too much padding on the sole. Almost clunky.

I have been wearing Kayanos for a decade and they have consistently run small, crowding my long second toe. I learned to order a half size up. This series seems to have a new sizing format because they were huge in every dimension, both length and width to the point that they pulled my socks off while exercising. I guess it’s good that they corrected the sizing but it took me a couple wearings to figure it out and now I am hoping they are returnable. Luckily they have only ever been worn indoors.

The sole is too squishy and doesn’t provide enough back suppor

The ASICS now seem to lack the cushion support they used to have. It rubs on your instep and not comfortable. No longer going to order them- shame!

The sole of the shoe seemed too thick for my taste. I felt like I was walking on a mattress. I have worn ASICS before and found them comfortable but the trend of padding has gotten too much. One reason I ordered this pair was the styling of the sole on the outside of the shoes. Part of the side of the sole was white so visually it didn’t look too thick but on the right shoe the color was gray. Even though it wasn’t the main color of the sole it did not disappear into the fabric of the shoe, which was white.

The fit was significantly more snug and narrower in the toe box than the Asics Gel Kayano 30 that I've really enjoyed wearing for 1+ yrs. Because I wear an orthotic, the snugness is magnified. I like more room for my toes. I decided to return these and get the Gel Kayano 31, which supposedly fits more like the Gel Kayano 30.

I am so disappointed with these shoes. I can tell they have been worn and are dirty. Needed these for an upcoming trip but won’t have them. Zappos, shame on you for sending this product. I am trying to do a return but site isn’t very user friendly. This is not my usual experience with this company.
