As a devotee of the FujiSpeed 3, decided to try without having much of a use case. And thats how its turned out. Its ideal for a gravel road half marathon or longer (which is how I use it mostly). But here Colorado practically every trail is too technical for such a high-stack, laterally unstable platform. The grip is excellent! I might not buy again yet am not unhappy because it is so well-crafted. And must admit that if I ever run the Cowboy 200 again (a 200-miler across Nebraska on a rails-to-trail) I will seriously consider the MetaFuji.

These shoes are so comfortable. I wear them on road runs frequently because they have a great feel. The weight is light and the traction is excellent on the trails.

very cool model: light, comfortable, fast. They are equally good for running on asphalt and forest trails

Raced this 2 loops of 5 at Javelina Jundred. Majority of it for first loop was great, except for the much more tricky and most technical section, the extra section on loop 1. Had to lean on the technical trail skills of the White Mountains to get me through there, but it took more effort to stabilize through it. The narrow heel profile combined with the stack height made it not as Ideal for very technical. It exceled when I was running strong and on basically 80% of the course. When I was fatigued, it did no favors, I shouldve swapped it after loop 1 to Trabuco Max 4. All in all, its fun and exciting as long as you have the strength and skills for it, otherwise on runnable sections it was great as long as you can manage form.

The shoe is very comfortable and cushioned, providing a smooth ride overall. However, one area that might need adjustment is around the heel. When running down the trail, theres a chance it could lead to rolling an ankle, especially on uneven terrain. It might be worth exploring more heel stability or a tighter fit in that area to improve support.

Fast, precise for even D+ terrain, great energy return. Stable with enough traction, not for for mud endeavors but good in snow. True to size, airy upper part, medium comfy space for finger with smart protection around, Good choice for fast trail / sky races. My choice for up to 21K together with Fujispeed for longer distances.

Im newer to trails in the Midwest area. I usually run on open or more mountain bike technical trails. The Metafuji has been an awesome shoe! Its lightweight, good stability and push off, cushioned, great grippy laces, and effective outsole. I would highly recommend it. I previously tried the Hoka Speedgoat and Tecton x2, neither were for me. I have a 100 miler in 11 months and hope nothing changes about this shoe, not even the color!

Just took these out for a trail run on rocky ground. Super comfortable from the get go (did 16km having only worn them a bit around the house). The one minus is the heel is a bit narrow so there is a little bit of a lack of stability - my ankle rolled inwards a few times when I was tackling technical parts. On flat they were on point, but for rocky uneven ground I would want a wider footprint.

Love these, but seriously, I would never use on a trail. Super comfy! I wore these for nine hours straight and my dogs never complained once. Ill save my Adidas gortex for my wet, muddy trail runs. I bought these for the lovely color and style. This shoe has a mesh upper and my feet would be be soaking wet in the first few minutes of a trail run. I really think ASICS really needs to evaluate what they are selling as a trail shoe.

Quality grip on wet and muddy trails. Forked carbon plate in the midsole provided excellent propulsion on flat trails and stability on technical downhills. I've run in both Fuji Speed 3 and METAFUJI TRAIL and prefer METAFUJI TRAIL because they feel like they supply more bounce and surface area on the trails. If you are looking for the same propulsion but lower stack go for the Fuji Speed 3
