These are terrible! These are the worst shoes that have I ever owned. They ran way narrow - my feet are killing me after half a day. And the noise - are you kidding me?! Nike and anyone selling these shoes should be embarrassed. I do not even plan to keep them around for yard work.

I am very conflicted with this shoe. They are, by far, the most comfortable shoes I've worn. They look nice, too. But the noise is absolutely insane. They make an awful squeeking noise on every surface including concrete, grass, carpet, wood, clay, aluminum, dirt, asphalt, gravel, and bamboo. Really, really noisy.

These shoes are horrible. The size is about .5 too small and they are just uncomfortable as can be. Set the money you were going to spend on fire and at least get some heat out of it.

The sneaker's design has changed. The tongue is now sewed closer to the front of the shoe and poorly, so that a chuck of material sticks down, right on my little toe. Very, very uncomfortable. Can't wear them this way. This is really too bad as I have been buying this sneaker for 20 years.

After owning an excellent pair of New Balance 609 shoes but then reading bad reviews of new ones (608's) I decided to try a different brand. These Nikes did not fit me very well at all, mostly because the heel cup is shorter and doesn't go up the back of my heel far enough or hold it snugly enough so ended up with bad blister after wearing for 45 minutes. There is also very little arch support and the top of the shoe isn't big enough to lace the shoe up tight enough without having the laces too tight across the top of my foot. Worthless. Went back to New Balance and while not as good as my older ones they worked much better than these.

I solved the squeaky problem by running the shoe laces from an over(the way they are packaged) to an under pattern. Starting from the front(toe) you go under in and out the first hole and then follow all the way up. The squeaks totally disappeared. I am surprised no one thought of this before?

Very squeaky shoe. Walk a great deal around various schools buildings and shoes squeak on tile and on carpet and pretty much any surface.

The shoes look and feel great! But after a week they started to squeak and by the end of the month they squeak so bad people look at me funny. It don't matter if I'm on asphalt, concrete, hard wood or even CARPET! the squeak is between the foot bed and the sole of the shoe. don't think I will ever buy cheep Nikes again...

These are very comfortable shoes. But they make a very annoying squeaking sound when I walk on any surface. They squeak and creak so I hardly wear them. I will not buy another pair.

I have been wearing Air Monarchs for many years but lately they are making a lot of noise when I walk. They have become so loud that I cannot wear them. I sent them back to Nike and the only reply I got was that it is because of normal wear! They did not offer anything. I have had a few pairs of the Monarchs that squeak I am done buying shoes that do not last. No more Nikes for me. Do not buy these shoes unless you want to be embarrassed when you walk past someone.

Nike Air Monarch does not use waterproof adhesive in constructing their shoes. If your feet sweat or you get them wet the glue comes apart and they squeak like crazy. I contacted Nike and their attitude was "too bad, so sorry." Expensive to buy, shoddily constructed.

I wore this same brand - style - size of shoe for several years. The quality is in the toilet. The last 3 pairs all broke apart at the toe. The stitching came apart on all 3 pairs. 1st I thought a fluke, 2nd I thought well ok maybe another fluke, 3rd?! This shoe is junk now! I will NEVER waste my hard earned money on theses NIKE shoes EVER again. I guess it is time to move on to another brand. No more NIKE for my household! EVER!

These shoes looked great...but after wearing a short time, my feet ached. They got very cheap with their insoles. I bought gel insoles and was able to wear them, as I'm on my feet a lot. A week after wearing them, they started making a squeaking and crunching noise. A most annoying sound. After 2 1/2 months the soles started to come off and I had to throw them out. Would not recommend and would not buy again. Cheap.

Bought these for work. After a couple of days they started to squeak from the foam support. It is not a quiet squeak. It is a WOW am I embarrassed squeak. I own a couple other pairs of more expensive Nikes with no problems. Just stay away.

Horrible shoes. I have been wearing Monarchs for quite awhile, and my last pair before these had a terrible squeaking in one of the shoes. I bought some Asics which wore out way too fast, so thought I would try another pair of Monarchs. Wrong! This pair has horrible squeaks in both shoes. Never again...

I owned a pair of black monarchs and was very disappointed with them. I did not purchase them through Zappos. I purchased them for work (restaurant) and after a month the tread started to delaminate from the shoe and developed an annoying squeak with every step. Stay away from these shoes, everyone else I have known to own these shoes have developed the same problems. Nike needs to bring these back to the drawing board.

The last 6 pairs of Air Monarch's I've purchased since 2009 have gotten progressively worse as far as squeaking and groaning while walking. I won't pay good money for a supposedly "Quality" shoe that is obviously manufactured with a known flaw.

I use These shoes for work and they are pretty comfortable, but then again i always change out my insoles. I wore these shoes for about a week and started to notice they are very loud when i walk. it sounds very loud in a quite hallway, with every step it sounds like im stepping on a frog.

I've worn Air Monarchs for the past 15+ years but I'm going to have to stop. This is my second pair that has started squeaking after a few months. Not sole squeaking, but air bubbles squeaking like a clown on meth. The awesome return policy can't help me here (bought them 4 months ago) so it's just a loss.

This pair of shoes has been the worst I've ever bought. They pinch the pinky toes and the insole always flops to the right or left after typing the top. But the greatest problem with these shoes is the squeaking. I've never had a pair of shoes that squeak like these. Even if it's 100 degrees out without rain in weeks it sounds like I'm walking with wet shoes. I did all the tricks, cutting holes in the bottom to release air but even that eventually doesn't work. Simply a waste, I anti-recommend to the highest degree.

Love the shoes and the comfort, but squeak, squeak, squeak. Is Nike going to do anything about this annoyance? Just bought a second pair which has a different configuration on the soles and the don't squeak yet. Hope this fixed the problem as I really like the shoes.

The perfect classic look. Too bad it is crap. After two months they started making a horrible squeaking noise!

Don't waste your money! I have now purchased two pairs of these and both pairs started squeaking within a month of purchase - just from normal use. I don't run/jog/sports or anything. I am a photographer and walk around a lot...but, really - less than a month after purchase these squeak to the point of complete annoyance! Don't waste your money! I am not the only one with this complaint - check out other reviews on the internet.
