These are great looking shoes. They are a bit heavy for walking shoes. They are not nimble enough for approach shoes. They are not heavy enough for backpacking shoes. It seems like these shoes have an identity crisis. For a mid, the last is really stiff. Insole does not offer much cushion. It feels like I am standing on a hard tile floor. The heel on this shoe is too built up, which given that it us a mid, might make it real easy to sprain/twist an ankle. The shoe would require considerable break in time as it is not an out of the box hit the trail shoe.

I tried these in both sizes and had heel slippage in both, even though my toes felt felt crammed in the smaller size. It’s difficult to describe but the shoe felt ‘shallow’—I sensed at any moment my foot would slide out. That issue aside, they felt very sturdy and well constructed. It’s a pity they didn’t work out for me.

Nothing wears out except the corner of the sole (which I normally destroy within a few months, on most shoes). Even the laces are way better than average: they don't wear out, and they stay tied!
