Love these boots! First pair of Frye boots and I'm already on the hunt for another pair. The leather is just beautiful and soft. I normally wear a size 7.5 and I ordered a 1/2 down based on reviews (well, I actually ordered the 7 and the 7.5). The reviews were right, 1/2 size down is perfect. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on...might need a little breaking in but nothing that made my feet hurt wearing them for the first time. If you want a pair of fabulous boots, you can't go wrong with a pair of boots from Fyre. :)

As suggested by several reviewers, I ordered these a half size smaller than what I generally wear. At first it was a tossup. They were a bit pinchy across the ball of the foot, rubbed my pinky toes and heels and hurt—not unbearably, but quite a lot—the first two or three times I wore them, and I considered sending them back for my usual size. I wore them without socks as suggested (there wasn't room for any, anyway), so I'm sure this added to the initial discomfort. Well, I'm glad I hung in there as they now fit like a glove and I can wear thin trouser socks with them. So far, aside from daily workday wear, they have taken me on a window shopping tour of downtown and then out for a night of dinner and dancing and felt fine doing so. If your foot is wide, you may want to go ahead and get your usual size, especially if you don't plan on living in them (like I do) because they won't get broken-in properly. I ordered the black and like them so much I'm considering another color as well—regardless I'm getting another pair of Fryes. The craftsmanship is amazing—nice thick leather that hasn't shown so much as a scuff (and I'm the kind of gal who will trip over lint in the floor) and the rubber soles still look brand new. My only—perhaps minor—complaint is that the inner footbed is lined with some sort of compressed foam (I'm guessing) that feels a bit slippery and unpleasant, but could easily be dealt with by an insert of some sort once the boots are broken-in enough to allow for the space needed to put one in or by wearing socks, of course. Right now it is winter so I am wearing them with boot cut jeans and skinny jeans and they look dynamite either way—I feel like a queen . . . out of my way, minions!—and can't wait to see what they look like in summer with cut-offs. I HIGHLY recommend these and hope you have as much fun with them as I do.

I have been clomping around in these boots for 7 years now since I stealing them out my mom's closet my senior year of high school. I have worn them around museums in New York City, on cobblestone streets in Rome, through slush piles in Rochester, through puddles in Philadelphia, hiking in the Adirondacks, and anywhere else that I might find myself. These are the best shoes I have ever owned. I have no idea what color they were when I first got them, they were a bit more distressed looking, but some coats of brown shoe polish has made them a deep brown color that I don't think I could duplicate if I tried. I have had the heels replaced 4 times, the leather reconditioned, and they still just keep coming back for more. The slight heel makes you feel a little sexy when you are walking around, and adds a barely noticeable boost when I am walking around. For a girl with sever hip problems, the rubber sole and firm footbed is ideal to support my unhappy joints. My biggest problem is that no boot I have ever purchased since finding these has ever compared! Nothing is as comfortable, as durable, or as good-looking as these boots are. They look great with jeans for when I am running errands, they look fabulous with a dress at a bar, and they look funky with a sweater and black pants when I am teaching. I have been trying to buy myself another pair of boots to alternate with these for everyday wear, and have failed. I think I am just going to buy another pair in a different color. I give up. You win, Frye. Nothing out there comes close.

I really love these shoes. They are super cute. They do fit a little tight as everyone has been saying, but if I wear thin socks they fit fine. If you like wearing thick socks then get half a size bigger than what you normally get, which is what I'll do for my next pair.

What can I say about a Frye boot? There are no words to describe the look, feel and quality. This is my 3rd pair of Fryes...yes, I am hooked! I had admired these for several months but didn't break down to buy until after Christmas...but so glad I finally did! Took them out of the box, put them on and wore them all day to work. Had tons of compliments. Perfect with skinnies, leggings, dresses, jeans -- your whole wardrobe. Perfect height too. I am 5'2" and a 5.5. true to size. If you are debating on these, get them. You won't be sorry! And with Zappos free shipping and free returns, what have you got to lose? Zappos/Frye perfect combination!

This is a great work boot or everyday boot. The leather is great quality, it's soft and durable. I want a pair in every color!

First, kudos to Zappos for their excellent speed and service! These boots are awesome. I have them in the Dark Brown Crazy Horse and the color definitely varies from pair to pair. I usually wear a 7.5 but had to return for a 7 with these. The toe box is a bit tight at first but will stretch after a few wears. It is likely your heel will slip a little, but if they slip too much go a half size smaller. Make no mistake, this is a real boot, the leather is thick and the soles are heavy. They have a tough, kick-a$$ look to them. But they are classic and you will feel confident in them. These boots will get noticed!

These are awesome boots! I can wear them all day, and they go great with jeans, skirts, leggings. The 'tan' color is more like a medium chocolate color. The sizing is pretty true to size, I wear 7.5 in all Fryes, and the quality of this boot is great!

I got these boots for a Christmas present and everyone is so jealous. They are comfortable and will last for the long haul. Oh yeah and they are so cute!

I've been eyeing these for years. I'm normally a 7-7.5 and I ordered the 7.5. My heel does slip somewhat in them as others have mentioned, but it's not uncomfortable. My toes are not crowded and I can wear them all day without a problem. I got my first compliment on them within 4 hours of wearing them outside the house, and have continued to get compliments on them ever since. The boots are wonderfully warm, and versatile with many types of outfits. Expensive but worth the money.

Like many other, I have wanted these boots for a long time and finally treated myself to them. I love these boots! They are incredibly comfortable and look great with jeans, skirts and dresses. They are sturdy, and work great in the Michigan winter weather. I have only had them for 3 months, but already eyeing them in another color!

The boots arrived within 2 days, which was great! And then they looked exactly as I'd hoped and felt even better. They were true to size and very comfortable, very sturdy. I would definitely purchase more Frye boots and more shoes/boots from Zappos.

I'm reviewing these before I get a chance to really wear them because I just want anyone looking to order these to know to heed the warnings to order a half-size smaller than you usually wear! I usually wear an 8.5-9 so I ordered the 8.5 and they were too big. Zappos was incredibly generous with their exchange policy -- they sent me a size 8 while I still had the 8.5's at no charge so that I could compare! The 8's were definitely the better choice. I have bunions so they were a little uncomfortable at first but within minutes of walking around the house in them, it was like they just formed to my foot instantly. I have wanted them for years and now that I have them, I am looking forward to getting many years out of these boots!

Absolutely love this boot! I now have them in Tan, Navy,Smoke, and redwood. Hoping to get the Khaki one day. I get my normal size and wear medium thickness socks. If I were to order a 1/2 size down, like many recommend, the boot feels too short. My toes bang against the end of the boot. So I prefer my regular size and a slightly thicker sock. Perfect boots. Comfortable enough to wear for 18 hour days. Some days I actually dread having to take them off!

Zappos delivered 2 Christmas presents so quickly and the quality was exactly the same as if I had ordered from Neiman Marcus! I don't know how much I saved on my Uggs and my Fryes but it was a lot!

Love these boots. I have another pair I bought years ago and they still look great. They are comfortable and cute.

Love these boots. I've had them for about a year now. They look great and were comfortable right out of the box. I went on a long hike in the mud and rain last week, crossing creeks and slogging through mud and they performed very well - just rinsed them off when I got home and they were as good as new.

I saw these boots in NYC a week before Halloween. Husband and I wandered into a shoe store in the West Village, because he wanted to look for a pair of biker boots for himself. I saw the woman's model, and I immediately fell in love. The store had them in burnt red and plum, as well as the traditional black and brown shades. I decided that I wanted the red. Because Zappos doesn't carry the red, I purchased them from another vendor. I had to do a couple of in-person fittings of this boot and other models before finally determining which model/size worked best for me. Fortunately, I live near NYC and I was able to go to the SoHo Frye flagship store. I tried on the Harness 12R, Harness 15R, Carmen Harness Tall and Short. I ended up going for the Harness 12R after all, in the burnt red, which was the color I originally wanted. I usually wear a size 8.5, except in certain kinds of heels/pumps, in which I wear a size 8. When I tried the Harness 12R in the 8.5, the toe area felt good, but the heel area was way too loose. The 8 was a good snug fit in the heel, but with some minor pressure on the outside of the big and little toes. Since they are leather, and have a reputation for breaking in nicely, I went with the 8. The boots fit nicely, and they have now developed that "soft as butter" feel on my feet. I still feel the boot touching the outside of my toes, but it doesn't cause discomfort. It's more like a glove hugging my toes. They fit well with thin and medium thickness socks. I don't have enough room in them for a heavy winter sock, but I only wear that kind of sock with snow boots, not with regular fall/winter shoes. If I had bought the 8.5, I would need to be correcting the fit with orthotics or insoles. This is a classic and attractive boot. It looks great with straight-leg and bootcut jeans over them, as well as with skinny jeans/leggings inside them, or a miniskirt and tights. I haven't tried them with a more flowing skirt or dress yet, but even with the "non-neutral" red color, I can make them work with just about anything. I really wish Zappos had carried the full color array in this boot. I love the company and love giving them the business, but the color was non-negotiable for me. After wanting a pair of red boots for a decade, I wasn't going to compromise.

My new Frye's came today! I was very worried about the fit because I have done alot of research and everyone has been telling me to go down a half size. I did not do this. I wear a 9 and that is what I ordered! They fit perfect! I am guessing the ladies that go down a half size successfully may have a more narrow foot than mine. I have an average width foot. They are a little hard to put on at first so use the pull tabs! This is my fourth pair of Frye's and they become easier to put on and take off. They also break in very beautifully! Great workmanship!

I love these boots, I feel I will have them for a very long time. They are a little big, so order a 1/2 size down for sure, because the leather will stretch. Pricey but definitely worth the money!

I've had my boots for about a month now and absolutely LOVE them! I read the reviews and worried about what size to order. I went the half size smaller and it was the the right choice. I wear an 8.5 and went with the 8. They are perfectly snug and are starting to shape to my feet. Even though there isn't much padding, none near the toes, they are still really comfortable. I also worried because I have fat calves but they fit in the boot perfectly! Zappos also did an awesome job packing them and they arrived within a week.

I have been in the market for good everyday fashionable boots. I wanted a pair that will last me a very long time. After tons of research, picture searching and review reading I settled on the Frye harness 12R. I normally wear a size 7½-8 so I ordered a size 7½. These I wanted the smoke old town but all the store had was tan. I am very happy with the tan instead, they are the perfect shade especially after you treat them for waterproofing. I have been wearing these everyday for about a week now and love them so much. If I could wear these to bed I would. They are comfortable, still stiff being new but not too stiff that it hurts my feet. They are a bit pricey but once you wear them you will know why. I already love them so much that I plan on buying another pair next year in a different color. These boots feel as though they were a perfect fit for my foot. We order all of our shoes through Zappos because it is a great company. We have never had any problems and its crazy how fast Zappos gets the shoes delivered to you. I absolutely love these boots as well as Zappos!

These arrived today in Dark Brown Crazy Horse size 6½. Let me begin by saying they are gorgeous! The picture does not do the color justice at all. Unfortunately, they will be going back because while 6½ is my size in the Frye Engineer, it looks as though I will take a 6 in the Harness. I am normally a 7 in all other brands, so be aware if you are trying to choose a size. Zappos, as always, is the most awesome retailer in the world and I am expecting the smaller size to arrive any day now. Thank you!

I really like these shoes. I wore them and they were very comfortable. I had a pair of similar boots that I wore for 10+yrs. It was time to replace them. I'm very happy I did:)
