Love these boots. Very comfortable and exactly what I was looking for, except they are by no means fully waterproof. I live in the Pacific Northwest and need a fully waterproof boots. My first hike in the rain, the boots was great until mile 2. Suddenly my feet and socks started to get wet. I did not walk through any puddles or streams, so this should not have happened. I'm very disappointed in that aspect of the boots, so I'll have to use these on dry hikes only. I guess my hunt for a waterproof boots continues.

Great waterproof hiker but if you have flat feet it might cause extra strain on your knees and feet. The toe box isn't as wide as their other styles so not enough room for bunions. They need to make it a little wider and raise the heel a bit so everyone could benefit.

I was so excited to get these as I've been waiting a long time for a barefoot style waterproof hiking boot. And it feels like a great boot, nice and light, and it looks good, but unfortunately it didn't fit me. I ordered a half-size bigger than I usually take, as recommended, but it was still too snug. It also felt narrower than my other Xeros. So sadly I had to return these. Still holding out hope for the perfect barefoot boot!

For being a barefoot shoe, this style has surprisingly little room in the toebox. I am normally a Size 9 and Xero recommends ordering a half size up from your normal size, but the 9.5 felt to me like I was wearing an 8.5. I then had to wait 3 more weeks before Xero had more sizes in stock and ordered a 10 and a 10.5. The 10 fits like a 9 for me, but as this is a hiking shoe and I wanted some extra room for my foot for multi-day hiking trips. The 10.5 feels just *a hair* too big, but it does give me some extra toe room and enough room for insoles so that I can have some arch support. I would recommend ordering at least a full size larger than you normally wear and maybe also 1.5 sizes larger to try on both at once and then returning the one that doesn't fit.

This newly designed Xcursion Fusion has padding in the ankle, which is a big improvement. But the new toe bumper design covers less area and causes a crinkle across the top of the foot that is way less comfortable. The old toe bumper really held up well to the rough trail use. Why reduce that?? Too bad they didnt leave well enough alone. Luckily my old Xcursions have some more life in them. I returned the new Fusions.

For a zero drop boot, it is surprisingly narrow in the toe box. And it hit one ankle in a bad way. Am returning.

They're just not foot-shaped at all - as completely straight and narrow as any standard shoe. Otherwise, I would have liked them - a nice lightweight minimalist hiking boot. But I really need the foot-shape wide toe box
I'd also recommend:

It is a good shoe overall - good quality, well made, feels wide and simple. It is probably to someone's liking. I wear primarily Onitsukas and in comparison, Xero shoes feel like a rain boot whereas Onitsuka feel like a glove on my feet. I have wide high arched healthy feet and I know lots of people like Xero shoes. But to me they miss the mark. That said, I definitely would recommend them over many other shoes.
I'd also recommend:

Ran very small. I’m a size 7 but had to get a size 8. But then they were too big unless i tied the shoes extremely tight and that didn’t feel natural to do. This shoe though in general wasn’t that comfy and didn’t feel as barefoot as other shoes. Also, returned because where the shoe creases was very uncomfortable and dug into my toes. Unfortunate because they’re cute.

These shoes ran very small. At least a full size smaller than marked. They might be comfortable if you can get the right size.

I have been waiting for a barefoot brand to create a rugged, waterproof hiking boot to replace my Merrells as I would like to fully transition to minimalist footwear. I was so excited when Xero made these, and I wanted to love them, but they just feel so narrow and tight along my whole foot and even toes. They feel less foot-shaped than all my other Xero shoes. Maybe I'll go up another half size and see if those are any roomier, but I might have to just return. I love Xero and I hope these boots are made in a wider option one day! Otherwise, everything else about these boots seems great! The quality is high and I can tell they are well-made as always.

I just got these Xero boots and they run larger then all other shoes. Make sure your aware of this. I own 4 types of Xero shoes. Sandals, terra flex, speed force, and alpine boots all in size 11.5. I purchased the xcursions at 11.5 they are at least 0.5 longer. They weight about the same as the alpine boot but the sole is thick and stiff. Its like these boots are no longer xero more like plus one. I am concerned about the xcursions being heavy, thick, and water proof. The alpines are taped seams water proof and totally failed in wet snow. Fingers cross exchange for sizing goes well.

I have been wearing barefoot shoes for years and have never had such an uncomfortable break in period as Im experiencing with the Xcursions. Not only did I need size up a full size from my usual Xero shoe (7 to an 8 - I have never worn an 8 in my life!) the boots are STILL too narrow. I do not have wide feet but shape of the boot is simply not a wide toe box. The photo attached shows how the Xcursion 8s compare to the sandals in a womens 7. The Xcursion uppers are stiff and crease uncomfortably at the top and pinch my feet, and Im developing blisters on my heel and hot spots on the top of my right foot after wearing them all week to work in an attempt to soften them up. The boots ARE waterproof, the look is excellent, the soles are flexible, and they are refreshingly lightweight, so Im still hopeful that the material will soften and break in like another reviewer experienced. But overall, Im feeling disappointed in how much my feet hurt due to the narrow design of this boot. I wish Id ordered the mens. Definitely size up and definitely give yourself a break-in period if you get the womens Xcursions. And if youre used to barefoot shoes consider ordering the mens boot.

I’ve been looking for a light, waterproof hiking shoe with a flexible sole. These felt cheap and surprisingly stiff.

These were WAY too small. I ordered these with another pair of Xero Shoes. My other pair I ordered an 8 (which I usually wear) and these an 8.5 because I read that they run small. Not only was the 8.5 too small for me, but they were too small for my wife, who would wear a 6.5 mens. I like the shoes, and I'm keeping the other model of Xero Shoes that I bought (they fit fine).

Bought a pair from REI so I could test them out and have the option to return. The shoes seem well-made, durable, and like they would have good grip (although I haven't tested that), but they do not breathe and left my feet feeling hot and sweaty after light walking. Also, the toe box is very narrow. For a barefoot brand, the toe-box offers no room for the tootsies to spread, and I have naturally narrow feet to begin with. I have been loving my Z-Trail EVs, but these hikers are a no-go. I can't recommend for anyone who wants a foot-shaped toe-box.

I love the quality of the shoe but it was very skinny and not foot shaped at all. I dont have very wide feet and all my other shoes are xero. So this was really surprising to me. It was way too tight and I returned them.

These are more narrow than my other hiking boots and don't really seem to have a natural shape in the toe box at all.

I love Xero shoes, but the boots never work for me. They always break funny in the forefoot and pinch the top of my foot when walking.

I was so excited to get these shoes and I really wanted to like them. I work in an aquaponics greenhouse so not only am I on my feet for most of the day, my feet get wet very often. In my experience, these shoes have not been waterproof in the slightest. My feet are usually soaked an hour into the day. In the photo, you can see they are falling apart in several places (perhaps this is due to them being wet so much? Im not sure). I would never expect a pair of shoes to show this much wear after only 4 months of having them. I also really didnt find these shoes to be comfortable. My feet feel incredibly stiff after taking them off and I dont feel like they can move very freely at all inside the shoes. I would agree with other reviews that said the toe box is too small, and my feet are average width. To end this review on a high note, I have a pair of sandals from Xero that I absolutely love and wouldnt hesitate to buy again.
