Baffin

Baffin Logo
Baffin is focused on becoming the undisputed global leader in performance footwear, providing quality, comfort, aesthetics and value through the technical innovation, with a focus on creating the ultimate boot for extreme conditions. Polar explorers have come to appreciate the unique qualities of Baffin boots. Doug Stoup, a celebrated polar adventurer, used Baffin boots to travel over 1,000 kilometers across the Antarctic. In 2006, at least three separate international expeditions chose Baffin boots to get to the North Pole, including, of course, Baffin's own polar trekking team.

When polar explorers trek to the North or the South Pole they subject their footwear to the most demanding conditions imaginable. Day after day they exert themselves to the point of exhaustion, pulling their equipment over the rough and unrelenting terrain. They lose as much as one pound of body weight each day in perspiration and burned calories. At night they sleep in small tents where the temperature can drop as low as -60°C (-76°F), freezing their boots. Cold feet and blisters, that might not be given a second thought in other situations, can be fatal in this environment.

While traditional molded boots are suitable for some conditions, they are not ideal for cold temperatures. In the early 90s Baffin realized that if they combined their leading molding technology with a foam-based inner boot system, they could create a new hybrid style of high performance footwear. Since then Baffin has developed new materials and combined them in new, innovative combinations. A good example is the unrivaled 8-layer combination of materials that are used in the boots that are rated for -100ºC (-148ºF).

Over the years, Baffin has created a line of industry-leading footwear that performs in extreme conditions for an ever-growing list of loyal users and activities, including snowmobiling, ice-fishing, hunting, mushing and working in industries like construction, oil, mining, forestry, and outdoor winter recreation. Because of this, Baffin has become the leader in footwear for all your cold weather needs.

My husband loves these boot/slippers. He wears them indoors as slippers not outdoors. He wears a size 10 1/2 shoe however we read the reviews and decided to go with the 2xl size instead of the large. The fit is perfect. The boots/slippers are great, he loves them. Very comfortable and warm. Zappos is the best!

Truly a lovely basic winter boot and well structured and solidly made. Perhaps for this reason the sole of the boot was too rigid for active walking--devoid of flexibility. The heel would slide up and down upon taking steps. It could be that in time it would break in. But I prefer comfort at the outset.

They looked great but felt tight and about 1/2 size smaller. Purchased size 9 but felt like 8 1/2. Had to return them and decided to purchase a different brand and boot.

I read the reviews about them running big, but went up a half size to 8 because I have a bunion. Even so, 8 was too big, so I’ll order a 7 and see if these will work.

Great, well constructed boot. Was wanting to get a pair for my daughter - I've owned the same boot for about 3 years. Seems to run a tad small. Will return for 1/2 size bigger. This boot is wonderfully warm and I've had no problems with the construction or the comfort. Will buy 1/2 size bigger.

My husband wears these to do yard work around the house and they're great for that purpose. Rain or shine they work well for mountain living. Easy to slip on and off and they haven't bothered him at all. True to size and the style is great for their purpose. As always Zappos is awesome!

My wife and I both have a pair of these and they are great! It is like wearing a sleeping bag on your feet. One sleeping bag for each foot. You can't beat that! I would not wear these outside especially if its wet- but that's just me. These are the perfect cozy winter house shoes. When your done for the day, slip on a pair of Baffins! ZAPPOS does it again!

Truthfully these were disappointing. The snow catches on the lace on top of the toe and keeps them wet. There it significantly less insulation in the toe area. You pull them on, thinking it's going to be a good thing, then think you'll need 2 extra pairs of socks to keep your toes from freezing. The upper is also fairy stiff in the back, almost more ideal for a bent knee posture, not fully standing up. Definitely not a good walking boot.

I've been needing rain boots. I've gotten the inexpensive kind you buy at the grocery store in the past, and they work but never really are as comfortable as they could be. My kids have been telling me to get Hunter boots. However, while the little kid Hunters have flat and flexible soles, the adult version has a more structured sole and heel. I've come to really like zero drop, minimalist footwear. I prefer a flexible sole that lets me feel the terrain under my feet. So I'm trying out these... haven't given them the walking through the muck test yet, but they are quite comfortable in my living room. Enough room for my toes and still secure on my feet. The foot-bed is bendy and thin enough to feel the ground through them. They do have padding, and a nice insole inside. But they are better for people who don't want a lot of support, but want to be able to feel the ground a little bit. It makes me feel more sure footed when walking on slippery or uneven terrain to be able to feel what's happening a little bit, instead of having a stiff heavy shoe. I got the bright yellow, and I think they are cute. Not as stylish as a Hunter, but nice enough to walk around town without looking like you just came in from mucking the stable. For a travel boot, or someone who likes the feel of minimalist footwear, these are perfect.

I own several pairs of baffins, the sizing seems to have changed. I always order up in Baffins, and this time even though I ordered a size and a half LARGER ,these boots felt slightly tight and very narrow in the width. My normal size is 6.5 US , my other Baffins I sized up to size 8, fit perfectly. The big liner is most likely the reason. I spend 4 hours working with horses in a barn, and these boots keep my feet very warm so far. I normally wear several insulating layers of socks, including one heavy wool pair, but these are so snug I am limited to only to 2 light pairs. I love that this model is taller than the other versions. Laces are somewhat cumbersome and hurt my hands if I want to get them really tight. They are otherwise lightweight and easy to get off. Design on bottom is better and does not retain mud in the treads like my old Baffins did.

The Baffins mark the end of a two month long search for some camp booties to wear around the house. I am disabled and suffer from chronic cold feet. I thought that if I could find some down booties I could solve the problem. I ordered down booties from REI and other vendors and couldn’t find a pair that fit or would stay on my feet. I ordered three different pair on e-bay all with similar results. The Baffins came up in my search results often as I shopped but I always overlooked them because they aren’t down filled. After so much effort and so many failures I decided to try them. My winter boots are Baffins and I love them so I thought they were worth a try. So far I’m very pleased with the booties. I am using them with Hot Hands charcoal toe warmers in them and they get pretty toasty. Before I was disabled I was a backpacker and I can confidently say these wouldn’t be great for that. They do make a great slipper. They stay on my foot, there warm and comfortable. They are very wide and very large, to the point of being funny but I don’t care, I just want warm feet. I score them low for style but high for warmth. I think they are warmer than thierbdown filled competitors. Overall I love them. Not sure how they will do in the durability department because they don’t have a rubber or plastic sole. I’ll try to do an update in a few months to see how they hold up.

The other concerns is that my extremities are always freezing...enter Baffin Cush!!! These slippers are so incredibly warm and comfy ...they truly are sleeping bags for my feet.. Ive given them as gifts to people with cold feet and they've loved them as well. Hard to fit feet will love this warm lightweight slipper

A beautiful job by Baffin. These boots are definitely warm, high quality, and well made. They are well worth the money. I thought they might be too bulky to dress up but if you pull the laces tight enough, they are also nice enough to be worn as a fashion boot (At least the black ones are). I’ve been searching for a pair of boots like this for a long time. Most are either a quality fashion boot or they are massive weather boots but rarely can a boot work as both.

These boots are super comfy! They are all about cushion!!!! I wear a 9 1/2 so ordered a 10. I wear a thinner sock so I think they will be just fine (if not, it's because of my bunion) My other foot suffers a Morton's Neuroma but the toe box is sufficient not to make it feel cramped. I love the tall boot for deeper snow. I have no doubt they are going to be super warm. Just for fun I tried on a Sorel Joan of Arc (size 10) to compare but nope--no comparison--the Baffin is far more comfortable and roomy. Yes, I recommend them!

Cool shoes. I like the style but they did not fit me well. Based on reviews I ordered a full size up and they were too short for me. It seemed that the toe box is very well insulated, so my toes were pressing on the insulation (as opposed to pressing on the shell of the shoe). Thinner socks felt a bit better but still too tight.

Like their hi-top Booty version, these were my absolute favorite slippers as they stretched and molded to super-wide feet and were warm and comfy. But just like the Booty, the quality is just lousy: they shred after a single winter. I only ever used them indoors on carpeted floors, and thought perhaps it was just a bum pair, but after 4 different pairs died in just a few months, I switched to a different brand so I wouldn't have to replace them every year. These are cheap and comfy, no doubt, but they're basically disposable.
