Love this shoe! Went up a half size and it fits very well. It has a nice deep toe box and width. Good for hammer toes and bunions and provides such good support!

I have ordered three of these in recent weeks because I am afraid Altra will make changes to a great shoe just because it is business custom to keep making new versions. This iteration delivers what Altra has been famous for: a wide space for toes to spread upon hitting the ground, a roomy toebox so that you cam wiggle your toes up and down, proper length so rhat your longest toe and big toe do not push against the edge of the shoe when running, and sane colors which offset the somewhat comical shape (which I happen to love) not exactly viewed as chic or stylish by most folks. I have the 5.5 for usual use and bought a 6 in the waterproof in order to accommodate thicker socks.

The LP9 is an improvement over the last two versions. The shoes feel like they're getting back to the LP5 and 6 versions. The lacing is improved and the tops feel lighter and softer again. I wore these right out of the box for about 4 miles and I'm pleased. They do feel a little wider across the toes, but for me, the heel fits better.

I got these shoes based off an independent online review for people who have plantar fasciitis (I have it in my right foot). I like that the toe box is wide but also the sole has no drop off, so my toes feel fully supported and consistently flat like the rest of my foot. They are very comfortable and supportive around the ankle. The fabric is breathable and the shoe overall is very lightweight. Will most likely purchase additional colors!

Wonderful toe box. Original Fit Altra Lone Peak 9. Finally! Altra should stop fiddling with a good thing. They have this one right. Just keep these the same way. No need for 10, 11, 12……They look funny but that is part of the charm.

My first pair of Altras. They are a very comfortable - and different feeling - shoe. I'll be using them for everyday walking/local hiking. They are a little too flexible in the forefoot for me on rocky/mountainous terrain. The feel is different, with the low heel drop. They look like comfort shoes, with the big toebox. But I'm looking for something comfortable! I do like the colorway - dusty olive w/ salmon pink highlights. Time will tell with this design - but so far, so good! No break-in time needed.

Reviews said to go up half a size which I did and that was spot on. Lots of room in toe box so if you have narrow toes, might be a bit too large. My feet are very happy in these shoes.

In most other trail shoes I wear 6.5, but Altras tend to run small, so I'm a 7 with the Lone Peak 9. This version of Lone Peak remind of the Lone Peak 5 with a little more grit. The tops are softer than recent versions, the laces have been improved, and the tread is durable. I've worn the 9s on trail half marathons up to 50k (in pouring rain). I live in the high desert and my shoes take a beating. The LP9 is pretty awesome.

Excellent fit - great toe room with their unique natural toebox shape; great heel grip. This medium "stack" height gives me enough cushioning without losing too much feel. Altra has been working for me really well in recent years!

These are very comfortable right out of the box. Due to bunions I need a wide toe box and Altra is one of the few brands that have a more natural foot shape and which accommodates me better than most. I have an older pair which are just as comfortable but they got a hole in them after not much wear which was disappointing. I hope these will hold up better but with few options for wider feet I went ahead and will hope for the best.

I love hiking and just finished 10.5 mile day hike. Shoes were comfy and great traction on steep terrain. I wear thin hiking socks so I ordered my normal size

My fourth pair of this style. I always wear a 7.5 but these fit like an 8

The length was fine but the amount of room within the shoe was just too much. I tried with extra thick socks and it still felt like too much room. Tying the shoes to the point of cutting circulation and still my foot was moving inside the shoe. Also beware, refund are not issued as quickly as before. Refunds used to appear in my account within a day and now I'm told it could take a month!!! I've not even worn the shoes. I doubt I'll return to Zappos at this point.

The forefoot is SO wide, there was extra material at the forefront that folded inward and pinched my foot when walking. Normally I sometimes get wide shoes but this was too much.

I wanted to love these, for them to be like the beloved Lone Peak 6 which felt like slippers but supported like trail shoes. I was disappointed when after wearing them around the house for an hour, my back and feet were aching. They felt supportive at first & seemed to give my posture a boost but the pain was real. The shoes are very stiff both in the shank and around the heel. The cushioning seems nonexistent. For style, the grey was flat and the shape was broad, XL -looking. DH said: wow! Those are big! Although the toe box was wide and roomy, my second toe hit the end. For reference I usually wear size 11. Please bring back Lone Peak 6! I need Soft support with cute style.

I ordered these for the larger toe box but, for me, they had no arch support at all. I have high arches so they didn't work and I sent them back.

I've had several pairs of lone peaks, and this is the first I've had to return. The heel is about 1 inch taller and a lot more loose than previous versions (=huge blisters). Even doing the heel tightening lace trick did not help.
