Review for Zappos VIP Points (What's this?)Both the size and fit were good. Also, the style was nice. The problem for me was mostly centered on the tongue. The tongue is connected up to where the upper portion of the boot starts. In theory, that is a good thing so that the tongue doesn't slide off to the side when walking; but it creates extra leather (to allow enough room for the foot to slide into the boot) and a hump which doesn't look great and I would be concerned how it might break in. Also, there isn't much extra tongue at the top, which makes it seem like the laces might ride up over the top with active use (depending on the break in).
Finally, I didn't really like the elastic in the leather upper. Although it provides flex, it causes the upper to bow oddly and I can't imagine it is waterproof and/or might stretch out with use.
It is a good looking shoe otherwise but I returned it because of my mentioned concerns.

My 16-year old son has gone for a 38-day trip from PA to CA following Route 66, he and his dad will be camping too, he needed reliable shoes for the mountains and desert, so far he reports they are comfy, light, perfect for the sites where he needs his ankles to be protected and have more stability.

They're quite comfortable, I went on a ~7 mile hike up a mountain with them the first time I wore them, no blisters, no sores. Wear a good pair of socks. Lots of ankle flexibility so if you're looking for support, these may not be for you.
Nice looking, you could wear them on a trail or in a restaurant and they'd fit in. Can also vouch that they're water poof.
Not for heavy duty hiking, but great on shorter hikes.

Nice looking and fit. The rivets on the ankle hurt a bit.
