Old School.
These shoes are awesome looking. They are a little uncomfortable because they have no support but they are old school and need to come back into style. I gave them a 4 mostly because they are cool.

sexiest sneaker on the market.
Evey since I was a child I thought you were the best if you had Chucks on. As I am older now (39) I feel they are very sexy sneakers. Growing up I wore Prokeds in blue until I come not find them and then I got Chucks and have loved ever since. One christmas I had that converse was in trouble $$ and CC so I bought 12 pairs of them and give out to 10 friends as gifts. I keep 2 pairs just incase they did go out of business. I still have a pair and they are from 1985, still in a box. I hope soon they come back big.

The best currently available, but not the best ever.
Tips for first-timers:
First, some history: the Chucks of the 60's were better than the Chucks of the 70's, which were better than the Chucks of the 80's, which were better than the Chuck's of the 90's. So if you want the best Chucks, you'll need big bucks. You'll have to buy vintage. And now that they've been bought by a Japanese firm & moved production to China, who knows. But with that in mind, here's some tips -
1) Pay no mind to Zappos' recommendation that you buy 'em 1/2 size small. Modern Chucks are narrow so you'll have to go large or they'll cramp your foot. That's why they'll make your feet look long & skinny. But don't worry, I like the look & so will you.
2) If you are going to just be walking & standing & sitting in them, they'll last you a very long time. However, at some point they will begin to wear out. Toward the end they will develop large holes in the canvas & the rubber parts will begin to tear. Finally you'll begin to doubt your human worth for continuing to wear them, and you'll throw them away & get new ones.
3) If you have a flat foot, you'll appreciate that the insoles are shaped like the Nevada Desert, not the Rocky Mountains.
4) They'll look & feel better when you break them in, so when you get them throw some dirt on the white parts. You feel better already?
5) As someone said, these shoes are not a fashion statement - they exist in a world beyond that wicked realm. Putting them on you will have a new-found sense that you are an intelligent person who can spot a good thing and use it wisely.

decent pair of rubber shoes.
the converse are pretty good shoes for just rubber and canvas slapped together, i ahve been wearing only cons since i was like 3, so i couldnt tell you if any other shoe is better. confort wise they are good untill like the 2 month mark, but hey, you have to wear em untill they have no soul left.

Great Shoes.
I think these shoes are really cool cause you can wear them with almost anything, but they're not the greatest shoe ever made. They hurt my feet a little, but that's okay cause they look good.

Happiness is a new pair of chucks.
Chucks are great. Not too durable and not too cheap (anymore), but otherwise wonderful. Mine get a lot of wear, but they wear well, so I...well, wear them. Climbing trees, rocks, mountains, staircases, playing soccer, running, etcetera. Oh, but they feel so Good. And fat people can wear chucks if they feel like it. Why the hell not? Fat peoples' chucks must last longer than mine too- they don't do all that stuff mentioned above. Converse must pay you people to write such rave reviews. (Maybe I could get a cut?) or maybe they just make great shoes.

Sole Food.
I'm a kid trapped in a rather old body. I've worn the hi-tops since I was a "real" kid back in the '50's. There's something about these shoes that transcends time and nourishes the spirit, (which is the part of you that never grows old if you don't allow it). 'Scuse the metaphysical stuff - this is just my own humble opinion.
Since the color selection is a bit limited, I always get White, buy a packet of RIT dye in my favorite color of the moment and "roll my own." I once made a pair in avocado green which became my lucky shoes. I wore them to all my exams in college, and even to a job interview. They looked great with my new suit, and I even got the job! (Of course, nobody really cares what a programmer looks like . . .).

Converse Rocks!
I heard recently that Converse was going out of business because people wern't buying their shoes. WHAT!!? Converse is the ultimate Amercian shoe. They rock! I'm keepin' mine so Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam can sign 'em. Anyone, who is debating buying this shoe or not, I say you should.

Old School Shoes.
I've been playing basketball for almost 10 years and I've never had a pair of shoes as good as the old school "Chuck Taylor Converse" basketball shoes. They're cheap, durable, and the best shoe for any real ball player!

I have worn All Stars for years and will continue to do so because I love the style, but the quality has definitely dropped off. I ordered my usual size and the left shoe was about .25" shorter than the right. This isn't the first time there have been inconsistencies with the construction. I'm exchanging for another pair and hope they don't have the same problem.

Didn’t fit as expected, ran large, & had a very odd curve as if someone with abnormal posture/gate had worn them in but that would be impossible because they were obviously brand new. So, I can only attribute that to less than stellar manufacturing. They were also pretty wide and I just felt odd trying to walk in them like I was constantly trying to catch my footing due to the odd shaping and large-ness.

Wow I guess I never wore these as a kid they were kind of for my brothers more. They are pretty thin soled and not comfortable, I couldn’t work in them all day. I like the way they look and that’s about it. I might try the platform version.

These fit "true to size," in that they fit as all Converse Chucks do, which is bigger than your street shoe size. I wear a size 10.5 generally and I ordered these in 9 and they fit as expected. If you're unfamiliar with Converse Chucks, drop a size. If you ARE familiar with them, order like always. They're pretty cool looking, but not nearly as beefy as I'm used to. Definitely a casual kick and not made for sports. Certainly not for basketball. You'd wear thru these things in a game or two.

The color did not match the product photo. Shoes appear to be light yellow, but are actually off white/bone color.

I have been wearing converse all stars since the '80s, and the same size since the '90s. These don't have the size on the bottom, the sole is slicker and, most importantly, they are at least a half size too big.

I know all about CT All Stars so I knew to size down. Plenty of room in the toe box. The issue was the width right before the toe cap. It NEVER broke in. Blisters on the widest part of my feet every time I wore them, which is saying something because I can almost get away with Narrow width shoes. It was just the oddest shape of any CT all star I’ve ever seen. Wondering if they were irregular. Bought pair of the “throwback” 1970’s CT all stars (not the same as these) and they’re awesome and supremely comfortable. Didn’t even alter the size I picked. Weird.

They’re converse so you can’t go wrong. Reason I didn’t give them five stars for overall is because I had to throw them away yesterday after only six months of use. The rubber sole wears fast on the heel, so much so, that the converse label disappears. Happens with all my converse shoes so probably the sole or how I walk in them.

I wanted to like these, I REALLY wanted to. They're the coolest ever. It's just that after almost a year of ownership, I STILL have not managed to break them in. The toe-box rubs VERY uncomfortably on the outside edge of both my feet, putting blisters there. I am going to try the 1970's ones and see if they're better. Good luck with these as they really are awesome looking! ALSO, I indicated they "felt a full size larger" because if I had bought my typical size, they WOULD have felt larger. Instead, I bought a size smaller, which is what everyone should do with these. The length was fine having done that. It was the width that hurt me.

These are the almost the only shoes that I have worn for like thirty-five years. I always wear the same size, which is a smaller size than I wear in other shoes. But because I wear these shoes all the time, it feels more like the *other* shoes are sized too big!
But in the last few years a real problem has emerged with these shoes. Lately the sole has been separating from the main part of the shoe (sorry I'm not a shoe technology expert!) on literally every single pair that I have owned. This has happened on literally every single pair that I've owned long before the tread goes bad or there are holes in the canvas or cracks in the rubber. I think they switched up the glue at some point in the last five to ten years. Whatever change they made, though, it has really taken its toll on the quality of the shoe. I regret to say that I can no longer recommend, and may not even continue to purchase, Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars.
