Let me first start by saying - I've spent my whole life barefoot or in clogs, so I reckon my feet have grown wider over the years. Manufacturers have different ideas on Widths and I still haven't quiet got mine figured out . . . 2E I think. When first trying them on I was a little apprehensive . Will the width be correct ? The material around the front of the laces seemed flimsy. Looks breathable but flimsy. There was no snugness. But the size was correct to what I normally wear. These are labeled as "Walking Shoes". Never owned a pair. Regular tennis shoes or running shoes but never "Walking Shoes". So figured if front of feet and toes are comfortable and not squeezed to prepare for a sport, maybe that's what walking shoes are all about ! So "what the heck, give'm a try". WOW !!! My feet never had it this good. Size and width were dead-on ! No pinching at the toes, heel is snug and front of feet cool as a cucumber. No cast-off to one side or other, just perfect ! I could stand all day in these. I spend 12 to 14 hours a day standing so these are just what the doc ordered ! Always been a fan of New Balance's fit and style, so wasn't disappointed there. Flimsy fabric breathes nicely ! Absolutely going to splurge for a second pair ! May sleep in them tonight - who knows !!

Toe box is bigger than anything I have worn before. Almost always shop New Balance. . Very good support. Needed a very neutral, rigid shoe. This, combined with custom insert orthodics, helps to keep pain from plantar fasciitis at bay. Wish they had more colors.

Amazingly comfortable! The softness of the materials and the extra height inside the shoe gave you room to work with. Your feet sits comfortably in its embrace. The opening was just big enough so the it can be tightened. It kept your feet inside the shoes without the feel of flip/flop that comes with other wide shoes. So far in my diabetic life, this is one of the best shoes I have owned.

I bought these shoes in men's size 15 6E. These have a Very generous "toe box" (even when compared to other New Balance 6E shoe models: 1540v3 & 990) for my 'flipper shaped' feet. And my heel does not slip in these shoes either. If you have a wide toe area with a, comparatively, narrow heel/Achilles tendon area, get these New Balance 847s.

Nice room in toe box but feel like walking on “Dutch boy” wooden shoes. Not too shiny
