So...let me preface this review by saying that I never write product reviews. I also have to say that I own many pairs of boots from all different brands and of all different prices. But the moment I put these boots on I immediately knew they were worth every penny. Yes, the leather is tough and needs to be broken in, but they are so comfortable brand new! I will never buy a different brand of boots again (I may not have to every buy another pair of boots again anyway because there look like they are probably bomb-proof). Buy these! You will not regret it!

Received my boots today, thanks Zappos for super quick delivery, and like this style. The leather is a little stiff, but they feel like they will last forever. I got the Gaucho (brown) color and I really like this one. Nothing negative about this boot.

This is my second pair of Frye boots and I love them. I wear custom made orthotics because I have plantar fasciitis and was thrilled that these boots fit my orthotics and feel great. Since the orthotic lifts my foot a small amount, I feel the instep of the boot to be a little snug, but it is not painful or annoying. I do struggle with getting the boots on and off just as I did with my other pair of Fryes, especially the left boot. It seems that the thick piece of leather that structures the heel of the boot narrows considerably where it stitches into the boot shaft. I always have a hard time getting my heel passed that narrow point. I think that this is specific to this one boot since I do not have the same problem with my right boot, nor did I have the problem when I had tried on another pair in a store. I am not overly bothered by this and would rather struggle through the first few times I put them on and off than exchange them. Overall the boot feels like an 8½ with enough room to feel comfortable but not sloppy. The shaft width is perfect for my calf (no skinny chicken-legs here) so if you have a hard time zipping knee high boots up, do not worry about these at all! The leather is glorious and seems like it will last a lifetime, however the black dye does rub off my my legs! It is kind of funny seeing a grayish hue on my legs when I take the boots off. I wonder if that will ever stop...

As for MC boots these are by far the most comfortable and get better and softer with wear. Zappos is the best source for these hard to find MC's.

Purchased this pair of boots for my daughter. She loved them, they were true to size, and yes, they arrived the next day. They are fun and edgy, sporty enough for a college soph. Need I say more, Zappos rocks!

They run really big! At least a full size.

I love my engineer boots. They are the most comfortable boots ever. I could even wear them without socks and never get a blister. They have broken in really nicely. I love them with my jeans. I am very happy with my purchase. Although nothing surprises me about Zappos as it has always been great for me. Thanks!

These boots are awesome! My favorite pair of boots I've ever owned! They were immediately comfortable with a nice heavy pair of wool socks. I walk everywhere in them. I love to wear them with just below the knee skirts.

I love these. They're cool looking and very comfortable. I wear them with skinny jeans and boot socks -- roll the socks over on top of the boots. Looks really cute!

These boots are amazing! True to size; great fit; look terrific w/ jeans or skirt. Absolutely love them!

Had these going on 10 years now and I love them just as much as the first day. Survived a low speed MVA on my cycle with no abrasion or ijury to the feet or ankles as well. If only they came in a light tan, I'd order them in a flash.

I love these boots. They are sturdy, stylish, and comfortable right out of the box. They seem well built. I hope they will last for many years. I bought my usual size 5 1/2, but they were too tight so I exchanged for a 6. They are still too snug for thick hiking socks but are just fine with regular socks. The leather is thick and rather stiff but will soften with use.

I tried the Victoria Shortie first but couldn't quite get the right fit so I went with the similar engineer which worked better for me. I'm still amazed that a heavy boot like this was comfortable from the first wearing. Go Frye!

These boots look so tough and chic. The gradations in the color of the leather add character, and I'm sure they will age well. The style goes well with a surprising array of outfits. The only drawback is that they are heavy and because the soles are so substantial, it is difficult to drive in them. Still, they are timeless and beautiful boots.

True to size, but beware they are a little tight to get on the first few times.

I've had this pair of boots for over a year now and it just gets better with time. More comfortable and soft with wear. I plan on getting another pair.

I wanted these boots for the last 2 years so after reading many reviews I finally got them. So very happy I did! They are really great looking boots and I anticipate wearing them for many years to come. I will wear them with with everything from jeans to ride a motorcycle to dresses to go out for drinks in. I ordered my regular shoe size (9.5) and they are a great fit. I sometimes find that boots are tight on my calves but these are perfect. Like many people, I had a tough time getting one of the boots on initially and had to use a plastic bag and break them in. But after only a couple wears they feel great and I can only see them getting better.

This boot is absolute class. it instantly adds an edgy yet classic feel to all outfits. they ARE heavy duty, took a bit of wearing in to be able to drive properly in them. I recommend wearing socks that are high enough so as not to rub the back of your calf raw while breaking these beauties in. they are comfortable from the start. only problem i have is that the right one is a touch harder to put on and pull off. not too bothered by it though. get these, you won't regret it!

These boots rock! These are my first pair of Fryes and they are totally worth the price! I did not have to break these in. In fact I actually wore them around town the first day they arrived. I am normally half a size bigger in boots than pumps/flats/sneakers so I did order these a half size up, 9½. I initially almost ordered a 9 since some reviewers mentioned that Fryes generally are true to size and even run a little big at times. Although many also mentioned that it depends on the cut/style of the boot. These boots totally go with everything and being a woman with larger calves, these are perfect! They do not pinch or squeeze or leave marks like other boots sometimes do to me. And this is also my first Zappos experience and absolutely loved it!

I love these boots. I've had them for 2 years and they have held up well. They fit well, are comfortable (When traveling I've walked around New York City, Seattle, Portland, etc. - no foot pain, no blisters, all good!).

I love these boots! They look great and they are actually pretty comfy. I ordered in my standard size (usually an 8 to 8.5). I went 8.5 as the 8's were super tight on my legs. The 8.5 are a little loose but with bigger socks in the winter they'll be even better. With a standard sock they're even OK. I ordered 4 different pairs of Frye's before deciding on these and they're made in USA and of a really high quality. I can't wait to wear in the years to come!

Love this boot! On the down side, it ran about a half size too small (but I do have a wide foot with a high arch) and by the time I ordered the half size larger, the boot was out of stock. Not really surprising since it is the end of the season. I have bought the boot locally, (for more money) and love it! It is a very comfortable boot, and it has not taken long to break in. This feels like the kind of shoe that I will have and love forever. Frye makes a very good boot.

I really love these boots! Tried the Harness but they didn't flatter my short, wide feet like these did. I am typically a 7.5, which is what I ordered and they fit well. I could almost go down a 1/2 size, but with thick socks, they're great. Really comfortable and I am able to get in and out of them from the start - no trouble getting my feet into them. They look great with boot-cut or skinny jeans.

I usually wear a 7.5, sometimes 8 and I have sort of wide feet. I tried these in a 7.5 and they fit, but I wanted a little more wiggle room in the toe. So I got an 8 and it felt maybe even smaller than the 7.5, so I sent them back in exchange for another 8, which I now wear every day. Love them.

Classic Cool - Love these. As the years made my feet larger, I've outgrown my old ones and just ordered a new now-fit-me size. Don't care how old I get, wearing these with tights and a skirt in the winter are classic. And comfy. And make me feel great. Love Love Love them. Pricey and worth every freaking penny.
