Baffin

Baffin Logo
Baffin is focused on becoming the undisputed global leader in performance footwear, providing quality, comfort, aesthetics and value through the technical innovation, with a focus on creating the ultimate boot for extreme conditions. Polar explorers have come to appreciate the unique qualities of Baffin boots. Doug Stoup, a celebrated polar adventurer, used Baffin boots to travel over 1,000 kilometers across the Antarctic. In 2006, at least three separate international expeditions chose Baffin boots to get to the North Pole, including, of course, Baffin's own polar trekking team.

When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.

While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).

Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

Unfortunately they were way too big. I usually wear a women's size 6 and ordered the 5.5 which were easily a size too big. I really like the style but they don't get any smaller than what I ordered (and am returning).

Fits perfectly. Quite comfortable for their intended use (i.e., don't expect these patio clogs to be comfortable on long walks. they are meant for quick walks to the mailbox or hanging out on the patio)

After almost exactly one year, both boots failed on the big-toe side behind the steel toe. Large 1" crack appeared recently - found out by stepping in a deep puddle and flooded both boots! Up to that point, I was very pleased with these boots. They were comfortable to walk in and easy to slip on and off. Great boots to have by the door on our ranch. Sigh. Imagine my delight when I realized I still qualified for a product return through Zappos (365 days!).

Only used indoor. First pair had 13 years, size extra large. My shoe size is US 10. This time l purchased the large size, snug but comfortable. Pittsburgh, I wear them fall, winter and early spring.

Received the dark green pair as a gift. I wear a US women's 9.5/euro 40.5 and usually a US men's 8/women's 10 in clogs. The style of these is really cute but they run a smidge large for a woman's shoe. Arch support is better than with my crocs and other gardening clogs. I needed them to walk the dogs out at night in a rural area, and just realized it's nice that they don't have decorative holes like crocs that let the dew and rain sneak in. I really like the contrast sole. Other than being a smidge big, my only other negative is that they feel a bit heavy, and I prefer a lightweight shoe. But I am keeping them! They are almost perfect.

Almost perfect! Loved another slip on waterproof clog but the insoles wore out too fast. These have no insoles so should be easy to clean! Perfect around the yard shoe, grab the mail shoe or wash the car shoe!

Not well made - this pair wore through the sole in 5 months - not like the pair I purchased a few years ago which were made with better materials (like a leather sole) and better construction. I paid $31.84 for this pair in November and I see that the price now is $59.95 (almost twice). Clearly these are not woth buying again.

I have wide feet, and these are the first rubber boots I've worn in a long time with a comfortable toe box -- most Asian-made medium boots are too narrow unless I size up. The material (synthetic rubber, I imagine) in these boots also seems to high quality, soft and flexible with a nice degree of stretch. They remind me of the old US-made Servus Notherners. Just wish they were a little taller.

I have had these for almost 2 years and I'm still so happy with them. They slip on so easily and are extremely comfortable to wear. The fit was good the first time and true to size. I have thought about ordering another pair but they are so durable, I think they might outlast me. I highly recommend them.

These fit my wife well, are true to size and are very warm. The only issue I have with them is they are Made In China. I wish they were made in North America like some of the other Baffin boots.

Fits well; there's just a tiny bit of flex and movement inside the not, but it makes for a comfortable feel when walking vs. a stiff stride and feel. Keeps my feet warm, and I have a tough time with that due to circulation issues. I'd recommend these boots to anyone looking for a solid, comfortable winter boot.

These boots feel so great on and are perfect for our cold north winters. They are wide enough, where other brands felt snug in the width. Your winter boots can’t be tight, and they can’t feel sloppy either. The leather is good quality, and well- stitched. Very happy with these boots!

Most shoes i get are size 12. I ordered size 12 in these and they fit fine BUT I returned them for a a size 13 because in a boot intended for single digit F temps ( and below) I know from past experience I want plenty of room to be able to wiggle my toes to keep the blood circulating. I might even put in some toe warmers. If you are looking for a boot as a fashion statement you might not want these boots because they are thick and heavy and make your feet look big. But if you want a serious cold weather boot I think these are the ticket. They look quality but only time will tell on that. I had a pair from LL Bean which lasted at least 15 years and would have replaced with same but they are no longer available. I considered Sorrels but there were too many bad online reviews concerning the rubber foot splitting.

Great boots. I wear a 8.5 shoe and ordered the 8. With athletic socks, they were snug but not tight. Perfect length. I think the 9 would be too big, but if you intend to wear thick sock, go up a 1/2 size, not down.

Boots are warm, slide on easy enough, BUT NO arch support! Inquired at Baffin about boots with arch support.....she gave me incorrect info! Well made boots! If I wear thin socks I can add my arch supports.

These boots were a huge splurge for me but I was looking for an unembellished black boot that was mid calf with a very low heel. The fact that these are waterproof and very warm is a total bonus. I love that they have a full zip and are easy to get on and off. I would have preferred full leather (as a opposed to the elastic goring sections) and I could do without the tab at the back. But they hug my calves beautifully- something high boots never do-(they always have a huge gap) and they look great with skinny jeans and leggings. My only warning- they run extremely small. I am a 6.5 in sandals and usually wear a 7 in boots. I had to return the 7 and go up a full size to an 8. I'll admit that I like some wiggle room, but I knew that the 7.5 wasn't going to give me enough of that. I am very comfortable in the size 8 and pleased with the purchase.

I wear a US Womens size 9 shoe, most of the time. I ended up keeping this shoe in a size 11. I have worn the Baffin Sage boots in temperatures as low as -18*F and my feet have always been warm. I wear a single pair of Smartwool socks with the boots and my feet never get sweaty or wet. I snowshoe, almost daily, during the winter. And one of the best features of this boot, in my opinion, is that on the outside back of the boot is a 'ridge'. The heel strap of my snowshoe sits just above this ridge, making the back of my boot/snowshoe/foot very secure. My neighbor, who often snowshoes with me, frequently has issues with her rear strap slipping off her snow boots. Some of the reviews said that these boots are not waterproof. So, far, I have not had any issues, despite being a lot of deep snow. I haven't worn these in 'slushy' conditions, yet.
