Initially I thought the Bondi 9 was perfection. I had a new pair of Bondi 7’s on when they arrived and it was like a “new and improved” version. Everything I loved about the Bondi 7 only even more cushioning and less of the large foot print of the Bondi 8. Two weeks into wearing them, I would wake up with my lower back and hips killing me. I do daily yoga and strength training so this made little sense. I went on to Hoka’s website and noticed others talk about how they make you walk on the outer edge of the shoe. I don’t know why the would change this shoe to the degree that it effects your gait, but it did mine and that was a huge disappointment. I had to send them back of course. I’ve worn every version of Bondi. Again, a horrible, unnecessary change.

Loved everything about the shoe except the width. I need extra width to accommodate bunions on both feet and the regular width was just not wide enough.

Bondi Lovers will like this new update. Soft step in, excellent arch support, 2mm taller than Bondi 8. The forefoot flair is a little more streamlined for those who thought was like a "clown shoe" but is still very stable. Heel counter holds the foot firmly so it's a great lockdown. Some think there needs to be more width and runs narrow- was not true in my case, I was good with my HOKA 9.5, regular width. The shape, to me, is Mach 6 (ish) with the same new foam, only taller.
Recommended for easy runs, walking, healthcare, all day wear. I will be buying more colors as they release.

This shoe (in wide width) is very comfortable to accommodate my wide foot. The cushioning is very plush, especially the heel. If they weren't so expensive I'd get another color. I'm a teacher so these are great for supporting my feet at work.

The shoe pushed on my big toe knuckle causing some discomfort (I have arthritis there). Also, the extra padding of the sole is too much for me. I like a lower profile shoe.

Love these! They are great support for my terrible feet. However, they are not wide enough for me. So very disappointed.

This shoes doesn’t have the finger loop at the back to help pull it up over your heel. I use that function and when it’s gone, it’s annoying. The cushion is harder than the Bondi 8. I have plantar fasciitis and miss the absorption the 8 gives.

Have worn Hokas for years-- after having both hips replaced-- Hokas have been the BEST for comfort/support.
But the Bondi 9s have a very narrow toe box-- which causes bunions-- and just overall too tight. Truly hurt my feet. Even after going up a 1/2 size.

First time buying Hokas. I tried the Clifton 9 and the Bondi 9. I love them both, but this one has a bit more arch support. I shouldn’t keep both at this price, but I probably will! I tell my feet they deserve it.

I love these Bondi 9s. I was very happy to see they came in WW so I ordered a 9.5 WW and a 10 W, as I wore a 10 W in the Bondi 8s. The 9.5 WW fit perfectly, right out of the box. I don't like the colors they come in for a WW but I ordered the lilac. I've gotten compliments on the color from women so I guess I should just enjoy having like Easter Egg shoes. Oh, I tried my Upstep insoles in them but they are more comfortable with the insoles they came with. I have worn them for walks and also when I ride my stand-up bicycle, an ElliptiGO 11R.

The shoes feel and fit great, and I really appreciate that they offer wider widths, however compared to my Hoka Cliftons, there is a lot more shoe sole material that extends out from the shoe. They look massive on my feet, particularly being all black. I love Hoka shoes for their comfort and support, but this one is a style issue for me. Perhaps a two color combination would look less chunky than the black/black shoe.

I like more the bondi 8 style, it is wider on the sole so it makes me feel more comfortable. It doesn’t have the “hook” tu pull up the shoe when you’re putting it on.

Disappointed! I love my Bondi 8's but these have a much more narrow toe box regardless of the width or going up a size. I'm going to try the Gaviota 5s as I've read they have a wider toe box.

I LOVE the Bondi 8 and am so sad they are not making it anymore. I feel the Bondi 9 is a totally different shoe; the toe box is not as wide and the shoe somehow feels 'shorter' in length, even though I have the same size I normally wear. I also don't care for the Bondi 9 color options but might have overlooked that had the shoe fit. I have no idea why they are discontinuing the Bondi 8, as it was the perfect shoe. This shoe (Bondi 9) has more cushioning than the Gaviota (which I am considering since the Gaviota toe box is wide with lots of space) but the rest of the Bondi 9 is not a fit for me. Also when you put your foot into the shoe, it doesn't slide in the same; something about the fabric or texture of the Bondi insole is different (for me). Good luck shopping! Here's to our health, fitness, and happiness!

Hoka Valor was my favorite for my skinny boney feet - so much cushion and support. When they discontinued I found the Bondi line to be the next best option - they are decent, but not as good as the Valor. I've worn the 7s & 8s and was hoping the 9s would be an improvement but they are not. The new Bondi 9's rub my ankles and Achilles tendon - it seems like they moved everything up a little higher than in past designs. In the photos the fabric around the opening looks cushy and soft but it covers stiff edges that cut into my ankles when walking or running. I'm going to try keeping them to see if they break down at all. I'm not hopeful. Also - as many others have said, the color options need to be improved!

If you have plantar fascitis - these might help! I work on my feet and tried them all. Hoka Gaviota, Asic Gel Nimbus, and on and on. These don't take away the pain, but significantly help. Provide arch support and cushion. Run true to size, maybe a touch small.

Long time Hoka Bondi fan here, so know that up front, these Bondi 9's are a HUGE update/ upgrade from the previous! Oh my goodness, these shoes provide significantly more cushioning and pure comfort! Frankly I never really noticed differences better the 6, the 7 or 8. These however are next level.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Writing the review that would have helped me most when making a decision to purchase. I had read many helpful reviews here (Zappos rocks!), on the Hoka site, and elsewhere since the Bondi 9 was first available. I have some knee issues and plantar fasciitis issues and the Bondi 8’s have been the only shoe that have gave me the comfort I needed for walks and occasional runs. I have owned so many pairs of them over the years and wear them until they wear out. I ordered some of the final 8’s on sale when they were sunset to put off having to try the 9’s bc I had read the style had changed and I knew what I had gone through to find the 8’s and was concerned the 9’s might not address the issues in the same way. Finally, I had to buy the 9’s bc my last 8’s wore out. By this point, I’d put it off long enough that I could read many more reviews, which was helpful. I did what a few people said and ordered a Wide size of my normal Hoka size since folks said they were more narrow (that turned out to be a great decision fit-wise, btw). Some reviews said they were more plush and comfy when you put them on that the 8’s. Other reviews said people’s feet hurt after wearing them a while and they didn’t have enough cushion. I was confused. How could there be more cushion and also not enough cushion in the same shoe model? I can now report that both of those things indeed are true. For me, when I first tried the 9’s on, they felt more plush and comfy than the 8’s ever did, which was a high bar, and I was very encouraged. This applied well into my first outdoor walk in the shoes (past return window now), probably for 1.5 miles of brisk walking. However, by the end of my first long walk, my feet hurt. They have never hurt when wearing any other Hoka or Brooks runner and they hurt in spots they hadn’t before. It was a sore and aching feeling. It especially hurt where my arch is as I have high arches, but other parts of my foot ached after long walks. Yesterday, I tried running in the 9’s for the first time and my experience was that I couldn’t even tell I had on Hokas. It felt to me like any other running shoe in terms of support to the point that I discontinued my run. So, after spending the money for the 9’s, I am scouring the internet for any remaining 8’s in stock anywhere bc these are not the same shoe. I think my running shoe journey has to completely restart now and I don’t understand why Hoka made these changes in such a substantial way. I rarely write reviews but I wish I had known these things bc these are expensive shoes. I hope this helps someone. Thanks.

Why do they do this? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And put back the heel loop to put them on.
Not a fan anymore…

Very happy... I have several issues with my feet, these Hokas seem to address all of them, arthritis, neuromas, over pronation, and flat feet. At a recent podiatry visit I was told I am lacking fat pads in my feet (that must be the only place, lol) and I needed the extra cushion these would provide. I was hesitant at the cost, but they do work and are worth every penny. Seem to be helping with hip and back pain too. I wear an 8 Reg. in Reeboks, an 8.5 D in Saucony, an 8 wide in boots and went with size 8.5 wide in these. I hope that info helps you decide on your size. That said, Zappos is great with returns. I am 71 yrs old.
