Opened the box and fell in love! Got them in Redwood. Put them on hated to take them off! They are gorgeous! I generally wear an 8 in Fryes and a 8.5 in regular shoes [Clarks, Born, etc. 8 1/2's. In Lucchese boots I wear a 7.5. Just for reference.] These fit great right out of the box, if I wanted to wear them without socks I could have gone a full size smaller. I like socks so 1/2 size smaller was just right for me.The color is gorgeous and the boots are so well made. They will last me for years! Love them! So cute with skinny jeans tucked in. Can't wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear them all the time!

I love these boots. I ordered my normal shoe size, a 7 and found them to be a little loose. I think with an insert and a thick sock they'll be perfect. These are great with boot cut jeans. I have big calves so I'm not sure they'll work with a skinny but we'll see. I love the color and everything about this boot. I also love Zappos. I ordered these boots Monday morning and had them by Tuesday afternoon before 3!

I usually wear a 10 but was considering an 11 because I wanted to wear these with thick wool socks for winter. After reading all the reviews about the boots running large, I ordered them in a 10. How bizarre that everyone thinks they run large! I think they run a size small! I could get the left boot on but it took about 10 minutes straining to get the right boot on! It is not the length or width once my feet are in the boots (although that is uncomfortable) but the measurements of the shaft, ankle, footbed is like trying to move a couch around a corner. I assumed they would wear in so I kept them but they stayed uncomfortable for years. Once my feet were in, they were not too bad, but the anger and frustration putting them on in the morning kept me from ever wanting to wear them. I brought them to a professional to stretch, but he said they were such thick leather and solidly constructed that it would be very difficult to stretch them much. I ended up wearing them a few times and trading them to Buffalo Exchange.

These are my new favorite boots! They fit true to size. I have slightly wide feet, so it took a few wears to break in but they are super cute and comfortable. They also fit really well on my calves. I have normal size calves, sometimes I find boots either too big or small on my calves but these are perfect!

I absolutely love my Frye boots! I have looked at these for a long time. My family bought them for me for my birthday. I wear in between an 8½ and 9, the 8½ fit perfectly. Not too tight anywhere. No break in time at all! It has been a long time since I have worn boots. I put these boots on and wore them all day, so comfortable. Very good looking, soft, well made boots. Of course Zappos is always the best!

These boots are certainly well made and the quality is excellent. But they are not boots to wear all day. They are very heavy boots and your feet are so tired a few hours into wearing them your legs ache. They are stylish and trendy but the heaviness of the weight and the uncomfortable feel is not worth it to me.

These are gorgeous! Love the vintage, antique look. Great fashion piece and just so nice! I went down a full size and half down if that helps.

I can't decide if I love these. The leather is very thick, they are great quality. I wear 10.5 and since they do not sell that size I first ordered 10...my feet went numb. Way too small. So I ordered and 11. They are way too big now. Maybe if they fit better I would like them better. I put insoles in but they are just not that comfortable. Very narrow toe, looks a little funny actually. They are a great quality and a lower price for Frye boots. I own four pairs of Frye boots and I'd say they are my third favorite. I'm keeping them because I do like them and I think they will get cuter as they age...just not sure I'd say love. I ordered tan and it is a perfect color.

The Frye Harness 12R's are pretty much the coolest boots I can imagine. I think I have the worst feet for them though - wide with bunions and narrow ankles. I normally wear an 8.5-9 and went with the 9 in these due to the narrow width. I can understand why so many reviewers were able to size down because this boot is quite long, but if you have wide feet you will probably have to stick with your regular size and deal with the extra length. I also have some pretty noticeable heel slippage but I don't mind much because these boots are so cool and unique. There is enough room in them for some thin insoles but my thicker orthotics are too tight of a fit. These are also quite heavy but not in a bad way; just different from what I am used to. I get compliments on them from both women and men (men never notice anything but they notice these boots!). I have them in tan and use Frye's weatherproofing spray on them; it makes the color very rich and moisturizers the leather to keep them looking good. I've had these boots for about 5 years and haven't had any problems with them yet. I highly recommend them; they are both a fashion and utility boot, they're reasonably priced for Frye's and they're probably the best quality boot that Frye offers.

I am an 8½W. I decided to buy these in an 8½ and see how they fit. They pinched my pinkie toe. Not good. I returned them, ordered the 9. 9 slips a little in the heel, but is a better width for me. The 9 was comfortable right away. The 8½ was not. If you are doubting if you should size up or not them I say yes. These should be comfortable, not pinching toes. I absolutely love the look of these boots. They fit great over or under jeans.

I admired these boots for ages before finally taking the plunge and purchasing them last autumn. They are definitely high quality-- the leather is gorgeous and supple, and they look fantastic. However, six months later, ultimately I'm a tad disappointed. First off, as many have noted, they run big. I'm basically always a 9 but took an 8 1/2 in these. Secondly, they're immensely difficult to get on and off. Even after they're broken in, getting your foot into these involves significant struggle and twisting... sometimes I find myself choosing to wear other shoes just because I don't feel like dealing with ten minutes of writhing to get my feet into these! More frustratingly, I'm fairly convinced the heel on my left boot is slightly shorter than the heel on my right boot, which is an aggravating quality control issue. It's not awful, but definitely noticeable, especially when I'm walking on hard surfaces like concrete. The thing that's most kept me from loving these, though, is the rubbing at the heel. Even after breaking them in, I absolutely CANNOT wear these for any length of time without my heels getting rubbed raw... even under socks. This isn't after walking miles, either, but fairly short distances. So, while I love the look of these, after six months I'm just lukewarm on them. Put it this way: when I'm grabbing a pair of boots to wear, these are pretty much the last ones I pick, both because of the struggle of getting them on AND the fact that I know I'll end the day with nasty blisters on my heels.

This is my 3rd pair of Frye's, the only boot I'll wear; my first pair is at least ten years old and I wear them daily, working/riding horses, doing the barn chores, and they brush right off to go to work at the office. The Harness 12R's just arrived, way ahead of schedule, fit perfectly right of the box, and are ready to wear all day. For you other Plus size ladies, the size 10 fits my 16.5 inch calf with plenty of room to tuck in my not-so-skinny jeans. Zappos service was excellent as always.

After trying numerous pairs of the Dark Brown Crazy Horse size 6, I finally found the perfect pair for me! There was quite a difference in color between all the boots, but the color of the pair I kept is fabulous - kind of a golden tan with dark variations on the shaft. It also fit best. It was the tightest to get on - I had to use plastic bags to get my narrow feet in - but once on and wearing them for a few hours, the leather stretched and now they fit my feet like a glove. I love wearing them! They are kind of tough, yet kind of sexy! Thanks, Zappos, for fantastic service as usual!

Love these boots! First pair of Frye boots and I'm already on the hunt for another pair. The leather is just beautiful and soft. I normally wear a size 7.5 and I ordered a 1/2 down based on reviews (well, I actually ordered the 7 and the 7.5). The reviews were right, 1/2 size down is perfect. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on...might need a little breaking in but nothing that made my feet hurt wearing them for the first time. If you want a pair of fabulous boots, you can't go wrong with a pair of boots from Fyre. :)

As suggested by several reviewers, I ordered these a half size smaller than what I generally wear. At first it was a tossup. They were a bit pinchy across the ball of the foot, rubbed my pinky toes and heels and hurt—not unbearably, but quite a lot—the first two or three times I wore them, and I considered sending them back for my usual size. I wore them without socks as suggested (there wasn't room for any, anyway), so I'm sure this added to the initial discomfort. Well, I'm glad I hung in there as they now fit like a glove and I can wear thin trouser socks with them. So far, aside from daily workday wear, they have taken me on a window shopping tour of downtown and then out for a night of dinner and dancing and felt fine doing so. If your foot is wide, you may want to go ahead and get your usual size, especially if you don't plan on living in them (like I do) because they won't get broken-in properly. I ordered the black and like them so much I'm considering another color as well—regardless I'm getting another pair of Fryes. The craftsmanship is amazing—nice thick leather that hasn't shown so much as a scuff (and I'm the kind of gal who will trip over lint in the floor) and the rubber soles still look brand new. My only—perhaps minor—complaint is that the inner footbed is lined with some sort of compressed foam (I'm guessing) that feels a bit slippery and unpleasant, but could easily be dealt with by an insert of some sort once the boots are broken-in enough to allow for the space needed to put one in or by wearing socks, of course. Right now it is winter so I am wearing them with boot cut jeans and skinny jeans and they look dynamite either way—I feel like a queen . . . out of my way, minions!—and can't wait to see what they look like in summer with cut-offs. I HIGHLY recommend these and hope you have as much fun with them as I do.

I have been clomping around in these boots for 7 years now since I stealing them out my mom's closet my senior year of high school. I have worn them around museums in New York City, on cobblestone streets in Rome, through slush piles in Rochester, through puddles in Philadelphia, hiking in the Adirondacks, and anywhere else that I might find myself. These are the best shoes I have ever owned. I have no idea what color they were when I first got them, they were a bit more distressed looking, but some coats of brown shoe polish has made them a deep brown color that I don't think I could duplicate if I tried. I have had the heels replaced 4 times, the leather reconditioned, and they still just keep coming back for more. The slight heel makes you feel a little sexy when you are walking around, and adds a barely noticeable boost when I am walking around. For a girl with sever hip problems, the rubber sole and firm footbed is ideal to support my unhappy joints. My biggest problem is that no boot I have ever purchased since finding these has ever compared! Nothing is as comfortable, as durable, or as good-looking as these boots are. They look great with jeans for when I am running errands, they look fabulous with a dress at a bar, and they look funky with a sweater and black pants when I am teaching. I have been trying to buy myself another pair of boots to alternate with these for everyday wear, and have failed. I think I am just going to buy another pair in a different color. I give up. You win, Frye. Nothing out there comes close.

I really love these shoes. They are super cute. They do fit a little tight as everyone has been saying, but if I wear thin socks they fit fine. If you like wearing thick socks then get half a size bigger than what you normally get, which is what I'll do for my next pair.

I always order 1/2 size smaller in Frye's like most everyone else & so far that has worked for me with this style & others. I really wanted the Dark Brown Crazy Horse, but the first pair I ordered were noticeably mismatched. I'd expect some variation, but these were different enough to return them reluctantly. However, the color matched the online picture very well. The next 2 pair I ordered didn't look at all like the same color as the first pair - they were darker & duller, a different color altogether, looked more like the Tan than the Dark Brown. Really didn't like them, so back they went, too. Another reviewer also noted the wide variations in this color. I've ordered the Smoke & Chocolate vintage and hopefully one of those will work. The only other comment I'd make is that I wish the shaft was a little narrower for us gals with slim calves - there's quite a gap at the top - which accounts for the 4 stars. Love the style & leather, so hoping I can find a pair that works. Love Zappos too!

I get compliments every time I where these boots. They go well with skinny jeans/cords or tights and a skirt. The square toe allows a wider foot and they are a very versatile "cowboy" boot style; you don't feel like you should be at a hoe-down at all.

The first pair I received were faulty - inner sole lining of one boot was not attached and you could see/feel the nails underneath. Zappos customer service was very prompt and awesome, getting me a replacement pair ASAP. So far I have not had any issues with wear and tear and think these boots are cool and I wear them at least 3 times a week. Not sure if I would buy the Frye brand again due to the initial quality control issues but am more than happy with Zappos.

What can I say about a Frye boot? There are no words to describe the look, feel and quality. This is my 3rd pair of Fryes...yes, I am hooked! I had admired these for several months but didn't break down to buy until after Christmas...but so glad I finally did! Took them out of the box, put them on and wore them all day to work. Had tons of compliments. Perfect with skinnies, leggings, dresses, jeans -- your whole wardrobe. Perfect height too. I am 5'2" and a 5.5. true to size. If you are debating on these, get them. You won't be sorry! And with Zappos free shipping and free returns, what have you got to lose? Zappos/Frye perfect combination!

I love these boots but after I had them for just over two years (two years and two months to be exact) the sole of one of them totally cracked in half. I take really good care of my boots (my husband is a veteran, polishes and conditions our boots every Sunday!) and only wear them during the winter, so they still look really new. I contacted the company and sent them photos and they said that it was "normal wear" for the sole to crack in half and they couldn't help me. For me, this cost is too much to spend on something that isn't going to last. Bogus.
