I purchased this jacket over the summer in hopes of having some insurance against sketchy weather in the Alberta Rockies. I was worried about the bulk of this coat while reading the reviews; however I was pleasantly surprised when I actually got it in my pack for the first time. It is a little bulky but isn't too big of a sacrifice for what protection it brings you.
It doesn't weigh a ton, and in my time so far in the rain with it - it has performed incredibly. I'm looking forward to doing some further testing with it in the winter, however as of now I'm quite happy with the purchase!

I bought this beta AR from a recommendation of a family member, and I never thought I would find myself spending that kind of money on an outer shell but I'm so glad I did. If you throw a nice base layer and middle layer under this outer shell you could walk clear through the tundra and feel warm and toasty without ever worrying that this garment will fail because it won't! This company clearly puts the X in exceptional!!

So glad I got this jacket, it's super durable and waterproof. Have worn it in extremely heavy rain and out climbing.

Well made products. Fit was just as expected for Arc products. Great wind breaker to.

Just got the jacket in the mail as a replacement for an old one that did not last very long. Disappointed is an understatement. The arms come to my fingertips and the body is so tight there is no room for layering anything underneath.
It's going back in the morning. I'm getting my money back and I will never spend another dime with this company. My 8 year old looked at the website and declared all of your jackets overpriced. He's right. Considering the very bad fit of the new jacket and the way the old jacket would soak through after a couple hours in the rain, and fell apart after only a few years, I've decided to not shop with you ever again. Your products are not at all a good value for the large prices you charge for them. I really wanted to support a Canadian company but I am completely confused by your sizing and extremely disappointed by your product's durability. You have lost a customer.

5"11" 165lbs 41" chest / 34" waist purchased size medium for alpine, touring, hiking, mountaineering. Jacket is comfortable, excellent weather proofing and durable. Had jacket for few years. Put through the ringer skiing glades, hitting branches you name it and while I have taken good care of it the jacket almost looks new. For most outings I'm wearing a base layer and atom LT and perfect amount of room and stay warm. On sub zero degree days add a vest or thicker puffy and it works but jacket is a bit tighter than I'd like. So if I had any complaints it's that the jacket is bit tight and on the shorter side for cold powder ski trips-the rush or Sabre might be better for those or size up in this jacket if you plan to use in very cold.

I upgraded my previous winter shell to the Beta AR and I am SO happy I did! The material is a bit heavier which is perfect for winter, the GORETEX Pro works beautifully in the snow and rain. Love the features including the longer, velcro-adjustable sleeves (I'm quite tall so the long sleeves are great) and the inner zipper for keys/cards. Have worn most in winter but even in spring during cooler weather camping and hikes. Fits a bit larger which makes it perfect for layering.

Just purchased a second one after destroying the last one. My previous Beta AR lasted 10 years. I wasn't very easy on it. Surprised it asked that long. Was happy to buy a new one knowing it would serve me well for the next decade.

Well-constructed, but way too small. I'm a 6-05 former collegiate athlete who still keeps fit. The size charts indicate that XXL will fit a chest measurement up to 50.5 inches. My chest measurement is 52-53 inches, which would easily be accommodated by a jacket in size 3XL. There are a lot of larger men like me who have become avid outdoor enthusiasts after their athletic careers ended, and I would not be surprised if your inventory of 3XL jackets sold out quickly (they do with other brands).

I got the Beta AR as a replacement for my 2014 Alpha SV. It's roomier and better suited for my all-around usage including bikepacking, mountain biking, hiking, and every day use.
All the features I liked and needed on the Alpha are also on the Beta (arm zippers, big pockets, awesome hood, adjustability).
I strongly recommend this jacket as an all-rounder. The additional room will make it easier to layer up in the winter. I am 170cm and 57kg and I have a size small. It fits on the large side, but it's great for my long arms and for layering!
I would never want to have a jacket other than this one!

I bought this jacket to wear as a shell over a light puffer for when I ski and it is perfect! The fit is very flattering and comfortable.

I absolutely love this piece. It is spacious enough for multiple layers underneath while also maintaining a sleek look. It has a great inner front pocket that fits a cell phone easily and is very accessible. It is super easy to adjust the fit with the drawstring adaptors, while maintaining its aesthetic. It insulates incredibly well--I use this all the time when manning long belays in cold, windy, or wet conditions, and it keeps me insulated and dry. The neck structure and hood is manufactured in a way that allows you to keep your neck warm with the hood down--which is major bonus when you don't want heat loss but also need a clear line of sight above (e.g. when belaying!)

I bought a jacket in 2014 for my older (late teens) daughter. Some of the lamination came off and separated this year (late 2020). I followed the service request and after they inspected it-all through online photos-gave me a replacement voucher. She wore it in Glacier Park Montana and all over Europe after college graduation and working as an au pair in France for a year! The replacement we chose was a Beta AR, which she will be taking to graduate school this fall. Sure, it is expensive, but it is well worth it. No, I am not a paid supporter but an enthusiastic amateur!

I've had this jacket for 5 years and it looks and wears like it's brand new. Works well as stand alone rain shell or couple with various types of mid-layers. Durable, abrasion resistant and a fit that allow full range of motion.

This replaced my first beta AR (which I loved until it delaminated after only one season and the pockets would fill with water). I would like to think I simply had a jacket that slipped through the cracks in terms of quality control, especially as none of the quick "fixes" worked either. But oh how I miss that Whiskey Jack colour.
Can't fault the customer service - this was very quickly taken care of for me in terms of a credit and once I could find a replacement (I get it - the outdoors is in an even higher demand during Covid). However I wanted to upgrade to Alpha AR which was to be "restocked in 2 weeks" yet that message lasted for 2 months until I was informed "try Fall 2021". So I'm giving the beta a second chance.
Have high hopes for my replacement especially as the price has since increased and I still think highly of the brand. I can understand wear & tear but I'll be raising my eyebrows if I only get a season out of this. I have no problem paying for quality but that's what I should then receive.
The kingfisher colour is much nicer in reality than online too (apparently I like the bird theme colours). I can still nicely layer underneath too even in an XS. Sleeves a bit long on me but not a big deal in the grand scheme.

I bought this jacket for both backcountry skiing and mtn climbing in the NW where it can get pretty wet. So far i've mostly used it for bc skiing and it has performed very well by keeping me completely dry when snowing hard and of course blocking the wind. It seems to breathe pretty well also. I've also had it out on some mtn climbing trips where it was snowing hard and it performed well. The reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is i wish it came in a shorter sleeve length. I ordered a small which is the correct size for me but the sleeves are just too long for a person of my height.

I have purchased three Beta ARs over the years. The jacket layers well for mountaineering and backpacking. My two prior jackets were durable. My latest one is not. The material wore our much more quickly, and seams came undone from normal use. The jacket no longer is worth the very high price.

Excellent water resistant capabilities. Keeps me dry when I'm out hiking, camping, fishing, the list goes on and on. I have had this jacket now for about 3 years and it's still as good as it was on Day 1.

This is my second Arcteryx jacket that I've bought this year and I am so happy with it. I often struggle with finding jackets that are long enough in the arms and the body and I couldn't have asked for a better for with this jacket. I am 5'8" and 135 lbs and I purchased a medium.
