be checked for color blindness. Their "grey" is most definitely NOT grey. It is a shade of brown with maybe a slight grey tint. So if your wife asks for grey boots she may be disappointed.

I've been thinking about buying this particular style of Frye boot for many years...I have several other styles of Frye boots...but typically leaned toward more "girly" styles, but I always eyed this boot when I saw other girls wear them, particularly with dresses! I finally bit the bullet and ordered a pair in the classic tan color. Got them tonight and have been wearing them around the house...and true to form, there is some heel slippage as is the case with most good quality cowboy style boot. Don't let that scare you...the leather is a bit thicker and sturdier than most other Frye boots...that just means hey will last forever! And to op it off, I am a bank teller and am on my feet for eight hours a day...not sure how these will fare due to the fact that they are a thicker leather...but I am determined to wear them to work tomorrow.

I love these boots. Normally wear a size 9 in most all shoes and boots but ordered a 8 1/2 due to other reviews. The length is perfect however even with my narrow/small volume foot I found these boots to be extremely narrow in the forefoot. Heal width just right. I'm in the process of trying various boot stretching ideas to make them a little more comfortable.

I really wanted to like these boots. I ordered them in the 8.5 so that I could wear them with socks. My left foot kept slipping out. I exchanged them for a size 8, and though my left foot no longer slipped, the calf circumference was just too big on me. I'm not sure if that's how they'er supposed to fit? Nice boots but just not for me. :/

Beautiful boot. But super heavy and will take a lot of time to break in. The leather is super thick, which is great if you want to wear them for the next 10 years. No doubt they will last a lifetime. I'm sending back because I don't want to invest that much time before they are comfortable. And the heels were slightly different from one another making for an unbalanced gait from heal to toe.

I recently purchased these boots in the tan color and I am very impressed with the quality and appearance of these boots. I agree with many of the other reviews in that this item does run large. I ordered down a half-size, but I think I could have went down a full size with no problem. They run a bit wide as well, both in the foot and calf, so there's definitely room for a thick pair of socks underneath. Other people have said that these boots are hard to get on & off, but I have not experienced that at all. They slip on & off just as easily as any other shoe. As far as comfort goes, these boots are very heavy and incredibly stiff when new. Right now I give them 3 stars for comfort, but I imagine they will get broken in with ample time and frequent wear. These are definitely made to last a lifetime -- no doubt about it. Bottom line: cute boots, excellent quality, built to last & well worth the money. However, size down and anticipate a lengthy "breaking in" process.

I ordered the Campus boot first, because I really don't like the harness. But the Campus was never going to fit my calves. I went up a half size and ordered this Harness, and boy am I glad. The height makes it fit just under my punter's calf. I have a C width foot, and this boot is very snug, but not painfully so. It is slowly stretching out to fit. Because I ordered my true size, rather than a half size down, the heel slips a lot, but not in a way that would create blisters. The best part of this boot is the heel! It has the walking heel that slightly narrows and keeps the boot from looking masculine. I have been told I look stylish while wearing this boot with my winter pea coat.

First, I want to thank Zappos for putting up with my neurotic buying and returning of Frye boots over the past couple months. I was determined to find the perfect pair and I did. There are so many beautiful Frye boots but for my first pair I thought it best to go with the classic and I am glad I did. First the Color, I got the Vintage Chocolate which almost look metallic in the online photo but they are not at all in person. They are a beautiful distressed leather and the perfect nuetral color brown w/ black undertones. I also like that the harness is a brushed gold and not shiny. Next the fit, although initially very stiff and almost uncomfortable they have broked in nicely after only a few wears. I sized down 1/2 size (which really is necessary) and my heel still slips but I am told this is common with Fryes. I am going to get some heel pads to hopefully resolve this because it is a little annoying as it pulls my socks down! Also love the rubber bottom for stability. This is what sold me on these versus other Fryes, the bottom! This is an investment and these boots will last FOREVER and with the classic design you can wear them FOREVER! Good Luck in your search. I would recommend these.

I've wanted these boots for over 6 months & finally ordered them on a Monday, and received them on a Wednesday. After breaking them in for a good 2 1/2 days I wore them to a concert that Friday and was EXTREMELY happy with how comfortable they were. I normally wear a straight size 9, but went with a 8 1/2 and it was perfect. the only downfall I found with them is after only wearing them out 3x's, the insole is in 2 parts and where the seam is causes rubs the heel the ball of your heel/arch area the wrong way so that it feels like your sock is constantly slipping into the arch or your foot. I contacted Zappos.com and they are sending me out a new pair because I feel that these are defective and i am really hoping that the new pair I receive will not have this problem.

I'm closer to a size 8 than an 8.5 but have boots in both sizes. I'm really glad I went with the 8 because they fit very true to size and are extremely comfortable. I do have to wear with thinner socks but I'm sure the 8.5 would be too big. The only thing I'm not pleased with is just after the first week wearing them I notices the stitches around the loops of the boots to pull them on have started to unravel. I am going to have to send back to Frye to repair. Luckily they have a life-time warranty. Overall, I love them and have gotten a lot of compliments.

I bought these thinking that there was a 30% chance I could get them on without a zipper. It was hard, but if I wear slinky socks it works. I love wearing them though. Once they're on they're comfortable and wide enough at the top to pull up over jeans and leggings. Easy to get on with tights. They're great boots, but it will take a long time to get them to the point I can wear them through airport security.

Love these boots and have wanted them for years! Order a half size down. I wear a size 8 shoe/8 1/2 running sneaker but found the size 7 1/2 boot fit me and my foot literally lifted out of the size 8. boot.

These boots are certainly well made and the quality is excellent. But they are not boots to wear all day. They are very heavy boots and your feet are so tired a few hours into wearing them your legs ache. They are stylish and trendy but the heaviness of the weight and the uncomfortable feel is not worth it to me.

I get compliments every time I where these boots. They go well with skinny jeans/cords or tights and a skirt. The square toe allows a wider foot and they are a very versatile "cowboy" boot style; you don't feel like you should be at a hoe-down at all.

These are true to size. But be aware that the leather is very thick and sturdy and more than likely you will have a killer time getting them on and off in the beginning until they stretch. I recommend using a plastic back instead of socks the first times so as to allow your foot to get in and out easily and help you while you stretch them out in the ankle area. They look great, the feel and texture are truly marvelous. The support afforded to the feet is really great. Once they are broken in, they are a pleasure to walk in.

A gorgeous boot! This boot is difficult to size and I just ordered a .5 size smaller. I hope the leather is as nice as these are. These are only going back because they are too big, despite being my size 8.5. So far these are the best looking boot I've seen from Zappos and I own lots of Frye boots from Zappos.

I love these boots. I bought them in a store, and the associate had me put a plastic bag on my foot before trying them on. They will be almost impossible to get on and off at first but will stretch in time as others have said. The tan goes well with just about anything. Those with large calves may have luck with this boot as I did.
