In 2003 Lynn and Harald Husum were people watching in Brooklyn when they were inspired to design a line of fun, irreverent t-shirts for kids. In their tiny apartment they designed, dyed and screen printed their first line of pop-culture and street art influenced tees. The line was named Appaman after Harald’s childhood companion, a cheeky corduroy ape that he befriended while growing up in Norway.
Fifteen years, two daughters, and tens of thousands of clothes later, Appaman continues to create thoughtfully designed garments, drawing inspiration from childhood and current street style favorites. The goal has always been to design fashion uniquely for kids but loved by all.

Soft fabric and fun skating dinosaur graphic! Our fashionista 2 year old ‘grand’ is very particular about his clothes - fabric, design, construction - and he chooses his Appaman tees over most others. They’ve held their color, shape, and fabric integrity through multiple washings. They seem to be a bit longer in body length than cheaper brands, which helps as they grow. We also appreciate the size range - Toddler to Teen - because it helps when matching outfits are needed.

Size 7 looks a little narrow and long, which works for our grandkid (hopefully). The black is deep and the graphics are very bright. He won’t know what a record turntable is but we think he’ll love the look. He chooses his Appaman tee’s quite often and I think it’s because of the softness. Frequent wearings = frequent washings and the colors and fabric have held up well in every tee. Love that Appaman offers a range of sizes so we can get matching tee’s for all three kiddos.

The look is beautiful. My daughter and I are very happy. Sizewise I’m glad I ordered up. She wears now a size 8/10 so I got her a 12. It’s perfect with room to wear a sweatshirt under and to grow into.

This is a tailored suit; so will fit best on trim kids (not super skinny). Bought my grandson size 12 and 14- he is an athletic build with a little bit of “belly”. Size 14 was way too big (long) size 12 fits like a glove… perfect if he were a grown man and not ever changing. He is 4’7” 84 pounds. The weight is pretty evenly distributed. Side note is the navy blue is very dark- I thought it was black until I took it into the light. The fabric is beautiful, soft, rich, lightweight, feels good to the touch. I hope this helps- so hard to get 10 year old boys looking sharp!
