I spend most of my days on my feet and walking, which is why I choose the Nike Air Monarch. I'm not a small guy, so this shoe takes a beating and still provides comfort for the long haul. If you use insoles, put some powder between the insole and the shoe--or you'll squeak a lot. I've been wearing Nike Air Monarchs for five years, and I go through about two pairs a year.

I work in retail and am on my feet for 8+ hours a day and by the end of the day I feel no pain or discomfort. They are awesome shoes the only issue I have with them is that they squeak way to much when I walk. Other then that its a great pair.

A great price for a great pair of shoes. The size I needed were out of stock, but as soon as they came in, I received an e-mail from Zappos telling me they were on my way. Free shipping and free return shipping are something you don't see very often in tandem. I would definitely recommend Zappos for great service at a great price!

Spent many hours on the VB court jumping and starting/stopping with these. They are very comfortable, made no noise and would buy them again. The cushion in the foot bed is great. Never feel any impacts from jumping.

Mine squeaked after a couple days. I removed the insole and found that it has some light adhesive on it, and the adhesive sticks and slips after a short while. A little foot or talcum or baby powder in the shoe with the insole and no more squeak. No need to return these.

Great looking shoe...fits great...but they will not stop squeaking. Every step you take they squeak. Too bad because they are very comfortable.

The other reviews about this shoe developing a squeak is true. I bought these shoes because a new job requires all black shoes, which I find all to be ugly. I thought this shoe was the best looking for the money and I've always felt Nike shoes fit good. I've worn the shoe for 6 days of work on an airport ramp and the right shoe has developed a squeaking sound. I believe this is happening due to the "Air" pocket in the shoe. This shoe has an air cushion that runs the full length of the sole and I think that under the toe area, the two surfaces between the pocket of air rub and touch creating a squeaking sound. Like other reviews, I don't think this sound and problem will fix itself and the shoes will now always have this sound. This is bad engineering. Nike should have just limited the Air support to just the heel. This would have prevented a failure and the rubbing of two inner surfaces. Not only am I disappointed in having to wear such a ugly/boring all black shoe, but now I walk around on what always sounds like a wet floor. It would definitely be more annoying in a quieter workplace. Buyer beware: These shoes will become noisy on a short period of time! Other than the noise, they are pretty comfortable and have a sole that will wear a long time. Too bad they are poorly designed. My first purchase of a poor Nike product.

What can I say? If you want to run faster, jump higher and be a big hit at the Crow's Nest nothing else compares.

Comfortable shoes. But these like all other Nikes run a size small for me, so I have to order a size larger.

Love the shoes! EXCEPT for the squeakin! I have apProx 4 pair & I have had to rotate one shoe to another because of squeakin... PLEASE, PLEASE Nike fix this problem! These shoes fit like a glove..

After owning an excellent pair of New Balance 609 shoes but then reading bad reviews of new ones (608's) I decided to try a different brand. These Nikes did not fit me very well at all, mostly because the heel cup is shorter and doesn't go up the back of my heel far enough or hold it snugly enough so ended up with bad blister after wearing for 45 minutes. There is also very little arch support and the top of the shoe isn't big enough to lace the shoe up tight enough without having the laces too tight across the top of my foot. Worthless. Went back to New Balance and while not as good as my older ones they worked much better than these.

My husband LOVES them. I would not have chosen them - rather clunky-looking, a big fat black sneaker, but at the end of a long day on his feet, he just grins and says, "Wow, I'm glad I bought these!" Style is a 3 or 4 rating, comfort is a 10. They run true to size.

I've been buying these shoes for years, very comfortable. However, a year or so ago they started getting squeaky. Very annoying for the rubber bottoms to squeak with every step. No more, I'm moving on to something else.

It was easy to find this size, and the price was reasonable. I liked the deal so much, I bought another pair in black. I really have nothing but good to say about theses Zappos folks. The online chat with the Representative was like talking to a friend too.

Zappos.com is fast, accurate, reliable and a LOT easier than tripping to the mall or any limited-inventory "brick and mortar" store.

I'm a fan of this design, I bought Monarchs II and III and they always performed great as my main sneakers - so I knew I'd be getting these when they came out. I'm still happy with them, even though the design has gotten so plain that these look a bit like institutional shoes if worn with pants. LOL And yeah, they fit a little loose, so you may wish to try a half size smaller than you usually wear. Otherwise? A good purchase. :)

These are well made sneakers. A word of caution, these run very narrow. I bought them for my dad. Ordered a size 9 and they were just too tight around the width of his foot. Sent them back and ordered a 9½. Still too narrow. I ended up ordering different sneakers for him. As always, Zappos' customer service was awesome!

Very comfortable shoes. I'm on my 3rd pair of these but will not be buying them again. Every pair I've had develops an annoying squeak long before the rest of the shoe wears out. I love them right up to the point they start squeaking. Seems to be a design flaw as it has happened eventually in all 3 pairs. Time to find another shoe for my next purchase.

These shoes are a bit stiff. The side look like they're just one piece of leather, with nothing to allow it to bend. I didn't think they bent at all when you walked. Perhaps they will break with time. I also thought they just looked 'big'!

I have been a Monarch wearer for several years because I liked the style and the comfort is great, but something has happened to Nike's quality control and now the shoe has a bad squeak in the soles like they used some cheaper glue and it doesn't hold. I first thought it was just a bad pair from my local retailer, but now I have bought another two pairs from different sites online and the same thing has happened within a couple of weeks on each pair. I won't risk another $60 on a pair of these again.

I solved the squeaky problem by running the shoe laces from an over(the way they are packaged) to an under pattern. Starting from the front(toe) you go under in and out the first hole and then follow all the way up. The squeaks totally disappeared. I am surprised no one thought of this before?

Every year my husband has Air Monarchs on his Christmas list as they are so amazingly comfortable. He always gets white and this year I found these with grey on Zappos. I have bought these shoes for years and never seen this color and bought them immediately. On my screen they look to also have yellow on them but it is actually a florescent green. They are great shoes that I highly recommend and Zappos was great to deal with! This was my first dealing and I will certainly buy from them again!

I use these shoes for a service job that requires a bit of running. They work great, fit great with two pairs of socks which is handy in winter weather, and are pretty durable. Good buy @ the cost.

Great sneaker! Very comfortable, light, and lots of cushion on the bottom.
