Alas, no. These adorable boots were to tight in the toe and slipped too much in the heel to be as practical as I hoped they would be. I loved the look, but I need something I can wear for long days.

Go 1/2 size DOWN! These shoes are amazing! I'm normally a size 7.5, sometimes an 8. I ordered a size 7 1/2, and wore them with socks on and they were a little loose. I returned them and got a 7. If you are choosing between two sizes, go with the smaller. Either way, you don't want these boots any bigger then they need to be! Otherwise, amazing boots!

Loved these boots... I LOVED these boots, but sadly could not keep them. These boots are not meant for those with high arches; they are nearly impossible to get on -- this is due to the thick strap across the top. It simply would never break in - I even took them to 2 different places to have the boots stretched to loosen them up. It didn't work. This was all in the span of 10 months, so I really did try to break them in. Thankfully, Zappos has an amazing return policy and I was still able to return them and get my $$ back, although I would have much rather kept them and enjoyed wearing them for the next 20 years! What a fantastic looking boot. Just beware, they are not meant for every type of foot.

Well-made and really cute; however my feet feel like they're swimming inside them! They feel too big, but they are actually pretty comfortable nonetheless.

Great boot... needs breaking in - I wanted this boot for a LONG time and finally took the plunge. They are beautifully made and well worth the money. It's also great to still find something made in the USA! They do take some time and patience to break in, though. I found a long shoe horn (as well as the loose sock the other reviewer recommended) to be quite helpful. Once you get them on they're very comfortable and I wore them all day long the first time out of the box. After about 5 wearings I'm getting them on much easier and don't need the shoe horn. Patience pays off. They're beautiful and will last for years and years. I've worn them to work with khakis as well as out at night with a denim skirt. I love them!

Cute, cute, cute - The price scared me a little (it is a lot of money to spend on one pair of shoes)... a little tough to first get on but look very cute with jeans and skirts... need to break them in a bit but I have that problem with all boots no matter the brand... only part that bothers me and needs the most breaking in is where the strap comes across my ankle... but I definitely would recommend these boots especially for people like me who commute and want a cool but comfortable, all weather boot and who don't want to be bothered with high heels...

Cool boots - I own two pairs of the Frye harness boots. These are slightly wider in the ball of the foot than the harness boots, but also slightly shorter. The leather is very stiff and will take awhile to break in. I wear them in Up State New York weather which can be slushy etc. and they're perfect. They just look better and better with wear. Make sure to clean and mink oil them, and you'll have great boots for years to come.

Frye Engineer 12R - I love these boots, they look great with long and short skirts and under jeans. I bought a half size larger so I could wear socks underneath, this may not be necessary as there is some slippage in the heel. There is a scratchy something at the back of the calf - it looks like they might have melted some thread so it wouldn't fray? On bare skin this bit is uncomfortable, with socks it isn't noticeable, but I saw that it abraded my tights. I tend to have to break in all my shoes/boots and these are no exception. Overall though, I would recommend these boots.

This is the third pair of Fryes I've bought that have ridiculously high vamps. I can hardly get my foot inside them, and for this pair I actually sized up because of the other reviews. My last two pairs took a year (!) to break in enough to get them on without throwing my back out. What gives? I don't think I have a very high instep, and I can't even get these on with bags on (which really isn't a solution). Once they're on they seem comfortable enough but I can't keep breaking a sweat putting my darn boots on in the morning!

First time wearing them, they transfer the color on my favorite pink socks. Feel uncomfortable weird around the right ankle. Not recommend if you prefer comfortable boots.

Tight at the ankle, unable to get boots on even after 3 tries & with thin socks. Lack of boot straps made it even harder. Read that this is typical of Frye, maybe 1/2 size larger would help

I save tons for this boots, because I really like the look. But I do not love them because they are the hardest boots to get in and out. I have a pretty normal feel and I never have issues trying on shoes. This shoes are hard and I thought that they will get softer after some use "no", 5 months later they are still a pain to put in and get out. The leather feel more like rubber and like I say before they are not getting any more comfy or softer. I only gave them 3 starts because I feel that a shoe this expensive should deliver more than just durability. This shoes really belong to some motorcycle chick or someone who needs a extremely durable and protective shoe for work.

I'd had my eye on these for ages and finally caved. Unfortunately, when I received them, one of the boots was significantly lower quality than the other (it gave me a blister on my calf through winter socks). Zappos was incredible with the exchange, immediately sending a replacement. Thankfully, Zappos didn't wait for me to send the original pair back, since the one of the replacement boots was also atrocious! Luckily, between the two pairs, there was a good left foot and a good right foot, so the shoddy pair was returned. I had always thought Frye was a reliable, quality conscious band, so I was shocked that both pairs of boots I received were faulty.

I ordered them yesterday and got them today, thank you, Zappos. They look good, however I couldn't put them on with a sock. Once I managed to get my feet into them with a thin stocking they were a bit large. They feel like they ran size big. Going to have to return them and try another style, shame, because they look really nice.

UPDATE: Sorry, but these boots are going back. The leather is WAY too stiff. I tried to break them in wearing them around the house, but after 5 or 6 times bruising my foot just getting them on, I couldn't stand it anymore.

Good looking, well made boots but they hurt! These boots have a nice look and they are sturdy. But the top of my metatarsals in one foot are killing me.

This is a beautiful looking boot and very well made. I have been eyeing them for a while but balked at the price. Finally got them and they are the most uncomfortable boot I have ever tried on. I get that there is a break-in period for boots like this but I found them impossible just to wear around the room. There is this ridge that juts into your heel. So sad. I had high hopes. Expected so much more for the price and the reputation

I wanted to love these boots!! I just couldn't do it. They were so stiff and rubbed my heel and I knew if I walked around in them I'd end up with a blister. I love the color and the boot itself but I can't see spending so much on a boot that feels awful to wear. I feel horrible for writing this because I love the look..

Shaft too short, not 9 inches which is supposed to be the height for 12r women's engineer boot, scratched and looked like they have been worn.

I really love the look and feel of the boots but mine squeak and it feels like there's something loose between the insole and outer sole in the arch area. I'm currently in the process of sending them back so I can exchange them. I'll update my review once that has been completed.

Cute boot but too stiff for me and hard to put on. I have a few frye boots and have ordered many from zappos but these were not one of my favorites. Had to return.

I want to love these but they are too small! The left one I could barely get on, and there's a terrible pressure on the top of my foot. I found a Frye store in the city to try different styles but apparently Frye doesn't carry larger than an 11 (which feels smaller), and nothing any wider. Truly disappointed.

I really wanted to love these boots! I love the style of these boots, but, wow, do they hurt! They are tough to put on, but manageable. These boots rubbed the tops of both of my feet at my ankles where the buckle leather crosses and at the top of the boot. I think the best way to describe them is that they are very constructed. The leather is not soft at all, the top of both boots rubbed both of my shins. I thought perhaps they would loosen up a bit, but after wearing them for a bit around my house, they were showing no signs that I would be able to tolerate them any time soon. I was not able to remove them without assistance, and even that was painful due to the highly inflexible leather buckle strap that crosses at the ankle. Comfort wise, these failed miserably. I currently own three other pair of Frye boots, which I love. I ordered in my regular Frye size.

Good-looking boots. Tested the boot when I received it. Walked across the living room and as I walked, the shaft would flip from left to right like it wasn't vertically aligned with my legs. Too bad it didn't fit properly. Returning.
